After driving the car one evening the engine spontaneously caught a fire. The fire deptartment said it started from some problem in the engine. In addition we notice the heat of the fire did not deploy the driver and passenger side air-bags. This caused my brother the driver to go forward. Also the airbag did not deploy when my vehicle was struck. Causing more harm and worse injuries, because there was nothing to keep my brother from going forward. 46 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

Purchased 2013 Nissan Sentra in late Feb 2013. Within a few weeks the passenger air bag light came on while I had my wife or my son the car. Both are around 140 pounds. I have everything reset/reprogrammed at the dealership. Worked fine for a few more weeks, then same problem. Had the recall work done. Work fine for another few weeks, then same problem. I have had this brand new car back 6 times to the dealership. They have done everyhting they know to do. I have provided videos to them each time it happens. Most recent time (#7) happened a week or so ago (no in Aug 2013). Was on about a 15 minute trip with my son in the car and the light was on the entire time. Dealership asked me to bring the car in to check the codes. Now, miraculously, there are no codes, so Nissan is telling them that nothing is wrong with my car. Meanwhile, I continue to take videos of the incidents as they happen. But, no one can help. Now in the process of demanding a new car from the dealership with no money out of my pocket since this happened very soon after buying. I doubt I'll get satisfaction. First people to be sued if I'm ever in an accident and that air bag doesn't open will be the dealership and Nissan. Do the right thing and stand behind your products and trust loyal customers who have all the proof needed!.

49 Seat Belt problem of the 2012 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/09/2012

Seat belt chime on vehicle does not work as advertised in owner's manual. Chime is supposed to function/sound to let driver know seat belt is unfastened but does not work. Nissan say the chime is unimportant and it is no longer a feature even though it is advertised in the owner's manual to work. I consider it an important safety feature to ensure my kids buckle up and expect it to work as advertised. I was told by the Nissan service tech's and sales person that it can be reprogrammed but Nissan are not willing to do this. I feel this feature should work as it is advertised as working and it's an important safety feature to ensure driver's fasten their seat belt. Nissan have also refused to respond through email with an explanation to my inquiry through their website. Other Nissan models have this feature working.

51 Seat Belt problem of the 2006 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/13/2009

I have only had my vehicle for 11 months. Last week a red flashing light appears. I looked it up in my handbook and it showed that a safety restraint isn't working. I took the vehicle to the dealer and the cost for repair is $1600. 00. Since I've owned my vehicle it has not been in any accident, and when I purchased the vehicle the carfax report was clean as well. My repair guy says that the only way the light should've come on was due to front end collision, which, I have never had. I am being told that in case of accident none of my safety features will not work. No seat belt tightening, no airbagdeploy etc. I am very concerned because I have two small children and would like to figure out what's going on. There should be no reason that an 11 month old car should be acting like this!! I have not yet repaired the vehicle, I am going back and forth with the dealer because this actual problem should be covered under the federal emissions law.

(throttle plate stuck) the problem never seemed to be corrected. The consumer would have to forcibly press down on the gas pedal, after putting the vehicle into first gear, from reverse. 56 Seat Belt problem of the 2001 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/15/2002

My engine failed again while driving 70 mphs on the freeway, the very day after the car had been repaired for yet another defect sensor. It was a miracle I did not crash and kill anyone including myself. Each and every time I have taken the car in, I have requested it be checked for a short in the wiring. Each time I was told no. I later learned thar meant if it didn't show up on the computer, then they wouldn't look for it specifically. Following the latest hazard, I got in Nissan's face. Nissan found a defect oxygen sensor this time. Upon retesting the vehicle, the emc (the brain of the vehicle) was found to be defective. I was also told had I driven the car any longer, the air conditioning unit would have blown too. Well, that explains all the lousy gas mileage this past year. So, here it is a week later and my vehicle remains in the shop with a back ordered emc with no available stock date in sight. I am renting a vehicle and am receiving very little assistance from Nissan as to getting a rental vehicle in the meantime. I am quite concerned I have purchased a brand new spanking yellow lemon. I am quite concerned this vehicle, even with a new emc, will produce other defective sensors once the warranty has expired due to wear and tear from the old one. There are 45 sensors in the vehicle and only 5-10 have blown so far. I am quite certain others are close to failure too. I am just as concerned when both the Nissan representative and the service manager told me this part has been on back order for a very long time as so many vehicles have endured this problme, that the vehicle has not yet been recalled.
