I have a 2005 Nissan Titan and it has a problem with the door handle cables freezing up. It makes it impossible to open the door and if the door is opened, it will not close securely. I was able to get into the truck but the door came open as I was driving. Luckily, I always wear my seat belt or it could have gotten very ugly. I took it into the dealership on Jan 4, 2011 and was told they could replace the cables for about $400 per door since it was out of warranty. This is a serious safety issue and needs to be addressed immediately. Apparantly it has been an iongoing problem on Titans since 2004 and has never been corrected. Something needs to be done before someone losses their life. Thank you.
I have Nissan Titan 4 door 4x4, live in California, it seems that when the temperature drops the door locks get lazy and when I engage the remote to lock or unlock you can hear them clicking a bunch of times but never actualy unlocking door so that I can get in. Sometimes as I am driving if I roll down any window and back up it will make the locking nioses described. Then when I stop vehcile, put in park, key out of ignition, the driver door lock stays locked while the others unlock. My truck has roughly 40,000 miles on it. Its been to the dealership 3 x and they have witnessed the issue, claim they fixed it, and it happens again a few weeks later. Call me strange, but it seems to happen on the coldest days and gets better when warmer. What realy freeked me out was that I had a child in the truck one time and I could not get the doors back open to get in. Basically the doors where stuck shut as I panically pushed the unlock button on the remote but you could hear the door locks mechanism making noise but just as quick as it would unlock, it would lock write back up again. This is a huge issue and the dealer can't even figure it out. It is all over the internet with murans, Titan, altimas, all having the same problem, but no cure just ideas on how to fix. Need recall!!!.
Drivers door is difficult to open when outside temp is below 15 degrees, and when I get the door open and close it, it will not open again when I close it trapping me inside. I have to crawl over the passenger seat to get out. I think that this is a safety concern because if the vehicle caught on fire I would not be able to get out or if I got stuck on train tracks etc. Nissan is aware of the problem and even has a technical service bulletin on their website. The bulletin is ntb05-118a. I contacted Nissan and the rep stated that it was not their problem.
The issue I am having is with my 2004 Nissan Titan. When it gets cold out, all of the door handle freeze and won't open. If you are lucky after a few hours and you do get it open, you can't get them shut. Several times I had to tie the seat belt around the interior door handle in addition to holding the door close so I could get home. I took my car to ricart Nissan and they said it will $1000 to fix all 4 doors. So, I contacted Nissan directly and they refused to fix it. This is a serious safety issue and someone is going to get injured and/or killed.
Door locks will not unlock -either by key or by remote-locked in vehicle for 1. 5 hrs while at gas pump-more on drivers side then passenger side - after a while will unlock on own - may be associated w/warmer temp-dealer advised I may need a new lock assembly - only have 18000 mi on truck.
2005 Nissan Titan. Door latch failure during cold weather below freezing. Live in smallwood NY, so time period of this weather is October - April. Locked out of truck while children in car and unable to get to them because all doors were frozen. Keep in mind I have not washed the truck in several months. There is a Nissan TSB that they will replace door locking mechanism if vehicle is under warranty. Nissan USA: tbns bx56aa / TSB 05118. However if vehicle is not under warranty they quoted me at $400+ per door x's 4 doors. This is unreasonable and a severe safety hazard for most of the country that experiences weather below 32degrees f. It is a known failure that Nissan USA knows about. This should be a mandated recall. Below are links to a Nissan Titan online forum with multiple other complaints about this. Frozen door latch problem not solved. . . Please advise winter problems with Titan from USA frozen door handles frozen doors wont close when cold!! Nissan new TSB for the frozen door handles!.
Doors will not close in freezing temperatures. This has forced me to drive with my door open numerous times. . . How is this not a serious safety concern? when trying to close the doors they bounce back open and do not latch.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. Since purchase the door locks fail when the weather was cold. He was not able to lock or unlock the doors. While parked in warmer areas the door locks work normal. He contacted the dealer and was advised that they were not aware of the failure. The estimated cost to replace the cables and latch was $1,600. 00. No repairs were made. He will contact the manufacturer. The failure and current mileages were 78,000.
2005 Nissan Titan. Door latch failure during cold weather below freezing. Live in anchorage alaska, so time period of this weather is October - April. Door will not open, nor close properly from inside, or outside of vehicle. Had this problem last week, was not able to get back into vehicle for 10min while child was still in back seat. Yesterday 2 Nov driving on a highway door opened unexpectedly and passenger nearly fell out of vehicle. No one injured, however you can imagine the experience at highway speeds. There is a Nissan TSB that they will replace door locking mechanism if vehicle is under warranty. Nissan USA: tbns bx56aa / TSB 05118. I own a 2005 Nissan Titan king cab, which I purchased it in November of 2005. After, approximately 30days of ownership and 500 miles of travel; the front brakes began to experience complications (they would shudder while braking and create an unreasonable amount of brake dust. ) I quickly return to my local dealership where I purchased it, for servicing. The Nissan dealership repaired the rotors. During the summer of 2006, I began to notice a musty odor emitting from the floor and carpeting of the passenger side. During a routine oil change and requested the mechanic to inspect the truck for the cause of the odor. They couldn't locate the source of the odor. I returned the truck to the dealership for the same problem on several other occasions, during the summer of 2007 odor reappeared; they replaced the rubber gasket around door windows in hopes of resolving the issue. Meanwhile the front brakes rotors were replaced again and the gauges (fuel, oil, tach ,voltmeter) acting erratically. The dealership repaired the brakes under my extended warranty & prorated my purchase of a new Nissan auto battery; according to service dept. This was the cause of the gauges malfunction. Then again in2008, I was told the brakes were no longer under warranty and that the musty odor was caused by water coming into the cabin via a small void in the window sealant around the "factory installed windshield upon hearing this, I chose to take my truck to another mechanic due to Nissan mechanic inability to resolve the brake issue & locate the source of the water. This year 2009, the rear end was repaired due the seals leaking on the driver's side and preventive replacement on the passenger seals. However, a few old issues along with new ones that still exist. My new mechanic told me the source of the water & odor issue is the a/c condenser leaking into the cabin, the blinking air bag indicator light was due to a harness needing replacing in the rear doors.
Nissan Titan seems to have a problem with the door locks/cables failing in cold weather. I was putting it off as just a freak occurrence on my vehicle, until I was giving a ride to some children and the door would not latch properly. I needed to strap the door closed to the opposite side door. Then I looked on the internet and it seems to be a problem many others are having. Obviously Nissan used some sub par quality equipment. I can understand that maybe they got some bad parts , but they need to fix this problem. I paid almost 500 dollars to get this fixed which I thought was outrageous but for the safety of my children it had to be done.
Door latches freeze and will not open, or if able to be opened, will not latch in freezing temps. Otherwise, if the door is secured, the latch freezes trapping the occupants of the vehicle! what if there is a fire? what if my family is involved in a crash? does a child have to fall out of a moving vehicle and get killed before something is done about this? you folks have been aware for some time now, why haven't you done anything? this is a very blatant safety issue. My next step is to call my attorney.
Whenever the temperature drops below freezing the door lock/handles freeze and the door will not open or if I can get it open it will not latch. The doors (both left and right) have flown open when going around a corner when it appears that they are closed. This is a severe safety issue.
The door handles lock either open or closed and can lock you out of your vehicle even if the doors are unlocked or lock the door open which makes it impossible to close your door.
I bought a 20004 Nissan Titan used and within months both the front and rear diff. Have gone bad and had to be replaced. Now when it gets cold my door handles freeze. The handles can not be opened ,then they will not close you need to hold them closed and lock the doors to keep them closed. This is unsafe.
I have had the door lock cable on driver and pass door three times and now are broke again.

2004 Nissan Titan se 4x4 off road king cab anytime the weather is at or below 20 deg f both doors freeze shut. I cannot use the door handles on either side of the truck to open the doors. If I attempt to manually roll down the window to open the door from the inside the window is sometimes frozen as well and will not move. In weather around 20-25 def f the door handles will sometimes work to open the doors but the handles and internal door cables will not move back to their original position to allow the door to close and latch properly leaving the doors in an open state. This posses a safety risk to the occupants of the vehicle if it is driven in this state. This occurs anytime the ambient air temperature reaches around +20 deg f Nissan has so far refused to repair the problem under warranty although a TSB ntb05-118a exists for this problem. I have replaced one external door handle that was broken as a result of excess force by trying to open a frozen door.

I feel this vehicle is unsafe since the issues have not be addressed.
Door handle freezes(cold weather) open. The door cannot be latched shut.
The door handles on my 2004 Nissan Titan all freeze shut when it gets cold out. It seems to let water come in around handle and than it freezes. This prevent me from being able to gain entrance into vehicle. This occurs everytime it is cold out especially in winter. Nissan refuses to pay for repairs as vehicle is out of warranty and it will cost roughly $175 for parts per door plus labor. I guess in later models they have redesigned them but refuses to fix vehicles with old old designed handles.
