1 Steering problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

Original problem: 2017 Nissan tital truck - miles: 82706 issue 1) purchased the vehicle and owner of the Nissan dealership stated it had a "bumper-to-bumper" 100,000 miles warranty on this model truck. He never mentioned the warranty expired after 5 years in December 2022. Issue 2) power steering pump started making a "growling" noise went to the local Nissan dealership and they determined a seal in the pump needed to be replaced. Found out that the seal has been back ordered from Nissan japan due to the "high demand and part failure". Local dealership wanted to replace the entire rack & pinion system at a cost of several thousands of dollars. Contacted the Nissan corporation to help with the warranty issue and replace only the defective seal. Local dealership will not call me now that I took the issues to Nissan corporation. Nissan is stating that there are 67 seals on back order due to the high volume of requests and I'm now with a truck I haven't been able to drive for 3 weeks. Please look into this seal failure for a recall because I cannot afford to replace the entire rack & pinion system with 9 hours of labor cost at $200 per hour plus the cost of the entire rack & pinion assembly when I only need the seal replaced!! please help.

3 Steering problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/13/2024

The vehicle is available for inspection immediately by all parties. While driving down the highway, the truck started a vibration, without any warning indicators. The vehicle was taken to the next travel center truck shop. The writer acknowledged the vibration like a misfire, but no codes were present. He recommended another shop or dealer. A detour was made to the nearest Nissan dealership. On the way, the truck stumbled with a violent vibration and shut down on the road without warning lights. There was a complete loss of power from the engine on the highway, giving way to the risk of being hit by other motorists and blocking traffic. Since the engine shut down, there was also a loss of power steering, giving high risk to the possibility of an accident. The truck was unable to restart. The vehicle shut down in the middle of the desert, exposing my family to unsafe environmental conditions. The truck was towed the remaining way to the dealer. The next business day, the technician got the truck started and verified the concern. The tech requested additional time for teardown which was approved to remove the oil pan for inspection. I was quoted over $37,000 to repair “catastrophic engine failure. ” there were metal shavings found in the oil pan “the size of a computer mouse” from somewhere on the crankshaft. The dealer found that the check engine light came on during service but did not provide the codes. Nissan refuses to assist with repair due to warranty time and secondhand ownership. Nissan was offered to inspect the vehicle but has declined.

4 Steering problem of the 2022 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/12/2024

There was no bolt that holds the undercover after the steering system was replaced. I contacted victoria debnam and she told me the service would take care of it. I returned with my Titan and that took a few minutes. I went home and checked the bolt. The new bolt looked different from the oem bolt. I contacted her and complained but she didn't respond back. Then I contacted the Nissan affair and they told me to show up. So I showed up and went to see robert paolucci about the bolt issue. They put up an oem bolt as other factory bolt. After a few days later, I went under and inspected the new bolt. The bolt is no longer tightened. I contacted robert and jonathan flores via email and call but they haven't responded back. The previous bolt had already damaged the threaded hole of the frame. I did contact the Nissan affair about the issue and they haven't responded back. Robert paolucci texted me and selling tires and I replied back that he needed to contact me about the bolt issue. Since the non-oem bolt damaged the hole in the frame, which can rust and corrode the frame. The frame repair could be very expensive. I don't know how they address the hole which they need to change the whole frame. The service needs to find a solution to that damage.

5 Steering problem of the 2009 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 03/18/2024

As I backed into a parking spot I proceeded to try to switch from drive to reverse to straighten out and the lever went floppy. I am stuck in drive with the emergency brakes engaged. The wires under the column shifter wore at just the right time to what appears would be the clock spring!!.

6 Steering problem of the 2022 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

I am trying to get an appointment at the Nissan service in clarksville, MD about the safety concern. They haven't returned to me after I left numerous messages via text and their office answer machines. My truck acts very oddly at around 40 mph which is very hazard and I did send the video link but they rather not view it until I get an appointment. I did reach the Nissan consumer affairs that I have waited long enough but they told me to continue to contact the service and they are aware of it due to the log. I did send the video to both of them but they couldn't view it at their work computer. The truck drifted on the ramp around 40 mph as I captured it. See the video below, at :20, I kept on the gas for around mph, the rpm and mph dropped and the slippery warning light and the brake system was triggered. I felt like my truck was pulled back when that happened. That is a bit dangerous to drive. I dont see any damages under my truck. Can you escalate the issue to the Nissan and the local service that they should take a look at and take care of it? the truck has plenty of problems and it is only two years old. My old Nissan car almost had no issues and ran hundreds of thousands miles. . Read more...

7 Steering problem of the 2018 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/05/2024

Traveling home from working nightshift. I fueled up my truck with diesel and started my commute home which is 85 miles to my residence from work. 60 miles into my commute without warning and no alerts my truck suddenly lost power to everything… engine, steering, acceleration, and electrical. Final able to pull off the road with difficulty steering. Came to a stop and everything shuts off. All the warning lights lit up but no exact detail to what caused it. Had it towed to service shop after failure to start and the sound it made trying to start wasn’t normal. Technicians ran my codes and found nothing that could diagnose the problem.

8 Steering problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 11/05/2023

Was driving at about 40 mph with cruise control on, when my passenger and I noticed extreme vibrations and noises with. Began slowing to turn into a gas station just ahead when the clunking became so violent the front of the vehicle was bouncing. As I turned into the gas station, there was a loud bang, smoke billowed from the hood, and the engine stalled leaving me with no power steering. I turned as hard as I could to avoid gas pumps and people fueling their cars, and ended up running up a curb with no power to steer away. No warning lights came on until I came to a stop. Smoke and oil continued running from the front of my truck for several minutes. I feel fortunate to have walked away from such a violent breakdown. I am told the truck needs a new engine and transmission resulting from a broken crankshaft, and have been refused any warranty or good will assistance. I was given a quote for $37,000. Thought it was a joke, but then again this whole experience has been hard to accept as reality.

Failure Date: 10/24/2023

Twice after a rain I've found substantial amount of water leaking from the driver side, left side dashboard near the ebrake peddle and under steering wheel. The inside padding around the frame is soaked. It appears it could be broken windshield seal or leaking sunroof. I also have video.

16 Steering problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/28/2019

I bought this truck new. I have a clunking and looseness in the steering. It started around 14,000 miles. I have had it to the Nissan dealer 3 times for this. The last time the mechanic road with me at 20430 miles and he acknowledged the problem. Two days later when I picked up the truck, the service writer told me it was a normal characteristic for the truck to clunk and be loose. I then made a customer complaint to Nissan corporate. They told me it was normal to be loose, and clunk. While driving in less than perfect conditions 6/28/2019 interstate 40 going through the mountains it almost caused me to wreck. I was pulling a 20 foot gooseneck trailer totaling about 6,000 pounds. I had the cruise set at 45 mph. I have not had a ticket in 25 years. This extra weight and the curvy rough roads caused the loose driving to be a real problem. It is dangerous. There are many post also on the Titan xd forum about this problem. I am not the only one.

17 Steering problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 03/16/2019

Traveling at 25-30 mph on a dry, grass covered road, applied the brakes to slow down, no braking occurred; I then pushed on the brakes as hard as I could, I felt the abs pulsating, began to hear a "clunking" sound and feel a clicking in my brake pedal matching the timing of the clunking sound. Since the brakes were not responding I then turned the wheel to the left attempting to turn the truck, it did not respond; I then turned the steering wheel to the right, no response. The truck continued straight into a tree, head on collision. Not watching the speed I assume I was doing 20-25mph when the truck hit the tree, no airbags deployed. After the collision, when preparing for the tow, it was observed the drive shaft was disconnected at mid-way of the truck, not snapped, just off. This seemed a strange result with a head-on collision; the tow driver made the same observation.

18 Steering problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

My husband could have been killed. We had no knowledge of any recalls. Two days ago my husband was getting in the truck and all of a sudden smoke started coming from the dash board and a fire was starting. He immediately ran in the truck stop store and was able to get a fire extinguisher. Another customer unhooked the battery as my husband distinguished the fire. The truck will not start and when trying to test it out by re-attaching the battery the smoke began again. We are now without a vehicle and had to get the truck towed home.

21 Steering problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 10/07/2017

On oct 7 2016 I was driving up a winding mountain canyon road at about 45 to to 50 mph I was on an inside turn when all of a sudden the truck just jumped into the oncoming traffic lane , I was able to get it under control and pulled off onto the side of the road, luckily no one was coming the other way at that time ,or there would have been an accident as it jumped 3 or 4 feet into the oncoming lane . I visually inspected under what I could see of the steering and suspension saw nothing and was able to drive slowly to the nearest town but the steering was really sloppy so had it towed from there to a Nissan dealer, filed a complaint with Nissan consumer affairs, case #28569379. They sent engineers from the manufacturing plant then I never heard from them again. The mechanic at the dealership told me the pittman arm had come loose from the center link and they fixed it to my satisfaction but I dont believe Nissan is giving the matter the attention it deserves as my experience could easily have ended in an injury/death type of accident, had traffic been coming the other way or had I been on an outside turn there would have been a crash or possibly a long fall to the stream bed below. All the repair info can be obtained from Nissan of reno, nevada, and once more there is a consumer affairs case #28569379.

22 Steering problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/26/2017

The vehicle started exhibiting very loose steering behavior and a "clunking" noise from the front end. The steering wheel has play from 45deg turned to the left to 45deg turned to the right without affecting the direction of travel. The stability control would attempt to keep the vehicle moving in a straight line when turned to the left or right, regardless of speed (<25mph - 70mph) on dry, warm roads. When the stability control attempted to keep the vehicle moving straight through a turn, it was necessary to quickly apply the brakes to keep the vehicle from leaving the road surface. The vehicle in question had between 1500 and 2500 miles during this time.

23 Steering problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

My drivers seat is falling apart it has been this way for at least a year it is now starting to cut me and tear my clothes took it to the dealership and they said it was under warranty but I would have to pay half of the cost witch is $550 I know others with this same issue but why should we have to pay for this problem. Also my when I'm driving my truck the truck whines when I stare right to left or left to right my truck is 3 years old and it sounds like it's falling apart whenever you go over any bumps, for the price of this vehicle I shouldn't have problems like this.

27 Steering problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

The truck stalled out no power had to crash into shoulder of road and embankment. Glad we survived the bumpy crash, I just had suspension work done that saved us. We read the ipdm board or ecm relay is bad and causes this stalling to happen. Part number for ecm relay 284b7-cw29.

30 Steering problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/27/2013

This is the second time in over several months that my driver side drive axle for my 4x4 has pulled its self out. It was fixed once on my dime and is now going to be fixed on my dime again it is a dangerous failure that could cause my suspension to lock up an rip my wheel off then leading to a serious accident. It needs to be addressed and the NHTSA has done nothing to pursue this. Another problem that Nissan will not cover is the rear axle seals that blow out due to a faulty design which may also lead to a serious accident, they will not address any of these issues under a recall an there are thousands of people that are suffering from these issues from 04-010 for the axle seals and model years 04-08 for the axle shaft pulling out from the 4x4 causing serious damage to internal and external parts. This needs to be addressed an the NHTSA is doing nothing about it.

33 Steering problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 03/05/2012

Driving north on the highway @ 70mph, vehicle backfired and engine shut down, no power steering or brakes. Moved vehicle off the highway, cranked but would not start. Left vehicle for the day and returned and replaced a recalled (but known good replacement) ecm relay and vehicle started and ran correctly but showed ses light and code showed p0335 crk pos sensor. This vehicle had a catastrophic failure while driving which represented a serious hazard to both the driver and surrounding vehicles should the driver has panicked in this situation and heavy traffic. To date the vehicle is a Nissan facility and still has not been repaired at great expense and inconvenience to the owner.

34 Steering problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure of front control arms, according to Nissan webiste (many other vehicles were recalled for same, not mine) this could result in collision.
