Steering Rack And Pinion Problems of Nissan Titan

The transmission is going out , now the steering column separated from the rack and pinion.

My Titan has only 34617 miles on it and the power steering unit went bad and also sent metal shavings into the rack and pinion steering. I have to pay Nissan $1200. 00 dollars to fix the power steering unit and try to flush out the metal shavings. If they can't flush out the system add another $2500. 00 to replace the rack and pinion steering on my truck. $4000. 00 to fix my truck with less than 35000 miles on it. This should not happen to a vehicle with low miles and has been well maintained and pampered since I bought it. I take very good care of this truck and Nissan should have to foot this bill! help!!!!.

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 to 70 mph, he could hear a loud whistling noise. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic and the contact was advised to replace the rack and pinion. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

On November 30, 2010 while driving my son to school my steering wheel locked-up and the rack & pinion leaked all the oil and the truck was totally disabled. Also July 30, 2011(mileage 28830) it happened again while going on vacation with my family to los angeles. While driving on the freeway I heard some vibration on the steering wheel and the steering totally disengaged from the rack & pinion. We were not able to steer the wheel at all that we had to stop and get help. Also December 29, 2012 (mileage 33323) it happened again while pulling the truck out of my garage, this time it leaked all the oil from the rack & pinion and the steering wheel was very stiff to drive. I feel that this problem needs to be addressed as soon as possible because somebody can get badly injured or killed because it's really unsafe to drive this truck. Future Nissan where I bought the truck will not help me with this issue & are denying to fix my truck again because they are saying it's the same problem again. Normal driving. Two left rear axle seal leaks that leaked so bad the brakes have failed. Power steering pump line leaked out all the power steering fluid. Failed rack and pinion steering.

Power steering was out when I bought the vehicle. Rack and pinion was also not working. The Nissan dealership dragged their feet before.
