1 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 09/02/2018

Michelin ltx m/s2 p265/70r18 tires, 70000 mile warranty, properly inflated (tire sensors) and rotated, even wear at about half wear life(based on unrotated spare). 38,561 miles on tires. Rear passenger tire failure (crack between tread) at approx 30 mph. Unrepairable due to tread cracking. Upon inspection, all tires except spare have sidewall cracking adjacent to rim, longitudinal crack at inside of exterior and interior tread, and cracking slits sim to failure intermittently between treads. Tire shop recommended replacement and called it severe weather checking. The combination of low miles and minimal tread wear makes this premature failure a safety risk. Reported to michelin and they blamed it on age. The tires are under seven years old.

2 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2006 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 04/03/2010

Tire sidewall separation. On 4/25/2009, I purchased 4 new toyo open country h/t, p265/70r18 truck tires for my 2006 Nissan Titan pickup truck. On Sunday, 5/3/2010, I noticed the right front tire had a small chunk of the black outside sidewall missing. Upon inspection, I could not find where any type of debris had hit the tire, nor could I find where any of the other tires had been damaged. The following day, I took the vehicle back to the dealer to have them inspect the damage. At the time of purchase, the total vehicle mileage was 30,586. As of this date, the mileage is 40,845. A total of 10,259 miles have been driven since the tires were purchased. As the tires came with a 60k mile damage warranty, I was expecting to have the tire replaced and to pay any mileage adjustment fee. The dealer instead informed me that, because of the type of damage, they would have to contact toyo and obtain their approval to replace the tire. I was told until toyo contacted them, there was nothing they could do, but that it was safe to continue driving the vehicle. I have contacted the dealer regularly, and have told that toyo has yet to respond. After checking the ntsb. Gov website, the only recall for a tire close to the one I have mentioned is a toyo open country a/t model.

3 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 03/10/2009

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. The vehicle has cooper veon ltz tires (na), size 285/60/18 (na). While driving approximately 35 mph on normal road conditions, the contact heard a loud noise coming from outside of the vehicle. The vehicle began pulling to the left without assistance. The driver pulled over to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle. He noticed that the front driver's side tire was flat and the interior sidewall had large cracks. The tire was replaced with a spare. In addition, the front passenger side tire exhibited interior sidewall cracks, but they were not as severe as the driver's side tire. The vehicle was taken to an authorized tire shop and the technician recommended replacing all four tires. The tires were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the defective tires, but could not assist. The failure and current mileages were 54,000.
