3 Wheel problem of the 2020 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/13/2021

In January 2021, I took the vehicle in due to tire separation and was told to take to a tire dealer. I had the general grabber apt on my Titan. I went to a tire dealer and found I had 3 out of 4 tires that were defective. One could be prorated but the others were not. I ended up purchasing a brand new set of tires and due to the issue on these tires with less that 3000 miles on them, I purchased a different brand altogether. I went to the dealer in April for an issue and found that Nissan has started to replace these tires based upon a recall. I am now out the money that I paid after I had complained that this tire had already had a safety issue yet now the manufacturer of the tire is replacing them. I have no problem sending the receipt of the tires purchased but will wait until asked.

10 Wheel problem of the 2014 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/14/2019

When accelerating from a stop getting on highway or traffic a few times now in light rain the truck went sideways on me or even after stopping at a traffic light it's as if there's ice on the road like the tires are bald rim and tires don't crab the road like they should especially the front right passenger side dealership said the tires were new but it's like the tire and rim don't spend at the same time and then a clunk like a slipped gear back tires don't have traction but the tires are new and have good tread. When going over speed bumps the trucks right passenger side has made a metal to metal loud noise dear said nothings wrong. Since about a month or less of driving the right front tire has caused the warning light on the dash to come on dealer told me just go put air in the tire now these are new tires why would this be happening any bumps I hit the truck hits hard going slow sounds horrible. I feel in the rain or even normal weather this truck shouldn't be slipping spinning out it's a hazard to me and others on the road.

11 Wheel problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 09/14/2018

I went in to get a truck on July 11th. . . They had to get the truck started by jumping the battery that they said would be replaced. While rushing us without offering a test drive insurring the truck was sound and mechanically stable. We then drove off in the 2004 Nissan Titan and all the lights on the dash came on shortly after. Vrd abs and brake as well as check engine light. The brakes then went out on us as we reached out home. The next day we informed them of what happened, they said it was just water on the brakes to give it a day and see what it does. It happened again and when we took it back they said the mechanic was gone to come back. Thats when we noticed the cara registration was for another vehicle and started to wonder if they had taken the car to emmisions at all. Check engine light was om since we left the lot. Before our first payment I spent $900 on parts had roadside called 4 times and replaced the battery. The truck didnt last to the first payment. Completely lost all braking power. This truck was taken to a mechanic that told us it would not have passed emissions when we got it because the history on the check engine light showed it was only cleared and not addressed.

12 Wheel problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/27/2018

My Titan came with 20" chrome wheels but when I purchased the truck I added a Nissan approved lift kit and tires/wheels. The dealer did not return any of the original equipment yesterday I had what I thought was a blow out the tire separated from the side wall luckily I could get off the interstate well since I added the lift and tires and did not get the original equipment back the lugs do not fit the spare tire so my truck had to be limped in the dealer is aware of the issue but do not give back the original lugs and are not concerned that this spare tire could easily come off going down the highway. I was going down interstate 20/59 when this happened.

I recently bought a 2007 Nissan Titan and I love the truck. I was driving along and I started smelling brakes burning, I pulled over and my rear passenger wheel was smoking. I looked on the back side and rear end dope was on the back of my wheel. The wheel seal has went out. Come to find out looks like the rear diffrential has been sealed up before. So, its a problem with the Nissan Titan rear end seals and diffrential seal. It creates a safety hazard getting on the brakes. The wheel could catch on fire.

21 Wheel problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

22 Wheel problem of the 2013 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 09/30/2013

My tpm warning light continues to come on for no apparent reason. This has happened from day one. The elevation and outside temperature have no bearing on whether or not the light functions properly. I have nitrogen filled tires. The dealer ship says they can't find anything wrong with the system and don't bring the truck back. This is a new 2013 Titan. The dealer ship said it was a Nissan problem. I am constantly pulling over to check my tire air pressure. This makes long trips difficult and scares my wife when ever she drives it. Nissan says to take it bac to the dealer.

26 Wheel problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/03/2012

Got in my truck to go to work today and while turning right out of my driveway the engine revved up and I was going no where. I let off the gas and as the motor rpm came down there was a loud bang and the vehicle jumped forward. Continued down the road about 200ft and turned around. Parked the truck. Checked the fluid. Metal shavings and chunks inside with plenty of fluid. Also noticed a leaking rear wheel seal on the drivers side. This truck only has 78000 miles on it. Absolutely unacceptable Nissan.

27 Wheel problem of the 2007 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/02/2012

My passenger side rear axle seal is leaking. From what I have read, this is an extremely big problem on Nissan Titan's. The leak is affecting the following parts: - passenger side rear brake components - passenger side rear tire (sidewall) - entire rear axle assembly.

28 Wheel problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Driver side bearing failure seal failure causing axle oil to pour out and axle shaft to fall out. Emergency brakes failed due to being covered in oil.

29 Wheel problem of the 2006 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/17/2012

On a recall for a faulty ecm (engine control module). The vehicle stalled and would not start again, had it towed to dealer. Nissan covered this ecm. During the repair the mechanic noted that the rear axle seals were leaking and recommended that they be repaired as soon as possible. The cost to repair was estimated at $750. 00. While web surfing for the repair process for the seals I ran across many complaints concerning this problem with the Nissan Titan including models from 2004 to present (2012). Based on the feedback from other Titan owners, this is a common flaw with the vehicle and a costly one at that. Also this is the first time I have ever witnessed rear axle seals failing in a vehicle. Most seem to last the life time of the vehicle. I believe this is a manufacture's responsiblity due to a defective parts creating an unsafe and useless means of transportation.

30 Wheel problem of the 2006 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

Rear axle seal, driver side, and soon after, the passenger side as well, failed. Differential fluid leaked out onto inner wheel surface, brake parts, and immediate area creating hazardous conditions. This is a widely known problem for Nissan Titan owners and Nissan is, and has been, well aware of this problem and has not offered a design solution to my knowledge. Nearly every Titan experiences this seal failure at some point. Some while still under warranty, (which typically get repaired by Nissan) but as for the rest of us who are beyond our warranties, we are left with this hazardous condition and a big repair bill. **this should be a recall, or at least repaired by Nissan at their expense. Its my understanding that there was a technical service bulletin outlining the issuefor Nissan mechanics. Please help**.

31 Wheel problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 09/05/2011

I have a 2005 Nissan Titan with only 44000 miles on it. During recent driving it sounded as if the right rear was grinding to pieces. It continually got worse so I looked under the truck to see if there was something that was caught and dragging. It was so loud that people would stare at the truck when it passed by. After it was taken to the garage they discovered that the insides of the right rear axle were almost completely torn apart. It was very fortunate that it did not cause a serious problem while driving. They also found that the left axle was leaking and would likely also break down. The cost to repair the truck was over $1700. 00.

32 Wheel problem of the 2008 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/26/2011

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan titian. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact noticed that the tire pressure warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a local tire shop where the technician stated there was a failure in the front passenger side rim which caused the light to illuminate. The dealer then referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.

33 Wheel problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/05/2011

I was driving on the freeway where the speed limit is 65 mph. I was going that speed when, what I thought was my drive shaft, basically exploded and fell apart whilst I was in motion. I have kept up one all mandatory and basic maintenance work and have never had a problem with it before. Parts flew out from all around my truck and it slammed into a complete stop as if I had made impact into something. Passing vehicles had to stay clear of the debris an I had to push my truck into the emergency lane. Highway patrol asked if I was alright and I stated to have already had a tow truck on its way. When my truck was towed to the shop they said the rear end actually gave way and broke, including the drive shaft which snapped into two pieces, one of which was launched into traffic. Luckily no other vehicles were damaged nor people hurt. The mechanics said they've been in business for 57 years and I was lucky to have come out of that the way I did, because in most cases the truck would have flipped and rolled. The damages were extensive and extreme for something I had no control over. The shop informed me that this was nothing to do with the way I was driving it or anything I could have done, and they found it "weird" that it happened the way it did. Very dangerous and near traumatizing. I was unable to select the correct components above so I just wanted to be clear that it had everything to do with my drive shaft, rear differential, and power line.

34 Wheel problem of the 2008 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/10/2011

This is a 2-part incident, the first incident happened last fall, 2010. During a service visit to a reputable local automotive shop, it was discovered that a lug stud on the right rear wheel was missing. The stud was broken off. It was replaced and considered a mysterious but benign incident. Returning from an 1200 mile road trip last week, I took my Titan in for an oil change to the same automotive shop. They informed me that 4 of the 6 lug nuts were missing. Upon further inspection, they were all broken off about a 1/4" from the axle wheel mount - on the same right rear wheel. The missing studs were in the 10, 12, 2 and 6 o'clock positions - the only 2 remaining studs that prevented a catastropic accident involving my son and me were in the 4 and 8 o'clock positions! it is nothing short of a miracle that we were not involved in a deadly crash!! one of the two remaining studs holding the wheel on the axle was one replaced previously last fall. I had aired up the tires the night before I left on this trip and did not notice any missing lug nuts. Clearly this was not a theft attempt for two reasons: a) why would someone who could simply unscrew the lugs nuts instead, with great effort, twist them off the wrong direction. . . And for what purpose? and b) twice in six months on the same wheel? internet research reveals several other incidents of broken lug studs, everyone seeming to attribute it to an odd, one-off incident. It is my option that the studs are defective and a result of stress fatigue. One post on a Nissan forum sited someone who actually found a crack in one of the studs that had not yet broken off. I strongly urge an investigation into this situation - someone is going to die as a result of it. I am also going to seek to have Nissan replace all the studs on my truck although I expect they will refuse leaving it to me to do it at my own cost.

35 Wheel problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 05/31/2011

Back in may of 2011 I was driving my Nissan Titan truck down the highway with my two girls 6 & 7 year old when I heard the truck making a noise out of the rear . I slow down and immediately pulled over to the side of road not knowing what had happened. I drove the vehicle back to my home and called the dealership. When I took my 2005 Nissan Titan to the dealership in vineland new jersey they stated that the problem with my truck was the rear and needed to be replaced. They stated that the repair cost for the whole rear was $3,800 in order for it to be repaired. They stated that my truck was out of warranty by 2 months even though I only had 38,836 miles on it. I asked why couldn't the pumpkin in the rear be fixed and Nissan stated they do not just fix the pumpkin. They would have to replace the whole rear in the truck costing me $3,800. 00. I cailed eaton and spoke to ryan divine. Eaton rep stated that he has never heard of this problem, part (tt913a582) eaton posi. Ryan stated to me that they make this rear for Nissan. Ryan stated that Nissan engineers, engineer part and they only make it for them. I took the vehicle to a local shop to be repaired which stated that the repairs would cost me $1,358. 90. The auto repair center that I took my Nissan titian to, stated that there was many many many complaints about the rears in the Nissan Titans starting from 2005 to 2010. It was actually being reported online search. As I looked online I could see many complaints about the Nissan Titan rears with the same problem. So my question to the government supervisor paid by taxpayers, does it take 30 people to die in order to fix the problem and blame it on Nissan just like you did to gm. Fix the problem. So go online and read. Take matters seriously!! I extricate people out of vehicles for a living when they are in car accidents dead or alive. Thank you t. S.
