While my daughter was pulling out of a parking lot onto the street, the steering suddenly locked. This has happened a few times before. The car had stalling issues and would occur when the car stalled, but this time and several other times the car did not stall. This is very dangerous and I have seen many of the same complaints online friom other drivers. I can't believe no action has been taken on this issue.
Due to rust corrosion on the underneath frame and carriage of this vehicle, the control arm on both sides has snapped out of place. This has affected my steering capabilities. It also almost caused a serious accident on the highway. I am lucky to be alive. The vehicle is with my mechanic and I will include as many pictures as I can. The recall states that the undercarriage of the vehicle may have unnecessary rust and unfortunately my pin number has been involved. The rust corrosion is so severe that the frame is literally rotting completely out. There is holes you can see through all over the frame of this vehicle. I feel as though Nissan not only put my immediate life in danger but also many other drivers on the road as well. I was in the air force and they are reactivating me back into service due to the covid. Problem is that I no longer have a vehicle that will get me from ohio down to mississippi.
While driving, I was going about 25mph, but was coming to an intersection. Before getting to the intersection the light was blinking yellow due to the time so I started to slow down so I could yield through the light. At this time, my son who was 3yrs 2mo old (at the time) was in the backseat in his carseat. As I gradually stepped on the brake pedal, I then felt a big slam, and my face smacked the airbag and dust flew all over my vehicle, and son in the backseat who didnt have an airbag deploy. As I came to realize what happened my son was in the backseat screaming and I had smoke coming from my hood. I hit a city light pole outside of a 7-eleven store. I was unsure of what happened that caused the accident, but after it happened I got out of my car in complete shock of what hit me. My son was in pullups, and the gel stuff inside the diaper had flew all over my car as it caused the seatbelt to tighten around his legs. I grabbed my son out of the car, because it was smoking and the first thing I should have done was not moved. When I got out of car to see what hit me, I stayed on the sidewalk and waited 35mins for a cop, so by the time the cop came, who never called ems, told me I was being cited and they took my vehicle to the impound lot. The car then was considered totalled and because I was in an accident, gasoline was leaking and they said it was considered hazardous. I didn't nor did my child receive medical attention because we did not have medical insurance at the time but the officer didnt call ems. I then had to pay to get my things from the vehicle from the impound lot, and they were treating me very poorly about what I could grab and what had to left with it. I also had to pay court costs, and fines and due to this accident, I have suffered trauma, and my son im sure has also. My body has major pains as well as my legs, hips, neck and severe lower back pain. I am unable to care for my child as he needs at times because my body hurts so bad, I cant help.

Nhtsa recall 16v-349.
Lower ball joint on driver's side broke, causing front wheels to splay.
Vehicle intermittently starting making thumping sound and resistance squeaking when turning right at 28k miles. Would only do so when warmed up. At approximately 36k became progressively worse. Fear there will be a near future steering loss due to defective steering in this vehicle. Expect problem with steering assembly. Purchased car new in 2009 from another Nissan dealer. Local Nissan service oiled on 3 Aug 12. Worked for a few days and now is much worse. Nissan north America gave claim number, but will not provide assistance. I read online this is likely a manufacturer defect and should be a full recall. Local Nissan dealer claims they are not aware and told me I would be required to pay $400 or more to fix. Car recently went out of warranty at 36k and issue was known prior to expiration and reported. Nissan dealers are independent and obviously not held to a corporate service standard, or they would of fixed it by now. I have read that this issue has led to various crashed with the same make/model and year of car.
On June, 2008 I purchase Nissan Versa from an insurance auction. The damages on the vehicle were on rear end, and front bumper was missing. No damages on the front. I personally fixed the body damages and present the vehicle to salvage inspection. The vehicle successfully passed the test and was registered with restore salvage title. Odometer was showing little over 12000mi. The first 1000mi. I didnt have any problems. When the vehicle reached about 13000mi. I noticed a clunking and knocking noise in the front end of the vehicle and I felt it in the steering wheel. The noise was coming from passenger side. All these issues are acting when the vehicle is driving slowly and making right turn going up on the driveway or down on the driveway. I asked the dialer if the car is still covered with manufacture warranty although it has restore salvage title. The answer clearly no. I did some research on the net for recalls and surprisingly I found forums which discuss the same problems. Despite numerous complaints on the net and even after the dealer acts and tries to fix the vehicles by replacing multiple parts and components the problem are still existing. All this is very disappointing and I dont see any reasons to visit the dealer and trust them to fix it. I didnt see any recall information for the problems listed above. Im european certified mechanic and im working with different vehicles, but ive never seen such a problem! I inspected my vehicle multiple times and could not find any reason for this noise. Today 07/08/2010 two years after I first notice this problem the noise is much louder. I still cant find any reason for this noise. It seems like Nissan dealers dont have clear answer which part causes this noise. Please take all this into consideration and investigate further this issue. Please note there has not been accident with this vehicle yet because of the written above. To fill this complaint I'm putting today's date.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Versa. While driving 25 mph, the contact suddenly noticed that the vehicle began to stall. Neither the brakes nor the power steering were operable. The current and failure mileages were 38,000.
