The contact inspected underneath the vehicle and became aware that a part had fractured underneath the vehicle. The contact was able to reverse into the parking space. Several independent mechanics were contacted and advised that the failure might be related to the front coil springs corrosion and associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 15v573000 (suspension); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that even though the vehicle was not registered in the states listed in the recall, the vehicle had been driven in one of the states listed while the contact was in school. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

4 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2019

The coil springs that Nissan installed in my car due to the 2015 recall have, now, both broken again. This is a major safety issue. Nissan consumer affairs refuses to help me with the cost of replacing these faulty parts because they are out of warranty! I have been dealing with this issue since 2012 when the first coil spring broke, punctured my tire, and almost caused a serious accident. The car was in motion when the most recent break happened, I was turning out of my alley way onto the road.

5 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

While driving in the freeway and on the street several occasions, my car was feeling as if it was going to die on me with low power. I felt really unsafe. One day, I was driving, the car was too weak, I decided to drive it directly to Nissan dealership in cerritos because I knew that was it, I was going to definetly be stranded. I was there for about 5 hours and finally I was told that the coil needed replacement. Less than a year, I was told the coil needed to be replaced again. I recently saw on kelly blue book website that the coil is a recall. I notified the dealer and I am told that it is not a recall.

12 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2017

I received a recall notice saying that my driver side airbag made by takata needs to be replaced and that parts will not be available until the spring of 2018, and that Nissan would supply me with a loaner car until the parts were available, when I talked to the dealer ship they said that I'm not eligible for a loaner because I'm only 23 years old, meaning if your under 25 it's ok to drive a car that could take your life. Also I found out that my passenger side airbag and front springs have a recall on them that I was never notified about, so my question is are company aloud to leave unsafe vehicle on the road leaving me to hope nothing will happen because of my age? I have no tickets or accidents and I've been driving sense I was 16 years old. Thank you adam coots 510-453-9137.

13 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Vehicle experiences knocking in the steering column at low speeds/stationary when turning the steering wheel clockwise and counter clockwise. This knocking symptom is amplified when vehicle travels over uneven surface at any speed. When braking at speeds, the steering wheel shifts violently in operators hands. Rotors and pads as well as strut assembly was replaced in an attempt to correct the issue. Symptoms continued after these replacements. Tie rod ends and swing bars were later replaced with no positive results. This leave the assumption that the issue is related to the power steering system. Possible defect in the rack and pinion steering unit.

14 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2017

My car is under 100,000 miles and failed inspection due to sub frame bushing missing. The mechanic told me these parts usually last for up to 200,000 miles. He also told me my tire could've come right off the car with this part missing. This could've cause a major accident or fatality! can you please look into this. I've down some research and have found lots of Versas from 2007-2009 models have been having the same problems.

15 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2016

I am a us marine serving in germany. Nissan has been refusing to replace my front springs in accordance with the recall because I am not in north America. Last month one of them broke on the highway. Luckily, no one was hurt.

16 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2016

Loud clunking/popping noise coming from front of car while driving.

17 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2016

My Nissan Versa was recalled last year for faulty coil springs. The letter said that parts will be ready in January 2016. I made an appointment with my dealer to have the parts ordered and replaced. It is almost April 2016 and the parts are not available. I call my dealer once a month, they have now chosen to screen their phone calls and will not answer any service calls about the recall. I think that Nissan is not prepared to handle this recall on the Versa.

18 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2016

20 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2015

My Nissan Versa was recalled for front springs to be replaced. I had already had the springs replaced because they broke. I was informed that I had to have the springs replaced again to satisfy the recall. The struts were rusted out, but were not part of the recall. I had to pay to have the struts replaced when the dealership broke them removing them to replace the springs. The struts and springs are one unit and should have been part of the recall. The springs did not need replaced. I was charged over $250 for a recall repair that was supposed to be covered by Nissan.

The manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the contact's vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was not experiencing a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

25 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2015

As I was driving, suddenly my tire blew. There was a load noise. I had to pull over right away. When we took the tire off there was a gash surrounding the entire tire. When I went to get new tires, I was told that the spring was broken and that it was the cause of my tire blowing. They said it was very unusual for a spring and strut to have to be replaced with my car being not that old with not that many miles on it.

26 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2015

After dropping my vehicle at the dealer for other service, I was notified that the left front spring was broken, and that the axle boot was leaking. Both necessitated replacement.

27 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2015

I was pulling out of the driveway and heard a loud scratching noise and then my tire went flat. Cut the inside of the tire. 2 weeks later went to my mechanic for something else and he said the rear spring was broke and so was the other front. Grateful that nothing happened while driving at higher speed.

28 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

Backing out of my driveway I heard a grinding noise, and when I got down to the street and put it into drive, I heard a loud pop and ping from the front end of the passenger side. Part of the passenger side spring had broken off. I pulled it immediately back into the driveway. Upon inspection, I found a piece of the spring in the road and noted that the passenger side front of the car was lower than the other. I called a tow truck, had it towed to my mechanic and they found that the spring had indeed broken off. The spring was not rusty, it is currently 6 years old and has only 45k miles on it. Since there are no aftermarket parts for this and Nissan sells spring, mount, strut (not an assembly), they are forced to put on all Nissan parts which makes me nervous that it will happen again. The mechanic advised I was extremely lucky this did not happen while I was driving as the spring had gone through the strut and was very close to shredding the tire. Upon researching this to see if there was a recall, I could not believe the amount of complaints I found about the very same thing happening to other people. I hope Nissan steps up or is forced to do a recall and reimburses me, as I had both sides replaced and it cost me $1266, not including the $80 for towing. I am just thankful it didn't happen while I was driving, as it has happened to others.

29 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2015

First 3/4 of passenger side coil just snapped off and the rest shot past the spring seat on the way down just bending the brake line not kinking it and missed the anti lock brake sensor wire. After further inspection driver side coil was snapped in around the same spot, just didn't end up off the spring seat. 250 dollars worth of parts plus mechanic labor. Luckily it broke in the driveway. Mechanic said I definately would have gotten in an accident if I was moving more than 30mph.

30 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Driving along, heard a loud pop as I turned onto a major roadway. The car was pulling very badly to the left side and could barely stop the vehicle. Had to have the car towed home and the struts replaced on the car. After doing some research this seems to be a common and very costly issue. I was quoted $930 to have this issue resolved. Not a happy Nissan owner.

31 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2015

Navigating slow, 90' left turn, heard metallic object sliding across roadway behind us. Upon investigation found the bottom 3/4 ring of the front drivers spring snapped off. Very small rusted pit visible, the rest of the tear appears to have occurred all at once - no aging evident on the exposed metal. Estimate to replace both front struts and springs is $982.

32 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2015

While pulling out of my garage and having gone no more than 3 feet I heard a very loud snap and a grinding sound coming from the right front wheel. Having read about the spring issue I knew what it was and immediately backed up into the garage. Had this happened 15 minutes later I would have been on the highway going 55 mph and probably rolled the car. There is no excuse for Nissan not addressing this issue. They know of the problem and I see that the 2010 Versas also have the problem. My dealer is well aware of the issue and stocks the springs. I replaced both springs at the same time to save further grief. There is also no excuse for the NHTSA and dot for not forcing a recall on the springs. I guess they wish to kill a few people first.

33 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2015

After smelling rubber burning and the car not handling correctly. I checked the suspension to find both coil springs (passenger and drivers side) were broken. The drivers side broken coil was applying pressure to the inside wall of the tire wearing a large groove in the entire diameter of the tire. This could have cause serious injury and must be addressed by Nissan and or the supplier of the springs. The repair was expensive (coil, struts and a tire).

34 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2015

I was backing my car out of my driveway when I heard a loud sound. Nothing external caused this - I did not hit anything, run over anything, etc. After the incident the front end of the car was much lower than it was previously. I also actually found a piece of the strut spring on my driveway.

35 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2015

Nissan Versa 2009 two (2) broke springs in less than 2 years. The second broke spring was the front left spring, it broke when making a left turn at about 5mph.
