Three problems related to brake disc pads have been reported for the 2013 Nissan Versa. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
It was a rainy day outside. The front and back brake pads/shoes were replaced 10,000 miles previously at a Nissan dealership in dover, OH. I was driving on normal pavement. I drove on a highway at speed limit of 70 mph. I drove on a village main st at a speed limit of 25 mph. It did not matter what speed or whether the vehicle was straight or turning: whenever the brake pedal was depressed there was a loud clunking noise. After that, when the gas pedal was depressed there was another clunking noise. The noise was coming from the brakes. I asked a passenger to join me to test the noise and even let them drive. They confirmed. The noise suddenly stopped after 30 minutes of driving. Once it stopped we pulled over and popped the hood and smelled what seemed to be brake fluid. Checked all the fluids in the car and they were fine.
I took my new 2013 Nissan Versa back for the new brakes shoes as directed by my dealer. I am told they replaced the back brake pads and had to turn the rotors. I have never had a new car with this kind of issue. The man who talked to me talked about dust and rust as possible reasons or even setting a car up & not using it. . . My car is always parked inside and an 8 month old car with nine thousands miles plus hardly "sets up. " I want to carry my grandchildren in this car & now fear there is a defect in the braking system. The squealing crunching sound the car was making is gone.
My rear brakes started squealing just after 6300 miles, not consistently. My dealer checked them & said they were fine. Today I took it back and was told the rear pads needed to be replaced. My car has just over 9,000 miles on it currently. I looked this problem up on Nissan blogs and found many others experiencing similar brake problems.
