2 Fuel Pump problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Tried starting the car; engine would not turn over. Was stranded in a parking lot close to my mechanic's shop and called him. Mechanic sent his assistant to the parking lot where I was and he tried to get the car to turn over. He said he thought the engine was not getting fuel. Car was towed to mechanic and it was determined that fuel pump was broken. Mechanic had difficulty finding a replacement Nissan fuel pump. Fuel pump was obtained and installed at my expense. Mechanic felt that fuel pump should not have had to be replaced on a 5 year old car.

5 Fuel Pump problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 05/26/2011

I have a 2008 Versa that is repeatedly having issues starting. I have had everything checked and it seems to be the fuel pump. I am afraid I will end up stranded in the middle of nowhere when it finally goes out since I am having to turn the key for a few seconds before I can start the car and that is if I can even get it to start. It sometimes makes me run of gas even though I had plenty of gas in the car when I originally tried to start it. Since I normally have to drive a distance, this is going to leave me stranded one day and I am not sure if I like having to pay to have it replaced when I see that there are other people with the same issue with the same car.

Failure Date: 02/08/2011

Significant loss of fuel efficiency at around 51k miles in January 2011. All of a sudden had to start filling tank up more frequently and noticed it would shudder at random. On February 8, 2011 I was sitting idle in a parking space in park with engine running and the engine shuddered and then shut off. Battery was fine but engine would crank but not come on. Was told fuel pump needed replacement, Nissan would not acknowledge as a problem and said I would be charged 3 hours of labor to replace while the service station I use said it would only require 1 labor hour. Had it replaced for almost $600. I bought what I thought was a reliable car, but after this and having the fuel door becomming disconnected frequently, I am not feeling confident.

Failure Date: 04/30/2010

While driving on entrance ramp and accelerating, vehicle suddenly died with no power to the steering, brakes or acceleration. Vehicle was in center lane had trouble steering to the right to get to shoulder. After turning key back and forth several times, the lights and dash came back on but would not start. Car cranked but would not start. Car was towed to dealership. Was told the fuse to fuel pump blew. That would not explain the electrical system shutting down. If I was in traffic, this would have caused accident with no control over vehicle steering. Waiting on cause for fuse to blow from dealer.

12 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/11/2010

My car has not been turning on once a month and now it's about once a week it was crank at all. One time I was driving on the highway with my kids and it just completely stopped. Please help me! I bought the platinum warranty on the car and the dealer refuses to even acknowledge the fact that it might not start. When I have taken it to the dealer it happens to turn on but it's not like I know when and where it will not turn on. I have been doing research and have found that lots of Nissan Versa owners are having the same problem. They say it is the fuel pump. I told the dealer this and they refuse to even humor me that it might be just that. A recall is in order please!!!.

13 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 09/20/2009

I purchased a 2007 Nissan Versa. The last week I have had nothing but problems. The first time I took it in was because it would not start. They told me it was a fuel pump. It was replaced. After I got the car back it started to have no power when I pushed on the gas petal. Because of this I was almost hit several times trying to pull out into traffic. The transmission would not shift and the rpm's would be very high. If sounded like the motor was going to blow up. I have taken it into the shop again and now they are claiming that it is a mass air flow sensor. This vehicle is only 2 years old why are these things happening? I have had people slam on their brakes so that they would not hit me even when the gas petal is all the way to the floor trying to make the vehicle move. This is a very serious problem.

14 Fuel Pump problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 08/24/2009

The engine is very difficult to start on the first attempt. My 2008 Nissan Versa hatchback has about 20000 km on it an has had the fuel pump replaced once already under warranty by the dealer about one year ago. Now I am encountering the same problem again. If you leave the ignition turned on for 15 to 30 seconds then the car will start. I suspect the fuel pump has a problem building up sufficient pressure to deliver fuel to the car and that is why it will start on a second attempt.

16 Fuel Pump problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 07/30/2009

Hello I have a Nissan Versa 2008 which has 22000 miles on it. This is the 4th time in less than 2 months it fails on me in the middle of the highway. Just stop taking fuel and everytime the dealer is saying the pump needs to be changed. There is a defect in the Nissan Versa model of 2008 and they should be recalled. It happened to me while driving 60 mph and all of a sudden stop taking gas and I cant steer the wheel. Thank god everytime the highway was empty and I could fight with the steering wheel (cause the car is down) to take it to the side road and call a tow truck. Please investigate the Nissan Versa fuel pump problem. . . It is a safety hazard and it should be recalled.

17 Fuel Pump problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 07/15/2009

My 2008 Nissan Versa abruptly slows from 60 mph to 30 mph and gradually slows to a stop. This only occurs after I have driven between 70 to 150 miles. It has happened 3 times. 19 Fuel Pump problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 08/24/2008

Engine will not start on first attempt. . . . Just dry cranking. On the second try, it usually starts. My 2008 Versa only has 2,300 miles. The problem is getting worse with each day. I have read reports that replacing the fuel pump solves the problem temporarily, but often times people have had multiple fuel pumps replaced after very short periods of time. Nissan needs to fix this!!!.

20 Fuel Pump problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 06/21/2008

Needs new fuel pump just three days in. Never had problem with Versa ever and then it all of a sudden left me on road. Three top mechnics are confused why my 2008 already needs a fuel pump. They said that it should not be broken and the part is only available to order because it shouldnt even be broken three years in. I took it to the Nissan dealer first and they said I would need to replace fuel pump and they declined to mention why or how it could happened. They seem like they know something and wont share.

21 Fuel Pump problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 05/26/2008

After vehicle runs for a while, then left to sit for about 1-1/2 hours, starting the vehicle becomes difficult. Long crank time. Took to dealer where purchased. Was told by Nissan vehicle did not apply to TSB ntb-07-094. Nissan technical support told technician to measure fuel drop after running vehicle, then let sit for 30 minutes. 22 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/15/2008

Purchased car July 2007. In spring 2008, fuel pump replaced due to car (a) getting poor gas mileage (b) taking 2-3 cranks to start (c) feeling like no power was getting to the pedal. Started having issues again February 2009. Went on a trip March 2009 for two weeks. When I returned, the car took 5 minutes to start with a full tank of gas after cranking at least 5 or 6 times. Taking to the dealer next week. Today, started fine, but no power behind pedal and poor mileage. Should have kept my beat up truck, which was just as reliable.

23 Fuel Pump problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/03/2008

Very hard to crank. This is a intermittent problem, but it is also getting worse.

24 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 12/18/2007

I purchased my Nissan Versa July 2007. That winter, I was having hard start issues on a full tank, the car seemed to be slowing down when I had my foot on the gas, I was getting about 18 miles to the gallon, and the car made funny noises. I took it to the dealership three times. On the third visit, they told me that the fuel pump regulator had been recalled and needed to be replaced. For about 3 months, the gas mileage was great, and I had not problems starting the vehicle. Then, I the next winter, I was having hard start problems again. The dealership told me it must just be the cold weather. Well this past winter, yet again hard start issues. I am also getting poor gas mileage, slowing down when my foot is on the gas, etc. I took it back to the dealership, and the technician said "OH well, you are out of warranty. . . I can help you find a good price. " I should not be having these issues with a new car. The scariest part is the slowing down while my foot is on the gas. This is especially noticeable when I have it on cruise control.

25 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 09/26/2007

I had purchased a new 2007 Versa from star Nissan on 9/22/07. A couple of days later, I found out the cd player was non-functional. A day or two later, I realized I was having problems starting the car. On 9/26, I brought the car in to see what the problem was. I was told on 9/27 that it had a faulty fuel pump and that the part they needed won't be available until 10/10/07. Obviously, it is unacceptable for me to be without my brand new car for a week and a half.
