As has been documented in 29 previous complaints on this site, Nissan Versa has known failure of exhaust system flange within 36-48 months, resulting in muffler failure and dangerous levels of toxic fumes entering cabin and outside air. Potential loss of muffler while driving also creates risk of accident and injury to car passengers and/or other vehicles on road. Expense to repair via midas in this circumstance was $474, with this one location reporting this as "standard" issue with all Nissan's, for which they have completed "non stop" repairs. Nissan has refused to offer any assistance to customers on this issue. This is well documented, and a known safety hazard for both potential accidents and air poisoning dot needs to investigate and hold Nissan accountable for recall and repair of this flange.

The car it not start, I took it with a technical and he said is the gas pump, all Nissan Versa year 2009 they have the problem, Nissan they never make a recall.
My Versa has had intermittent issues with starting, but in the past it always did. The main issue was that the engine was not getting fuel. Yesterday it quit all together and I am informed that it needs to be replaced to the tune of $600. There is a technical service bulletin for this issue, but Nissan says I have to pay for it.

Replaced the continuously variable transmission on 09/13/2011 at 92524 miles. Approximately 2 weeks later my daughter was driving vehicle and the car stalled. The car will run but when put it in gear it will not go anywhere or rev up. This car has been to three mechanics including Nissan dealership and the problem cannot be found. Numerous parts were changed out but did not solve the problem. Sometimes it will drive for a short distance (less than a block) and then will be unmoveable again. This car has been undrivable since September 2011. They are a hazard on the highway due to the fact you never know when they are going to shut down. Also we are paying for a car that is undrivable.
There seems to be a problem starting my 2007 Nissan Versa (cvt) in the mornings. Doesn't happen every time but when you go to start it cold the car will not start and sometimes takes up to 30 seconds to start. Other times you can be driving at around 25 mph and then the car hesitates and the speedometer drops to zero and the care hesitates for about 3-4 seconds and then picks back up. I took to abq reliable Nissan and they say they cannot duplicate the problem but I can see by the Nissan forums that I'm not the only one with this problem. It's not safe (car hesitating in traffic) and not starting is a major problem. Should have bought the Honda fit!.

2007 Nissan Versa bought brand new in oct. 06 - has had "extended" crank since day 1, but now has faulty fpr (fuel pressure regulator) failure at 54,434 miles. Warranty expired at 3/36,000. Car will not start intermittently leaving me stranded for 15 minutes or more. You have to "pump" the gas to try and get it to start and heavy odor of fuel in cabin of car results. Had to spend $101. 86 to get it diagnosed to see if Nissan would help, which they denied my claim. I have read numerous complaints on Versa's from 2007-2009 model years. Since my car is the first model year it has the old faulty fpr. As a result of extended cranking and having to crank car multiple times it has killed my battery which now needs replaced as well. This should not be happening, as Nissan is well aware of the problem, they need to make it right.
In 2008, we began to notice intermittent starting problems with our 2007 Nissan Versa; the car would not start after prolonged cranking of the starter. In may 2009, we took the car to the dealership to undergo diagnostics and repair. They found the problem to be a faulty fuel pressure regulator and replaced the part under warranty. Five months later, the problem reappeared. The Versa went back to the dealer for the same repair, in November 2009, and again replaced the part under warranty. Since the last repair, the Versa was driven infrequently during the first half of 2010, and therefore, didn’t accumulate significant mileage. In the summer of 2010, the car was driven regularly again, with the starting problem reappearing in October 2010. We have not been able to take the car in for service until January 2011. This marks the third repair for the same problem. Unfortunately, the Versa has exceeded the factory warranty (38k miles) and we are paying out of pocket for this repair. This problem is not isolated to us. I have done some research on this issue and the same problem is shared my many other north american Versa owners across many enthusiast internet forums, car sites, blogs and other locations. With that in mind, I called Nissan consumer affairs and stated my case. The reply was simply that Nissan has not recognized this problem as a recall or campaign. We made the decision to purchase a new vehicle based on safety and reliability. We have lost confidence in our Nissan Versa, as every time we take the wheel we’re left wondering whether it will or will not start. I cannot accept the fact that a modern, low-mileage, three-year-old vehicle will occasionally not start, thereby, creating a situation of potential danger to family. While this problem does not consitute an imminent threat such as a brake failure or tire defect, having your car become inoperable can lead to dangerous outcomes as well. Nissan is not addressing a significant problem.
I own a Nissan Versa 2009 and I am constantly having problems with starting the vehicle, like it is not getting enough fuel or something. Also, last week I was driving the vehicle and it suddenly would not go when I pushed on the gas. I took my vehicle to the dealer and on the way there it started working fine, I left it at the dealer anyways and they kept it for three days and called me up and said that they could not replicate the problem and therefore there is nothing they can do. My vehicle is still having problems and this time my wife was turning a corner onto a busy highway and almost got in an accident because the car would hardly move and the other car was going really fast. The dealer refuses to do anything about it unless they can replicate the problem, this is a serious safety issue and I have kids that drive in the car with me. They even charged me money to diagnose the vehicle and there was no diagnoses they said "there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. ".
Fuel gauge on 2009 Nissan Versa completely stopped working. Looked on the net for advise on how to fix it, to my surprise there are 7 pages of people with the exact same complaint. Nissan says its not their prob. I say these people are pushing lemons and then when something fails they say its not their problem. There needs to be something done about this issue because it is clearly not an isolated incident.
Having issue with hard start with vehicle taking a long time cranking in order to catch. While reading other consumers issues with their Versa dying out in traffic I would like to avoid that as I have a baby on the way.
I was on the highway with my cruise set to 72mph, we did turn the ac on and a few minutes after that the car shut off and I had to force the wheel to get the car to the side of the road. Thank god I was in the left lane because if not I would have been stuck in the middle of the highway. I got my car most of the way off the road but when I tried to restart it would not restart. I called for a tow truck and I did try to start it again while waiting and still nothing. It was a very scary experience to be sitting on the side of a highway because my car just shut off.
I purchased my 2007 nissa Versa in 2007. In 2008, I began to notice intermittent starting problems(hard to crank engine); the car would not start after prolonged cranking attempts. In may 2008, I took the car to the dealership to undergo diagnostics and repair; they found the problem to be a faulty fuel pressure regulator and replaced the part under warranty, five months later, the problem reappeared. I took my Nissan Versa back to the dealer for the same repair, in November 2009, and the dealer refused to repair my car being that I was roughly 2,000 miles over my warranty perirod. Since then the cranking problem with my Nissan Versa has become more prevalent and as a result I've recently had my first battery replacement becuase I destroyed my original battery from extensive cranking! the Nissan corp. And north american Nissan should honor the numerous complaints for a serious issue!.
I own a 2009 Versa with 5120 miles. Recently it has developed a problem that causes it to have a substantial delay in starting. It is intermittent during the day but happens at least once daily. I plan to have the vehicle serviced for this problem shortly, but wanted to register this problem as it has already happened to at least one other complainant.
Our 2007 Nissan Versa has a ignition starting problem. It is a brand new car and will not start. You have to crank it to get it to start. There are complaints across north America on this problem. The sales manager at orlando Nissan told me I will have to go through the service department and I already know others have failed at getting this problem fixed numerous times. This is a material defect and I am concerned for the safety of my wife and seven year old. It also has a loud clicking in the car when you turn the wheel hard to the left. There is no fix and the service departments will surely string this out and cost us time away from work and home and replace other things that are not causing it just to look proactive. I am not satisfied with that and would like the department to consider investigating this to recall this vehicle for an unsafe engine.
Vehicle does not start right away. It occurs at least once a day. I took my vehicle to Nissan service department four times, no problem has been found. The service department replaced a fuel regulator assuming that was the problem, but the problem still have not fixed.
Sometimes the car will start the first time the starter is engaged. Sometimes it just cranks and cranks. It has never completely failed to start, just sometimes it won't on the first or second try. Happens at least once a day like this.
My specific complaint is false advertising. When I purchased my vehicle Nissan advertised the vehicle a Versa with cvt trans as getting 30/36 mpg. My vehicle has never gotten anywhere near these figures. My last fill up, mostly highway miles was 22 mpg. The service dept. States everything is running correctly in the engine. It is funny but now the service dept tells me the mpg is 28/33 not 30/36. I bought a car that I thought was going to have good fuel economy and it is not much better than my SUV.
I purchased a brand new Nissan Versa in August and the mileage stated on the car was 35/28. The car is only getting 27/17 which is very poor and the dealer states that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. Nissan refuses to help stating that the window sticker is just and estimate, beware of Nissan.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Versa. When the contact started the ignition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained lit until the engine was turned off. The failure has been occurring ever since the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer on twelve occasions and they stated that the fuel cap failed. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 400. Updated 03-04-09 updated 03/05/09.
