Ignition Module problems of the 1997 Oldsmobile 88

Three problems related to ignition module have been reported for the 1997 Oldsmobile 88. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 07/17/1998

While driving 45 mph vehicles engine died for no reason. Dealer found a faulty code from vehicle computer.

2 Ignition Module problem

Spark plug wires burned out at the plug end, causing engine to misfire and buck. Delaer has replaced the ignition wires. However, the problem has reoccurred.

3 Ignition Module problem

The engine stalls while the vehicle is in motion. Has been to dealer 2 times and problem cannot be duplicated. Dealer felt the problem was a combination of a computer problem and fuel injection problem, Oldsmobile took vehicle back.
