When vehicle is turned on it takes a long time to start, and it idles very roughly. When vehicle makes right turns there is an annoying squeaking sound coming from the brakes.
Caliper made out of aluminum will not release when applied. I have purchased several new brake pads and 2 sets of rotors before a mechanic found the problem and he said it happened a lot on this model.
In order to keep the car stopped, it was necessary to apply an excessive amount of pressure to the brake pedal. There was also a pulsation when applying the brakes. Diagnosis: pad and rotor failure. According to dealership, "necessary to replace the pads and rotors per bulletin. " on my invoice it was written, "all warranty repairs are a one time out of warranty goodwill policy adjustment. Vehicle is out of warranty in terms of time. " the vehicle was fine after the repairs. That is, it was fine until now (3000 miles later). I am now having similar problems with the brakes. I am due to take the vehicle back in and have the brakes examined.
Brakes pulsate during light braking. Car shakes badly. Warping sound can be louldly heard from front of vehicle in any wet conditions. Tires on vehicle are brand new. Car has been very well maintained. Brakes were replaced once for same issue in June 01. Corrected problem for short period of time. Problem has arisen again. Dealership unable to diagnose/fails to recognize a problem.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
Rotors refaced and pads replaced with only 22500 miles on vehicle (all at my expense). I find it very odd that rotors have to be refaced with only 22k miles on a vehicle. The dealer was asked 4 1/2 months ago to check the brakes and their idea of checking the brakes consisted of driving the car, which obviously didn't show them that there may have been a problem arising with the rotors. Furthermore after reading many of the complaints on this site it seems as though there may be a problem that general motors is not telling us about. Lets hope no serious accidents happen because of this problem.
Will someone have to die before GMC takes care of this problem. No safety defect stated.
Rotors and pads replaced 5 times, please recall. Also, front wheel bearings wore out causing excessive tire wear and vague steering feel.
Brakes warped for the second time this time dealer replaced both rotors and pads and said thay had a bullitin 00-05-23-002 the rotors on this car are a major defect.
Rotors are too thin to handle heat genarated by disc pads, resulting in out of round condition.
The front brakes and rotors were replaced due to vibration problems.
I have taken the vehical to be fixed under warranty 3 time starting in July 2000, sept 2001 at the same dealership (schaumburg olds) and third time to martin j kelly. First two time, the problem was that the when depressing the brakes I got a pulsation and vibration felt through the pedal. The third time, the rotors sounded as if theyw ere grinding and braking was difficult to apply. First time the vehicval had 7957 miles and third time 21,000 miles. I am going to take the vehical back again next week because the grinding sound has now returned even when brakes are not applied and the car is rolling. There would appear to be a manufacturer defect for the vehical to require such a repeated number of trips to the dealer. The dealers have resurfaced the rotors and may have changed them on one occasion. My concern is wehether the brakes on the vehical will fail at some point in time as a result of this rotor/brake issue.
Rotors and pads needed to be replaced for a second time 11/13/00 at 11340 miles. First replaced 07/10/00 at 8500 miles. I have only had car for 9 months. Please help with any suggestions. I am not happy with the complaints I have seen on this car.

Transmission was slipping & eventually stopped & wouldn't go in reverse. Dealer put new transmission in on 04-17- 2000, it locked up on 5-29-2000. Vehicle wouldn't move in any gear. To be transported to the dealer. Dealer will attempt to put another transmission in. Also, brakes were grinding when coming to a stop. Dealer said brakes were okay.

The car has worn out two set of brake pads in 30000 miles, two set of rotors, and one set of callipers. I called the dealer about the problem and was told that it would not be any need to bring the car to them that there was no way that they could check out the brakes. They could not tell me what the problem is even if they checked the car so there was no need for me to bring the car to them.
Consumer has replaced front brake system about 6 times. Mechanic stated there was a service bulletin. However, has not been able to repair the occurring problem.
