On 10/07 I was involved in a head on collision while operating a 2000 olds Alero which I purchased new. The air bags never deployed. The vehicle is a total loss and everyone that saw the car agrees the air bags should have deployed. Do you know of any other problems and where I might turn for answers and what recourse I may have.

Was involved in a frontal collision on 3/5/03 and the air bags failed to deploy in my 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. I was traveling 40-45 mph southbound on scottsdale rd when another car turned left in front of me. The impact bent the impact bars, moved my compressor to the other side of the vehicle, hood, bumper, fender damage, the preliminary estimate without doing a tear down is at $5000. 00. I have suffered neck, shoulder and leg injuries. I contacted gm and they said a certified gm rep will go look at the car and take pictures and will contact me on the 29th. I received a call from a man who did not identify himself at the dealer ship and said he was a private investigator for gm and down loaded the info off the computer in the car and the air bag should not have gone off, and told me I need to have them start repairing the vehicle immediately. Yet in the owners manual it states the air bag will deploy in a near frontal or frontal impact and that they can only access this computer in the car with the owners consent which I did not give. I have had numerous problems with this car from electrical engine work, the fuel sensor showing me I had gas when I don't, scratched rotors, and the hazards and blinkers working and not working which still has not been fixed by the dealership. Even the police offers did not want to get in the vehicle to move because the air bag did not go off and they where concerned that it did not.
Consumer request that 2000 Oldsmobile Alero's be recalled and inspected to ascertain that the air bag will not deploy. The air bag in the consumer's 2000 Oldsmobile Alero deployed for no reason while driving into a gas station at about 5 mph.

While driving at 65 mph in the rain consumer depressed the brakes and they locked up, causing the driver to lose control of vehicle, and hit a large rock head on. Vehicle was in 2 severe head on collisions, and air bags failed to deploy. The passenger sustained injuries as a result of the second accident, and major frontal damage occurred. The first incident occurred when the consumer slid on wet pavement and hit the vehicle in front. The other vehicle sustained a cracked bumper and the consumer put scratches on theirs. The second incident involved the consumer hitting someone in the rear and did $6000. Dollars worth of damages to their own vehicle. The bumper was pushed back, both headlights were cracked, driver side fender dented and the hood was pushed back a couple of feet. The consumer's brother and friend both had similar accidents and the air bag deployed and slower speeds of impact.
I was in a car accident on 12/3/01. I crashed into the back of a Ford ranger. The front end of my car was greatly destroyed. I was not injured, I had my seatbelt on. However the airbag did not deploy. I am still waiting on a figure for the exact cost of repair. The impact was strong. The police officer at the scene said he was concerned that the bag did not deploy.
Vehicle was traveling aprox 15-20mph and rear ended a large SUV (surburban). Substantial damage was done to the front end of the Alero with minimal damage to the SUV. Estimate of damage is $5200 indicating major damage was done to vehicle. Air bag system did not deploy. Fortunately only minor injury (large bump on forehead from contact with roof of vehicle, seat belt burns and bruises) was incurred by driver of the Alero. My question is why the air bags did not deploy to lessen this impact. There has been other electrical problems with this vehicle. Wondering if there is a defect or damage to air bag system from earlier services?.
I was involved in a head on crash at 55mph with a gaurd rail after being cut off on an interstate. The body shop manager of where the vehicle was repaired stated that the air bags should have deployed based on the impact and the damage to the m/v the general manager, service manager and body shop manager from where I purchased the car confirmed this to be true as well. As a result of the accident I have undergone surgery and physical therapy (9 months worth), I was further informed by the insrance companies independent medical examiner that the injuries would have been far less severe if the air bags had deployed and that I am lucky to be alive. Furthermore I have picture of the m/v shortly after the accident and pictures proving that the air bags did not deploy should you require them. Sincerely, craig j. Camerlin.
