Other Fuel System Pump Problems of Oldsmobile Alero

Tl- the contact owns a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. The contact stated that while traveling 60 mph the vehicle was placed into cruise control and the vehicle immediately accelerated up to 80 mph before it slowed back down. The contact then stopped to get gasoline and stated that the vehicle would not start back up. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and it was determined that the fuel pump failed on the vehicle. The contact had that repaired, but that did not correct the problem. The contact then took the vehicle to a mechanic and it was determined that the ignition switch, the casing and the relay switch needed to be replaced. That did correct the problem. The contact spoke with the manufacturer regarding NHTSA recall campaign 07e021 (fuel system) and NHTSA recall campaign 03v327 (exterior lighting) however the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in those recalls. The current mileage was 43000. Rl.

Car cut off while driving, would not start, security light flashing, took to shop cost 800. 00 for new fuel pump, then a month later same deal come to find out it's the ignition switch having to due with the security, sometimes the car will not start sometimes it cuts off while driving. They need to recall this its very dangerous not to mention the 800. 00 spent for a fuel pump I guess I didn't need. You can reset it. Works only temp. Leave the key in the on position until the security light goes out thdn go straight to start, most the time this works. It is very dangerous for the car to shut off at 60 mph on the highway which has happen to us.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Car won't start. The car will try to start up, but will not turn over. It's like the gas has been disengaged. Also, the security light comes on. We have had the car towed several times to the mechanic. We have had the fuel injector and fuel pump replaced. Happens frequently now-am concerned it will stall in traffic and be a safety issue. Have started using the 10 min wait/re-start technique I have read about on the internet and it does work, but that is a "band-aid" not a cure.

The car shuts off while driving. It is horrible , steering wheel locks, and I practically have to brake my arms and back trying to turn it to get out of traffic. When it shuts off it makes and awful bussing noise and all display lights are lit up. I believe it maybe weather related because it mostly happens when it is hot outside. When I go to restart my car I have to turn the key to the on position, and make sure the service engine light turns on before I can start the car. Otherwise, it will turn over ,but won't fire up. When the light does come on I can hear something switching on towards the back of the car. Since I don't know much about cars I am assuming that it is the fuel pump. If anyone else has these same problems, and has an idea of a way to fix this ,please let me know so the car doesn't kill me.

All four of my window regulators have failed within a period of 2 months, I have replaced 3 of the four, the left rear door still has not been replaced do to the cost of parts for this car, in adition, I have had to replace the front calipers, brake pads and rotors on this vehicle 2 times within a period of 1 year, just before the last time I replaced them, my rear calipers went out, they will engage, but will stay locked, only releasing after I drive for about 20 feet or so, I have also experienced problems with the security system activating itself and not allowing me to start the car for at least 10 minutes ( the time it takes the system to recycle itself). In adddition, my door pannels coverings are all coming separated accross the top of of them, again do to the cost, I have failed to replace them. Unfortunatly this happened before I knew that so many people where having problems with the Oldsmobile Aleros, so I did not retain the old parts.
