1 Front Seat Recliner problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2002

While driving had to swirl to avoid hitting another vehicle, and it went into a ditch. At such time neither passenger's or driver's airbag deployed. Back rest flew forward. Both driver and passenger sustained some injuries. Consumer was traveling about 50 mph.

2 Front Seat Recliner problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2001

This vehicle has a 60/40 split folding rear seat. The wider side was designed to accomodate 2 latches to lock the seat bottom into place. However, the manufacturer only installed 1 latch. Therefore the seat bottom is not secure at the middle seating position and can be shaken considerably by hand. We will need to install at child seat in the middle postion. Due to the seat being inadequately secured, we are very concerned about the safety of our child or any rear seat passenger in the event of a crash. The dealer has refused to install a second latch, claiming that it is a safe design. I believe that, in addition to the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, that the rear seats of the 2002 Chevrolet trailblazer and 2002 GMC envoy also have only 1 latch for the wider rear seat. I think this should be investigated as it is a safety risk affecting a large number of new vehicles. Thank you for your assistance.
