2 Dash Wiring problem of the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 06/09/2003

Vehicle loses power to dash and all components controlled from dash including windshield wipers I have taken this into my dealer and he told me they couldn't find anything wrong, but they tightened some grounds. This almost caused me to have an accident during a heavy thunder storm when the windshield wipers quit for about 15 seconds at 65-70 miles an hour a vehicle can cover a lot of distance and I was blind for 15 seconds I managed to get over to the shoulder and actually was part way in the ditch when I got stopped. Then the wipers stared up again and will work again for awhile this has happened to me atleast 8 times only once did I almost wreck my vehicle though. The clock always has to be reset when this happens. Windshield wipers were on high setting when they stopped. Dash instruments backlight went dark and gauge needles all went to zero.

Dangerous driving on winter roads with low front bumper clearance. Other: transmission vibration. Evident when vehicle puchased on 8/29/02. Awd light appeared on and off began Dec. 25, 2002. Dealer said awd light problem was resolved on January 7, 2003.

5 Dash Wiring problem of the 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 08/23/2001

Total electrical loss causing engine shutdown. While driving with the ac on and the radio on during the day, within a 3 mile trip we experianced total electrical failure 2 times. The idiot lights will flash, the dash board needles will bounce and jump, and then everything shutsdown. Engine, brakes, power stearing, lights everything. We were able to drift to the side of the road, shift into park and restart the engine without any problem. If this had happend when we made the last left turn, we probably would have been nailed by a semi. The dealer has had the Bravada from 2 days without finding anything. They can not reproduce the problem. The battery is fine, the terminals are fine, they tested the computer and that is fine. I refuse to let anyone drive this until something is found and fixed.

6 Dash Wiring problem of the 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 04/01/2001

The service engine light comes on and 6 different transmissions trouble codes are set in the computer causing the transmission to go into a default mode that causes it not to have a first gear or high gear. The electrical dash gauges moy or may not work at times and the key may or may not come out of the switch when you try and shut the car off. I checked with a gm dealer and talked to the mechanic and as soon as I showed him the trouble codes and the number of times they had came up he told me what the problem was as he had seen it on many other gm cars before.

14 Dash Wiring problem of the 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 02/12/1999

On 2-12-1999 my wife was struck from behind by another vehicle and driven into a semi during a whiteout on i94 near marshall, michigan. Auto-owners insurance decided to repair the vehicle over our objections since this involved completely rebuilding the vehicle and installing a new frame. The car was in the body shop 11 weeks and we took possession only when the insurance company said they would only guarantee to repair any future items. Our first noticable objection was that door gaps were 125% greater than others. This led us to inspect the rest of the car very carefully. The following items were of concern. I will only go into what I would consider safety items not cosmetics. Loud vibration which turned out to be hood latchs never secured (this bothered me since it was indicative of other possible flaws from being completely rebuilt by hand. "grabbing" during tight turns - was repaired twice under bulletin 86-74-02 for "launch shudder" - our steering problem is not during takeoff but only the tight turns. The instruments occassionally go wacko and give false readings particularly the overhead. The airbags did not deploy in a crash that destroyed the frame. From all I have read tjhis could reoccur in a future collision and perhaps the inverse could occur and premature deployment result. Both the insurance company and the body shop(olds dealership) have given me letter assuring me they will fix any future defects but not guaranteeing they not occur. Rob the agent at les.

15 Dash Wiring problem of the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada

The 4wd stopped operating during inclement weather and caused the vehicle to fish-tail. The vehicle was taken to the dealer five times for this problem. The mechanic informed the consumer that there was no remedy for this problem. The vehicle had the tendency to spin wheels/fishtail and would slide uncontrollably. The dealer informed the consumer that there was a problem with the all wheel drive and that when the fix is found, there may still be a posiibility that the problem will return. The service dealer was unable to duplicate the problem with the all wheel drive light. The boot was found blown while being lifted at the service dealers garage, the gauges (fuel and temperature) read "high. " the consumer was told that the problem the awd light was due to the encoder motor, there was a whine noise when the vehicle was in motion, the ground coroded and the transfer case actuator was inoperative do to the awd, when the awd light would come on the vehicle would shut off intermittently and the transfer case control module was replaced and the body control was updated, and the front pads were worn out and the rotors were rusted and pitted.
