1 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2015

Takata recall while driving my lights were dimming while driving on the highway. My car cut off on me twice. The first time it cut off while I was driving and the second time it cut off while I was at a traffic light. Sometime the car won't start. After the third or forth attempt the car will start. My gas pedal is sticking now this just start happening. Sometimes I have a time trying to put the windows down. I have to jiggle with the switch a few times in order for the window on driver side to go down. I had two crank sensors and one cam sensor put on my vehicle. I am still having issues with the vehicle. I had the vehicle thoroughly checked by a mechanic and I was told that it was an electrical issue this is a safety issue.

2 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2004

The contact owns a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle continuously stalls and hesitates. In addition, the instrument panel indicators would illuminate at random. The vehicle failed inspection and the crankshaft sensor was replaced, which helped with the stalling and hesitation; however, the check engine indicator was still illuminated. Days after the crankshaft sensor was replaced, the vehicle failed to start. However, all of the instrument panel indicators flashed on and off. After numerous attempts to start the vehicle, he had it jumpstarted. The vehicle was then able to start. While driving home, all of the lighting flashed and the vehicle suddenly shut off. The vehicle lost all electrical power and power steering ability. The contact managed to park the vehicle in a parking lot and had it towed the following day to a repair shop. The vehicle is currently still in the shop. The vehicle has been recalled in canada and he believes that it should also be recalled in the united states. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 106,000.

3 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2003

Shortly after 36,000 miles, vehicle began stalling intermittently, pcs, abs, ses lights would come one & stay on. Stalling became more and frequent until it began occurring everytime within 120 seconds of cold start (over course of 2,000 -4,000 more miles. Nearly got broadsided by cement truck when vehicle stalled unexpectedly (after already doing its traditional first stall after cold start). Dealer diagnosed and replaced crank sensor. Gm would only pay for part and I was left with diagnosis and labor bill. Dealer would not provide me with defective part. Claimed it belonged to gm. On electrical problem, battery would run down after car left sitting for 3-4 days in cold weather. Would recharge battery and it would be ok. Could not find cause, then finally at about 25,000 miles, battery went bad & would not recharge. Dealer/gm replaced at no cost to me. However, problem continued. Then one evening I noticed that the vanity lights on the sunvisor mirror were illuminated even when sunvisor was completely stowed. Turns out the switch button is not depressing fully to disengage power switch to vanity lamp(s). Dealer would not repair --out of warranty.
