Potential for failure: on Aug 15, 2006, I purchased a set of 4 goodyear weather handler tires from a national chain store. On examining these tires, I saw that 3 were made in 2006 and 1 in 2004. (date codes: mdxo wkhr 2806 - 2; mdxo wkhr 2106 - 1; and mkxo wkhr 4304. ) the rubber on the 2004 tire does not feel as "live" as the rubber on the 2006 tires. I am concerned that this will adversely affect the handling and traction balance of the car. The 2004 tire is already 40% into the aging cycle. I have requested the store to replace the 2004 tire--for the reasons given here. They are not responding to my request. I would like to know what guidelines the NHTSA has ( or recommends ) for a situation like this--where the tires in the replacement set are not of the same age. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

The engine light came on and engine stalled and was hard to restart. It turned out to be the crank sensor needed to be replaced. Rather early for this sensor to go!.
