Turned car off and wipers stayed up in view of driver after turning car back on. Same time low beam headlights stoped working! only high beam work!.

This has happened twice so far. The first time, my windshield wipers stopped in a vertical position instead of the normal horizontal position. I was told by the dealer ship, that the manufacturer stated this happens due to the stopping mechanism getting wet. My warranty wouldn't cover it because it was a weather related repair. I guess I am supposed to drive my car with a big tarp over it, so that nothing gets wet? I paid $300 to get a new wiper motor etc. About 10 months later, the same thing happens. I am not paying another $300 to fix it, if it is going to keep happening. I think that the manufacturers should look into this as being a recall. If something is getting wet inside the wiper motor, and $300 isn't going to fix it. . . . . . . .

The windshield wipers do not operate properly, making it difficult to see the road during inclement weather. Abs light/check light remained on, which the owner's manual informed the consumer that anti-lock brakes may not function.

Wiper blades mechanism failed; first driver's side than passenger side during this winter; initially erratic behavior under load (wind load at high speeds) than mechanical failure under snow load.

Headlights dim, flashers fail intermittently, windshield wipers point straight up when turned off. This is a car with an excellent engine and transmission. Unfortunately alot of the electrical components have started to fail. Will purchase service manuals (3 books) from ebay on work on the issues this summer.

The windshield wipers started out working intermittently at first, now the wipers do not work at all. The consumer was informed by a mechanic that the wiper arm needed replacement. The manufacturer and the dealer are aware of the problem.

While driving in rainy conditions, vehicle's windshield wipers froze making visibility impossible, in result vehicle was involved in a collision. Please provide additional information. Ts.

All three problems (abs failure/ windshield wipers/ oil leak) described by dealer as "very common" for 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigues. Mr.

Windshiled wipers are not working. Contacted dealer, and dealer will take a look at vehicle.

Windshield wipers stopped while driving due to ice and snow. The "transmission assembly" unhooked due to this. An extreme safety hazard existed because of inability to clear windshield while driving. This happened again 2-27-01. There must be a design flaw but gm will not do anything to prevent it they will just repair it when it happens. A second dealer said they are getting 5-6 a week with this problem ( this was dave cross motors 816-524-2233 . I cannot drive this car in snow or freezing rain without fear of the wipers stopping and causing a potentially fatal accident but gm doesnt feel it is a problem "just clear the snow and ice away and it wont happen". I want them to design something to prevent this from happening not merely fix it when it happens. I also wanted this to be on file for others who may have these cars to prevent them from having an accident . Thank you for investigating this design flaw.

To minimize windshield wiper breakage manufacturer has converted the car into a deathtrap. Snow and ice must be removed for proper operation of the wipers. If wiper operation is tested to determine if the wipers are free, and this indeed not the case, a serious problem arises. The nut holding the wiper assembly loosens very readily under very little strain. After some interval the driver operating under inclement conditions finds he has very limited or no visibility when the wipers cease to function or function erratically. In my case, among other things, the right wiper came over the left wiper, pinning both in place directly in front of the driver. Upon contacting the dealer I found this was a very common, frequent occurence very familiar to their maintainance department. The wipers can not normally be repaired or rendered operable on the spot, (who carries the correct size metric wrench or is aware of the necessary adjustment ?). The owners manual does not warn of this deadly hazard, or provide information on repair or adjustment. I do not believe an automobile so equipped is safe to drive in winter wheather. No accident or damage occurred in my case. The potential for damage and death, however, seem enormous.

Various problems with 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. The pcs light came on, the front passenger seat belt came out of the floor while the vehicle was in motion. During a blizzard the windshield wipers ceased. The crank sensor was faulty which rendered the vehicle inoperative.

Windshield wipers failed to park correctly. They park up in the field of view.

I have had two drivers side windshield wiper failures with this vehicle. The dealer had "tighented" a bolt after the first failure. It didnt take long for the wiper to quit working again. The first failure was during a very heavy rain - the second was while using the wiper washer control - why cant they fix this problem.

While driving windshield wipers are making loud noises . Consumer has contacted the dealer in this matter.

Windshield wipers work intermittenly. Contacted dealer, and dealer stated that is was consumer's fault that windshield wipers would not work. Consumer has had windshield wipers replaced already twice.

While driving vehicle in rain the windshield wiper broke. Took in to dealer, they tightened a bolt that was holding the wiper.

There has been about 10 attempts to have steering problem corrected pump & rack has been replaced and still have a problem rear brakes warped dealer refused to fix would do only front defective pitted rotors under warr. Problems reported when first purch. Car steering is a danger wanted to return car too many repairs and not fixed.

Windshield wipers become inoperable in rainy weather conditions due defective bolts. Please give any further details.
