13 problems related to door have been reported for the 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Our daughter got her hand caught in the automatic sliding door, inside handle, when she went to open that door to get out of the vehicle. The door does not have any way of sensing that something may be caught in the handle while it is opening so it kept going while her hand was stuck there. Her wrist was broken as a result of this.
The actuator was replaced, due to a recall on that part, but the service manager at the dealership told me the actuator motor now needed replacing, which was not part of the recall, and would cost me $1,100 for the part alone.
Power sliding door will not shut. Recall 01v264000 repairs done on vehicle for power sliding door. Problem was not remedied. Sometimes had to close manually and lock it. Door has come open while driving. Contact dealer and has done all they can do.
01 v 067 00 & 01 v 264 000/power sliding door: vehicle received two recalls concerning same component. First recall was done in Aug of 2001. Dealer; courtesy Oldsmobile; irwin, PA; phone# 724/863-0600 was unable to honor recall because no parts would be available until December 1, 2001. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter.
The power sliding door did not close properly and opened while the vehicle was in operation. There were passengers in the vehicle, but none were sitting in the seat nearest the door that opened. This vehicle has been returned to the dealer for 2 recalls regarding this door and 3 other times due ot failure of this door (including this current incident).
Consumer received NHTSA recall o1v060000/ manufacturer's recall 01013, and has been contacting jack sykes dealership since April. Parts were still not available. Consumer was advised to contact Oldsmobile directly to see if they could help speed up the delivery.
Automatic sliding door closed on its own. Also, automatic reverse mechanism did not work. Owner was pinned in door and injured when putting child in safety seat. The van is being looked over by dealership.
The door will close to the latch position, does not latch, reopens to complete open position. Frequently, after several attempts, it will latch if pressure is applied to the door as it closes to the latch position. The first complaint to the dealer's service department was fruitless because the condition "could not be duplicated" while at the shop, although it had failed in the presence of the service writer and on the first attempt to close it. On the third visit, the service department manager located a technical service bulletin. The service writer said a replacement part needed to bo ordered and I would be contacted for repairs. They replaced/repaired the defective part. However, the door is now malfunctioning again. A week ago, 1 Sep, it failed, and yesterday, 7 Sep, it again failed three consecutive times. Pertinent info: bulletin sequence 310; date: 9812; nhsta item sb603083.
Power doors would unlock by themselves while driving; 2. ) inside courtesy lights would come on momentarily and intermittently while driving, and 3. ) driver's side and rear power windows would not operate properly. Dealer was notified, and repairs was made.
Consumer states that when getting out of the vehicle the door locks automatically, lock activator was replaced but it still does the same thing. Dealer ignores the problem.
The vehicle's sliding door does not open by remote control or by the buttons on the door, it has to be opened manually, consumer wants to be sure this problem is not related to recall 01v067.
When driver's side sliding door is ajar, indicator light does not illuminate. Dealer has inspected vehicle, and has not been able to repair the problem.
Automatic sliding door released and closed an a child's arm , causing minor injuries. Dealer has been notified.
