I purchased four tires for my van. The front two I replaced late last year. The third one I replaced about a month ago. The reason for the replacement was because the tire came apart. Today I was driving down the road and the other tire started to bump. I checked it and it has came apart also. The tire size is 225/60r16. They are mastercraft, sensys 01.

2002 Silhouette, 39000 miles. Front wheel bearings failed. Had repaired, within 50 miles after picking up from dealership, there was a grinding when turning right. Both heated seats didn't heat. Driver's side window operated extremely slow. Intake manifold gasket needed replacement!, $1000!, 39000 miles folks! air suspension did not operate crackled. Power doors did not open when something got in the way. Bruised shoulder because of this. Premature tire wear, replaced tires at 30,000 miles. All scheduled maintenance done. Stored in a garage more highway miles than city. How did gm want to help me? dealer did paperwork when purchasing, tried to push off a cheaper model on an elderly women, and changed the promised 5 year warranty to a 3 year warranty. Mother was just so happy she got the right vehicle to take home, she never noticed the change in the warranty. Tried to work with the dealer on repairs since there were only 39000 miles, and we got a 'gee, really sorry MA'am, I understood, but there wasn't anything we could do about it. Went to the gm service line, and did not get any help there either, but she had a real purdy first name! seemed to me these were all recurring premature known failures , yet gm did not care to stand behind their product! it was a shame they pushed the 5 year warranty so extensively when they had all these vehicles on their lots. People, we've been had. I grew up in Oldsmobile, but the more I read about gm - the more likely I am to buy Toyota! the good news is that I found a dealer (not close to home though) that was willing to at least repair the first set of wheel bearings for $100. Got that on my own, not through gm service help. I just hope they will be as nice for the next set of wheel bearings that need replacement and for the gasket that was just discovered. Still waiting to hear from gm on the other issues. (not as an immediate need as the wheel bearings) I'm not holding my breath.

Goodyear tires on 2004 Oldsmobile van defective (safety concern to other owners). Tires developed blisters then rubber split open causing tires to go flat. I had to buy tires immediately. Old tires are not here. I took them to dealer where I purchased the van new. No help from them or tire manufacture or van builder.

Took car to be serviced. Techs saw the tire separation and stated it was very dangerous and not to drive on them. Reported to dealership&gmac. Goodyear and firestone dealers say it was tread seperation due to faulty manufacturing. Tires are goodyear p225/60r16 . . . . . Both front tires are separating on the inside. Dealership blamed it on nonrotation (I do that myself so no records. ) when that didnt work they tried to blame it on bad allignment. This also was not the case. The car stayed Saturday night and Sunday at the dealership after they so thoughtfully lent us a safe vehicle after threatening to have us arrested for refusing to drive the unsafe vehicle that was still under warranty. I arrived appx 7 am at the dealership and they looked at the tires and stated it was our fault and they only cover tires for 7500 miles. They also did some other warranty and recall work. I did not let them touch the tires or allignment because of they have a habit of acting in ill will and I do not trust them any longer. Mileage out-24706 I drove to the nearest firestone dealer (milelage in 24708 time 8:49 am) and explained to them the situation. They pulled the tires off and said it looked like faulty tires. I bought new ones because the old ones were too dangerous to drive on and the dealership wasn't going to do the right thing any time soon. Firestone checked the allignment. Data was as follows: lf camber -0. 6, rf camber -1. 0, cross camber . 4, lf caster 2. 9, rf caster 2. 9, cross caster -0. 1, (all within spec) lf toe . 18, rf toe . 11, total toe . 29 (minorly out of spec. . . But positive toe would have caused wear on the outside of the tires and was very obvious to anyone within 10 feet that there was something wrong with them. Tires failed on the inside under the car and its possible they could have killed us all before we ever noticed them) we still have the front tires if you need them. (typed by wife).
There was uneven tire wear. The tread surface lifted off of the cap. There were chunks of tread that had broken off.
On 11-25-03 I took my vehicle to my local tire shop to get a leak repaired. They inspected the tire and marked several places on the tire and told me that the tread was separating. They told me it would be unsafe to drive so I purchased a new tire at a pro-rated price. Please investigate this type tire as I see there are additional occurrences similar in nature.
The tread/steelbelt on the goodyear eagle LS tires installed as oem on my 2001 Chrysler minivan (purchased new sept. 2002) have separated after 13 mo. /28,000 miles. The separation is worse on the front than on the back with one tire having a 12 1/2 in. Separation and numerous small splits/separations and the other having a 6 inch separation and numerous small splits/separations. The dealership responded that this was normal wear/tear which is difficult for me to believe. There are 7 other complaints regarding this tire with NHTSA, five of which are for steal belt separation. This should be investigated immediately.
Before traveling, the driver checked the tires and noticed that a nail was in one of the tires. The dealer checked all of the tires and found that the steel belt was separating from all four tires. 11/3/2003 - operator 161 - corrected the dot number at consumer's request.
Left front driver's side tire tread separated from tire while driving about 60 mph on the highway. The tire never deflated while separating . The tracks from the material of tire caused damage to the undercarriage of vehicle. Futura, size p205/70r15, dot# hym0s8m420.

Front right tire tread separated while driving vehicle at 55mph. Consumers took vehicle into a repair shop to replace the damaged tires, and the technician stated that had 2 more tires with same problem, separated tread. Dealer notified.
Please contact me at my work # 708-233-7305 and I will have the VIN# and dot # available. The tread on my firestone tire separated and cause damage to the left front of my van. Thankfully I was able to control the vehicle without striking another vehicle or a median (I was on a major expressway at the time) I have tried to file a claim through firestone and they are making an excuse that a nail hole will cause a tire to loose the tread as mine did. I have never heard of such a thing. Please advise. Thank you!!.

Tire tread completely came off leaving only sidewalls on the rim. This happened instantly with no warning while driving at high speed. Gm dealer says tire only warrented under the 36 month bumper to bumper warranty. General tire does not warrant tires that are ome. (tiresize: 215/70r15)( dot number: tire size: 215/70r15 ).

Complete sudden tread separation of tire at 73 mph, temp ~94 f, tread wrapped around right rear axle. Took tire parts to olds dealer and tire dealer - they called it a "blowout" but in light of recent firestone problems I think this may be very similar. No road debris was evident as a cause for tire tread separation. Perhaps others have had similar experiences with this make/brand of tire?( dot number: e4 029015 tire size: p215/70r15 ).
When traveling up a hill under wet conditions wheels slip. Consumer states it's the wrong tread design on the tire.
After 2/3 of the tire (general xp2000 size p215 70 r15) tread wore off the tires, the tire was not strong enough to travel a normal gravel road without the stones puncturing the tire tread. Nlm.
