My air conditioning quit working at 36,001 miles. That's one mile over the warranty. I doubt it would have been covered anyways. The compressor does not kick on so I think its probably the compressor. I live in tucson its 110 on average during the day so the car reaches a lovely 160, great for loosing weight. Since the air conditioning went out the car no longer stalls at intersections. This car doesn't have has many problems as I thought it would. I bought it so I could build credit and they financed me at 20% interest. I feel as though I"ve been seriously violated. The whole experience has really humbled me. I refinanced and used the remainder of the money I've been saving to cover any repairs that will cost 5x more than the car is worth. Also this site didn't provide the air conditioning option so I could list this problem in the proper place.

I have owned my car for only 2 years and 7 months. I bought a new car so I would not have to go through all these problems. My warranty has expired but I feel that Chrysler isn't dealing with known issues that are a direct result of there own design flaws. I was given the goodwill warranty for my head gasket but was required to copay 250 dollars. My request to have my a/c fixed was denied even though there are documented warranties for other models with similar problems. My car is less than three years old and I shouldn't be having these types of problem and it wouldn't be bad if Chrysler would just take some ownership for there known but "secret" defects. I just want my car to work like a normal 2 and a half year old car and for Chrysler to stop pushing the problems off on the fact that our warranty has run out. The just don't seem to care.

Exhaust has a small amount of black smoke coming from it and the air-conditioner compresser whistles. I checked for an oil leak and found it to be the head gasket. Why such a huge problem is not causing a forced recall is beyond me!.
Consumer has numerous problems, air condition burned out , and locks will not unlock. Consumer was locked in for an hour, black smoke came from air conditioning while she was inside of vehicle. Also, gasket had to replaced numerous times. Dealership was aware of problem.
Ongoing problem with fuel leakages from fuel tank. Dealer notified. There was a gasoline smell and leak at the vehicles right rear area. The fuel pump seal was determined to be the cause and was replaced. The a/c was not cold enough due to expansion valve failure and it was replaced.

Consumer has had nothing but problems with vehicle since purchase. Engine valve/ engine head gasket/air contioner: compressor & camshaft were replaced 2-3 times from 1998. Consumer has been misled each time . Appointments have been made for repairs.
This car is the worst. I have lost more wages from missing work due to the failure of this vehicle. I am going to be contacting my attorney for lemon laws in our state. No one at the dealership even wants to deal with me or my problems with my car. Is it too much to ask for reasons why certain "fixed" things seem to always be breaking down? I am going to get rid of it ASAP. * no safety defect mentione din summary.
Head gasket is leaking oil, causing a potential safety hazard. Dealer replaced head gasket 3 times/valve cover gasket twice, and transmission seals once, but defects have reoccurred. Also, air conditioning system will not blow cold air and had to be replaced twice.
On 6/18/98 the head gasket was replaced and subsequently failed again on 6/15/00. On 6/17/00 my a/c compressor failed to operate; private mechanic found a break in wiring harness.
While driving at any speed vehicle was cutting off and stalling, and sometimes consumer couldn't go over 30 mph. When consumer tried to get over 30 mph, vehicle would stall and cut off without prior warning. Also, air conditioner had problems, and engine check light kept coming on. Dealer had to change the engine check light, consumer took vehicle in for repair service about 10 times, and the consumner just got the vehicle out of the shop on Feb 17th. Dealer can't determine the problem.
Air conditioner expansion valve malfunctioned.
Consumer has had problem with the air condition unit.
