3 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2004

I bought this vehicle in 8-03, secondhand from a dealership in NY. In the last 2 weeks, I have had trouble with the transmission losing power and starting to lose fluid. In route to a dr's appt. With my pregnant daughter and her 5 yr. Old the trans. Started to slip and lunge forward. I stopped the vehicle and checked the trans. Was empty of fluid after 20 miles from home. Added 4 qts. Of fluid only to go another 10 miles and the trans. Was doing it again. To the garage only to find out the trans. Casing was blown out and no fluid. Mechanic told me this was a very common problem with this trans. To no avail, no trans. To be found in NY state. To get another trans it is going to cost me $1500-$2000. I will not buy another Chrysler Voyager. I will do better homework next time.

4 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2004

My van started emitting a whisling sound after the warranty of 30,000 miles ran out at 40,000 miles and eventually the transmission doesn't want to shift. I took it to the dealer and the owner said that he will eat the cost but I found out that they had sold my wife an extended warranty. Now at 103,000, its doing the same thing of not shifting. The dealer said that we need to pay for the replacement.

5 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2004

While driving the transmission blew out. The consumer managed to pull over and had the vehicle towed. The dealerships mechanic was notified but did not resolve the problem.

6 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2003

I have a 2000 Plymouth Voyager. I purchased it brand new in 12/00. I expereince a problem when shifting from park to reverse to drive. From a parked position, I put the vehicle in reverse and proceed to back up. Once I have completed backing out, I put the vehicle in drive to (attempt) go forward. The vehicle is in drive, however the vehicle continues to go in reverse (several feet). I have tried shifting to overdrive, neutral, and park however the vehicle still continues to move in reverse. I have had the vehicle to the dealership 5 times and the problem still hasn't been resolved. This is a severe hazard as I have almost had several accidents, assuming the my vehicle should be moving forward when in drive. The service manager does not want to admit there is a problem, he blames it on me not putting my brake all the way down. I advised him that despite the position on my brake if the vehicle is in drive it should move forward or if it is in park it should not move at all. The vehicle eventually moves forward, but not until it is ready. My transmission fluid is clean and full. My mileage now is approx 25471. The vehicle is used for personal use only.

While driving vehicle felt like it was in netral gear, then it cut off. Transmission went. Replaced transmission, but problem reoccurred. This was a common problem.
