Oct. 2000 during rainstorm the serpentine belt came off all pulleys, resulting in loss of power steering and overheating. Took to dealer, they replaced tensioner and belt. Jan. 10, 2001 driving in rain again, same thing happened: loss of power steering and overheating. Towed to dealer, again replaced tensioner and belt, other vans in for same problem. What if driving on freeway and/or curving road in rain ? could result in loss of vehicle control and lives ! am now unable to drive vehicle in rain due to obvious design flaw.
Belt for the power assisted steering has disconnected from the belt tensioner three times during normal operation. When this problem occurs, steering control of the vehicle becomes very limited. Dealership has diagnosed the problem and made all repairs to the vehicle. Please provide any additional information / documentation.

Power steering went out when driving through mudd puddles at 40 mph or in car wash. Taken to dealer, belt had come off. Repaired it, but had no answer why it happened. This has happened lots of times. Also, windshield wipers came on while driving, switch has been replaced 5 times. The main belt failed. The water pump failed. The transmission was leaking. The a/c compressor went out burning on freeway.
Condensation of the air conditioner system is dripping onto steering belt, causing the belt to slip, resulting in loss of power steering.
In rain or going through puddle of water at low or high speeds water will cause power assist belt to slip, causing loss of steering.
Consumer called complaining about having problems with the serpentine belt keeps on braking. Dealer was contacted and stated that they don't know why it keeps on braking. Ts.
