Exterior Lighting Problems of Porsche Cayenne

During rain events, headlight housings are becoming inundated with moisture (l and r sides). A quick search on multiple forums shows this is a known issue with all Porsche models. During night driving this issue reduces visibility significantly. Yes, this puts my occupants and other drivers at risk. Porsche is famous for not acknowledging and addressing out of warranty manufacturing defects, even safety issues. They would not address this issue. Brief warning lights and flashing of the headlight system was evident. This has been happening for a few years and is getting progressively worse.

Seals around both headlights appear to be improperly/weakly sealed. Water intrusion is coming in from light rain or even a car wash causing entire headlight system to shut off until the moisture dries up often while driving. This vehicle has matrix adaptive led headlights and there is no self service bulb to replace since they’re leds. Local Porsche dealer service advisors appear to know this is a common issue but state Porsche has yet to do a recall and they have no fix option and only offer to sell me a full headlight assembly replacement.

Last week I took my car to car wash, after that my right passenger side light went off. Water went in the rear sound control module and I lost sound too. My gps sound comes from woofer only. I heard from a by other Porsche owners that Porsche had recall on rear lights, but I was never informed.

Both have failed to take responsibility for what I believe is a widespread defect, as I have found numerous similar reports from other owners. No warning lights or messages were displayed prior to the headlight failure, which made the issue even more dangerous. Without any prior indication, I was left driving without functioning headlights at night, in poor weather conditions. Given the potential for catastrophic consequences, I strongly urge NHTSA to investigate this issue. A recall or other corrective action is necessary to prevent further risks to drivers. June 7-8, 2024 driving in rain, the #17- 25 amp headlight fuse blew, leaving my family and me stranded without headlights in the dark on I-70 highway. When headlights quit during this drive and it became very very dangerous! after getting the 2015 Cayenne home, I inspected both headlights. Driver's side headlight had a lot of moisture on the inside of lens. The passenger side headlight had about 1 cup of water inside headlight. Reading about Porsche Cayenne headlights leaking online, this issue should be a recall. I am going to take to dealership have them work on unrelated recall. I will ask them to inspect Cayenne. I can not drive this vehicle during inclimate weather or at night for an emergency or otherwise. I have been really busy at work and personally to take 60 miles to dealership. I have another vehicle I have been driving.

My 2024 Cayenne is outfitted with the led hd matrix headlights. The low beam lights "when adjusted to specifications" only project 30-40ft down the road. This is very dangerous not being able to see adequately in front of the car especially where I live which have many deer. I'm told this is partially because the us does not allow full hd matrix functionality. Porsche should not sell vehicle which do not function properly in the USA>.

Headlight not working properly.

The two headlights have appeared to have condensation due to sealing problem of the headlight. When the light bulbs and beam heat up the air with moisture, it will leave water inside of the headlight cover. This will increase the safety risks when we were driving on the road. There is no warning message for that. The problem should not be normal and this should really be manufacturer’s problem to fix.

The backup lights of the 2024 Porsche Cayenne coupe when the car is put into reverse are extremely dim, and do not adequately highlight what is behind the car. I learned this the first time on September 8th when I tried to back out of my friend’s narrow windy tree lined driveway at night. Something that usually took a few minutes took more than 15 minutes because I could not see where I was going. I took my Cayenne to amityville Porsche service and was told the car is “working as designed. ” I also escalated it to Porsche's national customer service organization sending them pictures of my new Cayenne in reverse backing up and a Porsche macan loaner in same place. While the person acknowledged there was a major difference, they said the Cayenne was working as designed. I am concerned I will not see someone behind the car or hit a tree or obstruction. I currently cannot go to my friend's with fear of hitting a tree. I have tried to upload pictures showing a marked difference, but it is not working on your site. The upload box just disappears. Headlight went out. Lane change assist not working.

Our 2018 Porsche Cayenne has a problem with the headlights and water intrusion that is affecting the functioning of the headlights. I took it to someone to look at and they said this should not be happening, that it is a manufacturer defect. I googled my car / year and there is a recall for headlight issues but for some reason my VIN is not included. It should be. How do I go about having Porsche north America fix this issue for me?.

After going through the car wash, I lost my rear brake lights and rear running lights. Still have the third brake light. From reading on many Porsche form sites, this is a common issue. The vehicle does not have adequate drains, in return, water leaks into multiple areas of the vehicle causing electrical shortages. You do not get any warning bells, or signs on the dash that you do not have rear taillights. It is a very dangerous issue.

The headlights aren’t sealed correctly so water has leaked in and caused them to malfunction. Porsche is making me get them repaired at a cost of $4100.

The driver receives a warning light in the instrument panel left tail light is defective, and then right tail light defective. Some times tail light works and does not when car is in cold weather was told that both tail lights were defective and would have to be replaced at a cost of $3400. 00 . Found an after sale Porsche publication saying that it affected 2015-2018 Porsche Cayenne. Dealer told me that it is no longer covered since my warranty is not in effect anymore. However this is a safety issue not a warranty issue. Have paperwork stating that Porsche knows the tail lights are defective. Since I live in florida they have been working fine. But as soon as the car is in colder climates this starts to happen.

My car stop suddenly, ignition key failure, then like transmission hesutation until the car stop completely where at that moment call a toll that cost me $650 dls. Since that day car having electric problems and even transmission get stuck sometimes, have to to do it manually.

Taillights getting condensation.

I looked it up and this is what happened previously reported by another owner. I had the exact same experirnce. Nhtsa id number: 11306756.

When I start the vehicle I get an error message that the rear lights are not working properly, but they are functioning well. This message is random and it can show up at anytime. I have contacted Porsche about this and they said that this is due to a faulty part that can be replaced, but requires 5000 usd. This problem was there when the vehicle was under warranty, but they never pursued or investigated it.

There's a electrical issue with the vehicle. Periodically, these error messages run in a continues loop( acc not available, high beam assist not available, driving light control error, pas restricted and camera system restricted). The local dealers have not been able to fix the issue. I opened a Porsche complaint file, which is number 5574318. This issue has been happening since the car was delivered, which was sixteen months ago. Porsche has made little effort in fixing the issue. It very concerning since when the error messages are rolling though it affects several safety features on the vehicle.

During normal commute to work driving, a message "check dim beam" appeared on the dashboard message board. Upon attempting to change a faulty dim beam headlamp bulb, I found headlamp harness wiring and all internal headlamp assembly wiring is cracked and crumbling and conductors are exposed and causing shorts and apparent lamp failure. Other headlamp lighting (side directional lamp) lighting flashed on and off when harness was touched, and other components of electrical system flashed and turned off and on by themselves, particularly the radio. When the suspect dim beam lamp was swapped with opposite (passenger side, the replacement lamp did not work but the suspect lamp from driver side worked on the passenger side leading me to believe the lamp assembly was suspect. Upon opening the access points on the drivers side assembly, the wiring was seen to be crumbling and unsafe. I am worried that a fire may start and have discontinued use of the vehicle at this time.

There are so many problems with this car. . Coolant pipes leak. Oils leakage. Failure of lights elictrical issues such as horn, remote entry, suspension axle wheel barrings. Fuel injectors. While driving the vehicle the car.

Have experienced ongoing electrical system mirror problems, with my 2008 Porsche Cayenne, where the outside mirrors moved on their own while driving and parking. First experienced this electrical system mirror problem on (3/23/09) at 12,391 miles, as this car was taken to same dealership where I had purchased it (inskip penske Porsche in warwick, ri (12) separate times for unsuccessful attempts at repair. The repair invoices are available for the following visits: 3-23-09 = 12,391 / 3-31-09 = 12,592 / 4-2-09 = 12,992 / 9-13-10 = 25,668 / 9-28-2010 = 26,186 / 12-16-10 = 28,179 / 8-24-11 = 38,186 / 9-13-11 = 38,664 / 9-30-11 = 39,249 / 12-19-12 = 47,715 / 1-24-13 = 47,973 / 3-7-13 = 48,199. Purchased the car brand new on (2/4/08) with only 24 miles on the odometer. Computer control unit was replaced at least 10 separate times, as this car may have had software virus & or an electrical shortage. The dealership seems not to not know how to properly program this car, as they claimed that the car was ready to be picked up on (3/7/13) after being in their shop for 37 days since the 11th visit beginning on (1/24/13). Less than 12 miles later, I had to return the car back to the dealer for the 12th time on (3/7/13), because the spare key which they had programmed we suspect may have had old software which corrupted the computer system. This problem again caused the mirrors to move in all kind of different directions, thus causing a major safety issue when driving or operating the vehicle. They finally ordered another computer replacement & 2 new keys which they programmed successfully without further problems. Prior to this 12th repair, I came close to being involved in at least 4 near mis accidents, as cars were not visible in my blind spot, especially when the mirrors move on their own.
