1 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 08/09/2020

Engine has cutoff on 3 occurrences: (1) operating the vehicle on the freeway at 70 mph and experienced immediate loss of power. I was able to manuever the vehicle to the shoulder while coasting without engine power. I was able to start the engine but it cutoff a few seconds after. The vehicle had to be towed to an independent Porsche repair shop where the high pressure fuel pump was replaced. (2) the engine cutoff while operating on city street at 40 mph. I was able to manuever the vehicle while coasting without power or power steering into a parking lot. The engine would start but cutoff a few seconds later on multiple attempts. The vehicle has to be towed to the same independent Porsche repair shop where the high pressure fuel sensor was replaced. This occurrence was the first time operating the vehicle after returning home from the high pressure fuel pump replacement service. (3) operating the vehicle while stopped at an intersection at a red light. When attempting to accelerate the engine cutoff and I was stalled for about 1 minute blocking traffic. I was able to restart the engine after a few attempts and drive the vehicle the remaining 2 miles home without incident. All 3 occurences involved abrupt engine cutoff and loss of power steering. The Porsche independent repair shop is unable to pinpoint the issue. The risk exposure to accident is high when engine cutoff occurs while the vehicle is in motion.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2017 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 12/03/2019

Overnight fuel pressure loss results in extended crank cycle. Despite 6 service visits between two chicagoland area Porsche dealerships, the vehicle has not been satisfactorily repaired. Fuel pressure loss was confirmed on multiple occasions by the semersky's Porsche exchange in highland park, illinois. Fuel pumps were apparently replaced, the last time damaging the seat clips under the second row bench seat. Fuel pressure loss has slowed, but still occurs when fuel tank is more than 3/4 empty. This vehicle is covered by manufacturer warranty and the problem became apparent at 24k miles.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 06/14/2018

I purchased a 2008 Porsche Cayenne on 3/14/18. Here we are 3 months later and I noticed a strong gas smell coming from the driver rear tire. I used google to diagnose my concerns and found this: September 25, 2017 Porsche is recalling more than 50,000 Cayenne suvs because the fuel pump filter flanges could leak gas and at the least create an odor of fuel, and at the most create a fire hazard if fuel hits a hot ignition source. The recalled gas-powered vehicles include the 2003-2006 Cayenne s and Cayenne turbo, 2004-2006 Cayenne and 2006 Cayenne s "titanium" edition vehicles. So, I took my car to get diagnosed at dean mcreary Porsche in mobile, al and was advised that I have a flange and sealing ring leak and that it would be 1124. 00 to repair. I am having the same problems described in this recall. This is a hazard. Someone could die. I then called Porsche north american and they informed me that the recall is VIN specific and I do not qualify. This makes no sense and they should be held responsible for repairs. Porsche is constantly making cars that are unsafe and when a problems occurs, they do not want to fix it.

9 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2004 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 11/29/2017

"Porsche safety recall ah10" I received a recall notification in the mail November '17 for the replacement of the filter flange fuel pump. During the time, I did not experience any changes with my vehicle, but I still called to have my vehicle repaired. I was told that the parts are not in and I would be notified when the parts were available. Within the last 3 weeks, I have smelled gas in and around my car. I am convinced this is due to my vehicle not being repaired for an extended period of time. I contacted both Porsche locations in my area (north olmsted and beachwood, ohio) to see if there will be reimbursement of a rental car or if a loaner vehicle can be provided until the parts are in as I transport a newborn baby in my vehicle on a day to day basis and do not want to run the risk of either of us being affected by this fuel leak. I'm afraid if the fuel leakage isn't repaired soon it may cause a fire which will be a hazard to myself, child, and other motor vehicles on the road. I am reaching out to see of there are any alternative transportation methods for those individuals who were affected by this action. Please advise.

12 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2006 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 11/14/2017

I received a recall notice from Porsche (ah10 Porsche safety recall) for replacement of the filter flange of fuel pump. The letter was dated 14nov2017. On 28nov2017 I took the car to the dealer for repair, which was supposed to be at no cost to me. The dealer did not have the newly designed part, so he replaced the defective filter flange (which had been leaking fuel), replaced it with a new part, but still under the recalled design, and charged me for the repair even though the recall stated the repair would be done at no expense to vehicle owners. Then in August 2018, I was notified that the newly designed parts were delivered, at which point I brought the car back to the dealer and the recalled part was removed with a newly designed filter flange installed. This was completed on 08aug2018 and on 09aug2018 I completed the paperwork that Porsche asked me to complete in order to receive reimbursement for the November 2017 repair work. The processing of this paperwork was supposed to take 6-10 weeks. It is now 21 weeks and counting, I have contacted Porsche and their processing agent (gcg), but neither is able to tell me the status of the claim or who is working on it or what the issue is with the processing of my claim. I'm out of pocket $1500 for over a year on a recall that was supposed to be no cost to the vehicle owner due to a dangerous design, which had indeed been leaking fuel and which could have led to a deadly fire.
