While driving on the city street for about 10 minutes when a message "fault-fuel gauge" popped up on my instrument cluster. Tried to fill the tank at the gas station but then the tank was full however the fuel gauge incorrectly indicating the tank is only 1/2 full. Message would intermittently come on while driving. This vehicle was manufactured in June 2014 not recalled nor corrected by Porsche manufacturer in their recall of 2014 model. Car mileage is only 39,563 and this cars VIN was not included on Porsche recalls. This particular fault is exactly the same fault as all the 2014 Cayenne Porsche has previously recalled. Carfax report on this model/VIN states no recall. It would be dangerous to take this vehicle for a long drive due to inaccuracy in fuel gauge reading as vehicle can dangerously run out of fuel and stalling and increasing risk of accident.

Tl - the contact owns a 2005 Porsche Cayenne. The contact stated that a gas smell was noticed inside of the vehicle . The vehicle was taken to the independent mecanhanic ( west hollywood automotive: 5570 melrose Ave, los angeles, CA 90038),where the technician informed the contact that the failure was the left side fuel tank flange needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired at an out of pocket cost. A month and three weeks later the contact received a recall notification in the mail for recall: 17v576000 (fuel system, gasoline). The recall was for the failure that the contact had repaired prior to receiving the recall notice. The manufacturer was notified of this failure and made aware that the failure had been repaired already due to not knowing that it was a recall . The manufacturer stated that they usually use a third party for reimbursement but did not have anything set up like that for this recall and a reimbursement was not possible. The VIN search revealed one recall:17v-576000 (fuel system, gasoline ), which is the same failure the contact paid out of pocket to get repaired. The failure mileage was 59,626. Nb.
