1 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2008 SAAB 9-3

Failure Date: 05/22/2012

I was taking a one day business trip that was about 250 miles away. The day I left the tpms said that my front passenger tire was low, so I checked and it came in about 10 psi lower than all the other tires. I got down there and settled in for the night. The next morning it was under 10 psi. I filled it up again and left for home. About half way through the trip I stopped for some lunch. I got back to the car, and the tpms lit up again. This time it was half what all the other tires were. Upon my return home, I took the car to my mechanic and he said that there was a hole on the inside sidewall. The tires only have about 33,500 miles on them.

3 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2006 SAAB 9-3

Failure Date: 08/23/2007

The contact owns a 2006 SAAB 9-3. The vehicle has four pirelli p6 (size p215/55r16-97) season tires. The contact's wife was driving approximately 70 mph when the sidewall on the passenger side front tire suddenly burst. She was able to come to a complete stop and placed the spare tire on the vehicle. The tire has not been inspected, but the contact has discovered that several others have experienced the same failure with this brand of tire. The current and failure mileages were 16,400.

4 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2001 SAAB 9-3

Failure Date: 11/15/2004

Not a failure, but misleading information to consumers which might lead to problems. I was sold dunlop sp sport fm901 tires for my SAAB 9-3 (I am fairly safety conscious) and was told that they were snow legal by just tires, a goodyear owned dealer. Recently, I checked inflation and looked for the m&s rating on the sidewall--not there. I looked on the dunlop web site. . . It showed that the tires rated a "5" for snow on their 1-10 performance scale (indicating to a reasonably intelligent person that they would be average, I. E. , what one would expect for an all- season tire). Just to be sure, I sent a web-based inquiry to dunlop. Goodyr came back to tell me they were not m&s but that they did score a 5 rating. It seems to me that having any snow rating, not to mention a 5, for a tire which is not m&s rated is dangerous and misleading. I know that the dealer will deny that they told me the tires were rated, so all I can do is to point out the problem to NHTSA and consumer outlets. Hope you can convince goodyear-dunlop to stop the misleading practice. Thanks.

5 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2003 SAAB 9-3

Failure Date: 08/26/2004

Experienced a sidewall blowout of the front passenger tire on my recently-purchased SAAB 9-3 linear. The vehicle had 13. 5k miles when purchased, the tire blew at 14. 2k. Was driving 50 mph on a local highway, did not hit anything, tires had very recently been inspected for wear and inflation, there was no precipitating event prior to hearing a loud "pop"; shortly thereafter felt and heard the effects of the deflated tire. Tire remained on the wheel, but was flat with a significant hole in the sidewall. The tires on the vehicle were pirelli p6 four season tires 215/55r16.
