Air Bag Problems of SAAB 95 - part 2

I received this recall notice in may of 2016. The recall was actually in February of 2016. I am being told now that the parts will not be available until some time in the first quarter of 2017. The recall states the issue may "result in injury or death to vehicle occupants". Because of this I will not have anyone in my family drive this car. I can no longer be without this car and feel it is only right that we are provided a fully paid rental car until ours can be properly repaired. This recall is #15041.

The contact owns a 1999 SAAB 9-5. The contact stated that while parked, the passenger¿s side impact air bag erroneously deployed. The vehicle was not involved in a crash or any type of impact. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer for a diagnostic test however, dealer did not provide an explanation on what caused the air bag to inadvertently deploy. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 103,000.

I was involved with in an accident on Friday December 14th, 2012. I was returning to work on my lunch break and a lady ran a red light, pulling out infront of me, and I ended up t-boning her going roughly 45mph. I was extremely disappointed that no air bags were deployed in such a severe head on collision. The car has been seen by the insurance company and they decided to total the vehicle. In such a violent accident I would expect the air bags to be deployed, especially when the accident was a front on collision that totaled my SAAB. I was taken to the er because I hit my head on the a frame and had major back and neck pain. This problem about the air bags not going off needs to be known, and I am very disappointed that this vehicle did not meet the basic standards for safety in a head on collision.
