My car has electrical problems related tothe connector for the computer inside the dash just as noted under NHTSA recall# 14v252000. I am certain this is the problem because following advice I found online before the recall was issued I used an electronics cleaner on the connector and it helped but did not fix the problem. My brake lights either don't work or stick on. My left turn signal doesn't work. If I disconnect and reconnect the plug several times in seems to make it work but only for a short while so I know for sure this is the problem. I've checked my VIN and for some reason gm has not included my car in the recall. This is b. S. Prior to the recall I paid gm dealerships several times to fix the issue and they failed each time. Now they have a recall for the exact problem my car has but they are trying to not include my car even though the recall is for 2007 Saturn Aura's with the exact problem my car has. I cant use my car because I cant get an inspection sticker due to the brake lights and turn signal not working. Its a freaking lawn ornament.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that the brake lamps failed to illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, the brakes lamps illuminated when the brake pedal was not depressed. The vehicle was serviced under the NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, service brakes, exterior lighting, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). But the remedy failed to repaired the vehicle. The contact mentioned that all failures related to the recall recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Jo.
2007 Saturn Aura. Consumer writes in regards to electrical problems. The consumer had to replace both headlights, one blinker and the dashboard light blinked off and on. Also, she smelled burning fumes at times.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that the check engine and traction warning lights illuminated. The contact received a notification for NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). However, the part needed was unavailable. The contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
The locks continuously lock and unlock themselves; the emergency brakes when activated sometimes still roll.
Seat belt alert on dash keeps telling me that the seat belt for the driver is not buckled even when driver is buckled in. This is a recurring issue that had been handled under a warranty claim by replacing the dash cluster after many trips to the dealer. The first time it was replaced under manufacturer warranty. Now the issue has returned and gm is refusing any sort of replacement or diagnosis on this issue even though it deals with passenger safety. I have owned this vehicle since it was new and have on going issues with the dash cluster and it malfunctioning with gm telling me every time that they will no longer fix it. I would hate to see someone in my family hurt as a result of the seat belt not locking in an accident because the electronics do not see the seat belt as being buckled.
This is my 2nd complaint regarding the brake lights on my vehicle. 1st incident occurred in the evening when I noticed the brake lights were not working properly. They were doing the exact opposite of what they're supposed to do. When accelerating, the brake lights were lit up . . . . When pressing on the brake pedal to notify those behind me that I would be slowing down and/or coming to a complete stop, the brake lights would not illuminate, therefore, potentially causing an accident. . 9/24/13- I contacted grossinger Chevrolet in palatine, IL & scheduled to bring my car in that same morning for evaluation & possible repairs. I just purchased these vehicle mid-August 2013. A diagnostic test was done & repairs were made to the tune of close to $1,000! was told the issue was bcm related & the extended warranty company wasn't going to cover this, which is another issue I am addressing. Not 2 weeks goes by & it's happening again!! I immediately called grossinger, spoke to the same service manager that took care of me the last week of September - he knew I would be calling & said verbatim, "the mechanic that repaired (or I thought) your vehicle told me you would be returning for the same problem". . . Since then, there's been 3 other instances in which other drivers made me aware my brake lights weren't working properly - again, all instances above, the brake lights were doing just the opposite of what they're supposed to do, the most recent being today, 10/13/2013. Please reference my initiaticket # [xxx], "ivoq" from 9/24/2013. Enough already - stand behind your words!! "keeping you safe" - "our engineers and investigators look into problems you report to help ensure you and others stay safe on our nation's roads and highways. " there's nothing safe about malfunctioning brake lights! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that a recall repair was completed by the dealer and the failure recurred months later. The contact indicated that the cruise control feature failed to work and when applying the brake pedal the light did not illuminate. The brake light stayed lit when it was not applied. The manufacturer recall remedy did not repair the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the brake light switch needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000. Dyd.
First it was my gear shift, I had to get it fixed back in may of this year 2013 because when I tried to put the car in park, and did not park at all, matter of fact, when I placed the car in park it started reversing, literally going backwards. I got it fixed but yet there seems to still be issues with the gear shift, just hasn't been the same. Now when I drive my brake lights stays on, but when I press on the brakes my brake lights shuts off. Very dangerous situation, and also inside my car the lights seem to flicker on my dash board and everywhere else lights are in the car so I'm assuming that's a electrical problem. Updated 08/15/lj the rack and pinion was replaced.
Door locks malfunction constantly locking and unlocking. Engine heat can be felt inside the car when driving causing the a/c to be used excessively waisting more gasoline. Windshield wipers wear out quickly and do not wipe water off of driver side glass well. Radio and speakers electrical malfunctioning. Lettering rubbed off on functional buttons on steering wheel and doors. Air bag light malfunction. Hood of car developed weather spots. Insulation at the top of front window worn out.
I had my door open during a snow storm as I was trying to push my car out of the street. The door got a little wet. Ever since then the doors have been locking and unlocking themselves whether the car is on or off. The keyless entry no longer works. The trunk will no longer open. The passenger seat airbag randomly turns on and off even when there is a passenger in the seat. The mechanic said I should replace the body control module, but this did not solve the problem either. They currently have all of the locks unhooked so they won't keep turning on and off while I am driving.
Vehicle power door locks do not operate unless the car is being shifted in or out of park nor does the key fob work. Vehicle was taken to gm dealer and I was told they could not find a verifiable issue with the door locks. I have been locked out of the vehicle several time because there have been moments that the doors lock on their own. The dash lights also dim on their own and the chime no longer sounds when the doors are opened.
A fellow driver waved me down to tell me that my brake lights were "backwards," I. E. , the rear brake lights were on until I hit the brakes, then all rear lights went off. Worrisome, to say the least. An internet search revealed a likely problem with the bcm, with which there seems to be a grounding issue. I took the car in for service, and they were able to fix this issue. Other items have come up over time: no response to the remote control to unlock the doors (other buttons can be intermittent). Cruise control disengaging while driving, or cruise not setting at all; doors not locking/unlocking when the car is shifted from park to drive or vice versa; and the newest: the auto window on the driver's side every once in a while will not work, even though the lever is set to auto (resetting does not work; sometimes it will re-engage if the car is turned off for an hour or so, sometimes not). While most of these are "quality of life" issues with an older car, one should not have to maintain constant surveillance of the cruise control and/or rear brake lights and hope that an accident does not occur. Thank you for your time.
My service air bag lights are on and the passenger air bag is not on when someone sits in the vehicle. Also the traction light came one while I was in park and the entire light panel flickered. There have been over 20 complaints that I have read just about these problems alone. Why hasn't there been a recall? about a month after I bought the car with 30000 miles on it, the service air bag light went on. Dealership didn't do anything until the 3rd time I brought it in. They replaced the seat and it just started happening again. Both airbags are disengaged now. How is that not an automatic recall? how does gm not fix this without charge? something needs to be done.
The brake lights come on without touching the brake. Brake lights go off when I step on the brakes. I have taken the car into the gm dealership 4 times but the fix is only temporary. The brake light failure returns in about 6 months.
I purchased my vehicle in 2011 with 55,476 odometer within this time frame I had to replace fuel pump and the alarm system is not functioning at all. The air bag system comes on and off even in the process of me driving. I haven't been notify due to any of these matters until I found web site.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that the brakes light would illuminate when the brake was not being depressed and would not illuminate when the brake was being pressed. The dealer was unable to determine what caused the failure. The dealer stated that they would try replacing the brake light switch. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 58,000. Updated 09/05/lj the dealer replaced wires and termiinals within the circuit and reclaibrated the brake pedal position sensor. So far, there have been no more problems.
Driving on the interstates and all of a sudden the car went from 65 to 40 almost got rear ended. The dash displayed service traction control. The cars speed dropped so fast I was almost rear ended by a semi. Luckily I glanced up in time not to get rear ended. The car is now running fine. After looking through some sites it appears a lot of people have this issue and not even with high miles some had it with 3600 miles on there car. Also the ones that did seek service they were unable to determine the issue and kept reoccuring.
Esc warning light constantly flashes under braking. Cruise control would shut off or not go on for some reason. I was advised by another driver that brake lights were not functioning. When I checked the brake lights I found that they were constantly on but when I engaged the brakes the lights would go off. I was constantly complaining about being tailgated and now I know why. If you traveling on the highway at 60 mph and when you hit the brakes the brake lights go off instead of on then it's obvious what can happen with the car behind you. I called gm customer service and the tier 2 tech and the supervisor acted like they were not aware of the problem. I told them that the problem seems to be fairly wide spread and that the NHTSA was investigating the problem. They still claimed they weren't aware of the problem. I do not feel I should have to pay for this since this problem seems to be widespread. When is the NHTSA going to complete it's investigation because I really can't afford a large bill from the dealer. I bought the car with 21,00 miles and it now has 62,000. . . The ecs light problem started within a year of ownership. The cruise/ brake problem started probably a year ago.
My 2007 Saturn Aura hybrid constantly has problems with the electrical system. Various components go off and on at seemingly random occasions. For example, I'll get halfway to work and the "check air bag" light will go on; when I get back in my car after work, the same light will be off and won't go back on. In another example, I might be driving to the store and the traction control will stop working, but will start again a few miles later. Sometimes the radio will not go on until I turn off and restart the car. Yesterday, the power steering light went on for a mile. Every system in the car has had its warning lights turn on and off at various times but since they don't stay on, I never know if it will be safe to keep driving my car or not. I just read some message boards and this appears to be a common problem with this car. Since it is a major safety issue (I had trouble steering while my power steering was out), possibly with the computer, there should be a recall and gm should fix these issues.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that the brake lights failed to work properly. The brake lights illuminated when the brake pedal was not engaged and it would not illuminate when the brake pedal was applied. The failure continued to occur intermittently over a period of three years. The contact also stated that the cruise control was no longer functioning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who replaced the body control module twice; however, the failure continued to occur. Nhtsa recall campaign number 14v252000 (electrical system , electronic stability control , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control); however, the VIN was included and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
In September 2010 and again in July 2011, my car began having difficulty with back up lights (non existent) and brake lights. The brake lights would remain on when driving and would go off when the brake pedal was applied. This also seemed to happen if the cruise control was engaged. Other drivers flagged me down to alert me to this dangerous situation. The chimsel light in the rear window remained lit while driving and turned off if brake pedal was applied. I took my car to a local gm dealer twice. . It took 2 weeks each time, to locate the problem, which was eventually identified as a faulty body control module. This was a very expensive repair, that had to be completed twice. 2007 Saturn Auras should be recalled for this issue. I have not used my cruise control since July 2011, as I am afraid to start this whole expensive and dangerous sequence again.
Car smoking from dash caught fire destroyed car.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. While driving 45 mph, the air bag indicator illuminated. The failure occurred multiple times. The dealer stated that there could have been an electrical failure in the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Cruise control would not set. Noticed center brake light was on without stepping on brake. Stepped on the brake and brake lights went out. Was able to set cruise control but shortly after setting the brake lights came on and cruise control released. Determined brake lights were on continuously until brake pedal depressed then brake lights would go out momentarily until brake pedal was depressed further. Determined brake pedal switch was operating correctly and adjusted correctly. Service rep replaced control computer: approximately 5 months later problem recurred. Gm service bulletin claims problem is connector on computer board that develops corrosion. Applying dielectric grease is supposed to solve the problem; it does but just temporarily - must be reapplied every few months.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. When depressing the brake pedal, the radio turned off, the red battery light flashed and the engine made a cranking noise. While the contact was driving, the power steering failed after the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but had not been diagnosed. The current mileage was 16,291. The failure mileage was 16,192. Updated 01/18/11 the consumer sated while waiting for the replacement hybrid battery, the vehicle would occasionally attempt to go into hybrid mode. When applying the brake, the vehicle attempted to go into hybrid mode but couldn't. The battery warning light then illuminated and the radio went out nd the engine made a strange noise as though the vehicle was just being started. Updated 04/15/11.
10/15/2010- brake light stays on when driving, and turns off when brake is applied. Tom bannen Chevrolet replaced the internal fault switch under warranty. 11/04/2010- brake light stays on when driving, and turns off when brake is applied. Tom bannen Chevrolet applied diolectric grease to connector pins under warranty. 9/13/2012- brake light stays on when driving, and turns off when brake is applied. Tom bannen Chevrolet calibrated the brake pedal position at my cost. 11/13/2013 brake light stays on when driving, and turns off when brake is applied. Tom bannen Chevrolet now states that they "think" it is the body control module. This has been a persistent problem with this car, and this issue is well documented with Saturn Aura's. This is a major safety issue with these cars, and will end up in someone getting rear ended.
Identical to the recent airbag related recall initiated at Chrysler, gm has had the same issue on multiple platforms, most notably the Saturn Aura xr. My vehicle is a 2007 edition. I first noticed the issue on my vehicle in 2010. First, the passenger sensing system indicated that no passenger was present. Second, the "service airbag soon" icaw would annunciate, sometimes while in motion and sometimes while stationary, when this happened traveling on the interstate I got quite flustered. I called the service center and took it to the last Saturn service center in fort worth where they told me that I'd most assuredly flooded my passenger compartment (never drove the car into a body of water--confused???). The fix was to replace the acm, the passenger sensing mat, and the seat heater--total cost ~$1k. But my car was still under warranty! this problem continued to happen and another dealership could never isolate the problem. Fast forward to now when I contacted gm about my concerns since nobody else could help me. . . Gm stated that there was nothing they could do because my car was out of warranty. I asked the gm p. O. C. About the TSB I had found related to this issue. I stated my concerns for a TSB related to air bags over a 7 year period. Yes, you read that right. Gm has had a TSB related to my problem, and the same airbag related recall Chrysler just started, for 7 years!!! please assist myself and other consumers from being hurt by this. . .
I am the original owner of a 2007 Saturn Aura xr that was purchased in August 2007. Almost immediately I had to bring the car back to the dealer in sept 2007 to investigate "service air bag" and "esc" warning lights. Additionally, I began noticing that my brake lights were malfunctioning. They would be on while I was driving and then would go off when the pedal was depressed. This made for very unsettling driving. I had to bring the car back to Saturn twice in 2007 to "fix" the problem but I has started again. I brought the car to the chevy dealer that now provides service for Saturn customers on June 22, 2010 to address the brake lights. They kept the car for two days and supposedly "fixed" it. Well the problem still persists. You can remote start the car and the brake lights are on. You can turn the car on normally,, depress the brake pedal and the brake lights illuminate but fail to go off. The center brake light doesn't appear to want to work correctly either. This is very frustrating. Does anyone know the correct solution to this problem? ps-my mileage is 18,000 miles.
This is a problem known by gm for Saturn and impalas for the same type-model-series vehicle as there are at least 2 technical bulletins addressing this problem. The body computer sets the brake lights on independent of brake actuation. This gives drivers behind the Saturn the false indication the Saturn is stopping creating confusion in that the following drivers no longer have confidence in the braking signal displayed. When the brakes are applied the brake lights momentarily extinguish then operate correctly. Analysis and troubleshooting concludes the problem is in the body computer to automobile connector. Gm says applying dielectric grease to all the contacts on the body computer to automobile connector solves the problem; this is only a temporary fix as the problem recurs. If the driver is astute enough to note the problem (cruise control releases and won't set, or if at night sees the center brake light reflection in the rear windshield), applying sideways pressure to the connector may temporarily resolve the problem. . . But it will reoccur. Some shops want to replace the body computer for $300 dollars plus labor: I did this once. This may give the appearance of fixing the problem as the body computer to automobile connector must be removed and reattached during the process however again, this temporarily resolves the problem but the problem will reoccur.
On dash warning lights for failed airbag. Drivers remains on unless passenger then that warning light supersedes drivers light which temporarily goes out . Was a problem at time car purchased used. Dealer (Buick) said it was normal. . I now realize it is a fault common on these cars.
I drive a 2007 Saturn Aura and recently the service air bag light came on. I talked with the service department at Saturn and they stated that it would cost $1200+ to remove the passenger seat and fix the sensor. Also the passenger front door sensor that tells you that the door is closed malfunctioned. When you close the door, it tells you that the door is ajar when it is actually closed. To fix that would cost about $420.
I experienced the parking issue before the recall was issued. Saturn said it was my battery and charged over $100 to replace it even though I had a aaa report saying the battery was fine before they towed my car in. I literally drove the car home from the dealer, put my car in park and it would not start again. Saturn picked up my car for free and fixed the issue under warranty but refused to refund me for the battery. I brought my car in again when the recall was issued and they still would not refund the battery cost.
When raining the driver and passenger door fill with water, drains when door is open this could not be good for electrical purposes.
The brake lights do not function properly and are unpredictable. The manufacture warranty replaced the brake module once, but we have the same problem on-going. My research has informed me that this is a widespread issue and one that needs to be recalled. The cheap connectors in the brake module corrode and cause may issues: 1. The brake likes will often stay on while not pressing the brake. Then they will turn off when the brake is pressed. This happens most often, but is also inconsistent at times. The lights simply are not reliable and do not work as they should. 2. The cruise control will not function due to faulty brake engagement signal. 3. It is difficult to shift the gear selector due to the sane issue. You must press extremely hard on the brake to get it to shift and this leads to abnormal sounds and operation of the brake lever. We have an extended warranty, but we don't feel it acceptable to pay $100 deductible to fix an ongoing problem over and over again. This has led to us not using the vehicle much due to safety concerns. The car has about 50k miles on it after 6 years. The service bulletin says not to replace the module, but rather grease the connectors. Seems like a pretty clear cause (replace cheap connectors with ones that will last and not corrode. . . Not replace module with another inadequate one). Please recall. Thank you.
