Brake Master Cylinder Problems of Saturn Aura

Since new, we have had passenger air bag issues, not sensing an adult passenger. Brakes have been operating poorly, with rear pads wearing out, and front not. Four new master cylinders, pads & rotors with no improvement. Now mid 2018, strong gasoline smell from under rear of vehicle. I have seen where other Saturns, have a fuel leak relating to the fuel pump fuel lines. I suspect the same for our car. Doesn't matter how full the tank is, and of course it is parked. Should be a recall on this defect. We live in texas where it is hot. We now have about 130,000miles on the car.

The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that the brakes locked randomly without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake booster and the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

The master cylinder failure due to rod shifting and locked up front right brake. Burnt up the caliper, brake pads and over heated brake rotor. May have also caused brake fluid to overheat. Dealer charged for brake pads, caliper, machining of rotors, installation, etc. They misdiagnosed the abs hydraulic pump (which I also had to purchase) before ultimately replacing faulty master cylinder.

Only 2 months old, passenger air bag light, would read off when a normal size adult was in the seat. Also "on star" reported air bag inoperative. Always had brake problems with rear pads wearing out way before the front. Steering wheel lock does not lock, and I noted this after 2 years, as my wife is the major driver of the car. I was so sick of the dealer, I replaced the master cylinder, rotors, with brembo, and used quality pads. The government should have gotten after gm! there are many complaints!.
