Electronic Stability Control Problems of Saturn Aura - part 2

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Saturn Aura. While driving 25 mph, the steering wheel seized and the electronic stability control warning indicator displayed prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering column and esc needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched the failure and found a recall online. The contact called berger Chevrolet (2525 28th st se, grand rapids, mi 49512, (616) 949-5200) and was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v153000 (steering). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

While driving the service esc & power steering warning came on. At this point the power steering stopped functioning and steering became very difficult especially at lower speeds. There has been a recall for this issue for this model, but my VIN number is not showing up as one of the vehicles recalled even though it appears to have the problem. Gm obviously has more defective parts installed on additional VIN's. This can be a very dangerous problem depending on when it occurs. The problem resets when you turn off the car and restart it, but it has now happened 4 times while driving since the initial occurrence.

Intermittently esc power steering will pop up in display, power steering will quit working and almost impossible to turn, dealer states no recall for this problem.

While driving down a city street, the traction light indicator lit up and the dashboard flashed �esc off� and �traction off� and the steering wheel locked up. It was very difficult to steer my car into a parking lot and out of the heavy flow of traffic.

Without warning the steering and the esc failed, when you start the car the warnings flash that that are off, on the rare occasion that they turn on they turn off while the car is driving, the car loses all steering assistance. When they controls are active the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably.

While driving on freeway power steering went out. Extremely difficult to control car. I found that after the car was turned off, the steering works again. This happens all of the time and is very scary. I don't want to drive with my children in the vehicle. Also steering wheel goes back and forth when I am in park and not touching it. Steering feels loose.

While driving back from work today I got this message // power steering service esc// message after putting the vehicle in reverse while trying to turn. The steering became uncontrollable afterwards. After turning ignition off and back on the error message went away and things went back to normal.

Driving the car anywhere my car would drive good then sometimes lights start flashing service esc, power steering, low fuel and the gauges starts going wild on the dashboard, and my car would start skipping if I don't pull over off the road right away. This is so dangerous to be on the highway people are driving fast and crazy and when your car slows down on its own it could cause a wreck. I have children and it's scares me because I don't never know when the car would act up. It seems to be a really bad issue with these cars I'm hearing would've been nice to know this before I bought the car. This is a major issue for a car to act this his out of nowhere. I've taken it to the people I bought my car from and it never acts when I take it to them put I've should them videos that I've taken of what it's goin, so they are not trying to look deeply for the problem. And I'm very disappointed this is the only vehicle I have to get me and my children around & the car is in good conditioning besides what's goin on with the electrical part. I don't know what all can be done about this but hopefully somebody can look into the problem with this type of car. Thank you.

Talara recall � I turned my car on and it kept killing forward it said power steering stability esc ,esc off, and then engine power reduced it kept accelerating by it self I thought it was the battery so I boaught a new one but not even when they switched it out would it stop doing that it kept julting.

When I was getting off the interstate I lose control of my power steering and the service esc power steering light came on and I was able to pull over into a gas station I turned the car off turned it back on and the power steering started working just fine again.

I purchased this car on 11/05/2017 and have experienced more problems everyday with the electrical systems in the car. My power locks rarely work on all of my doors. I manually unlock my driver's door and if I try to unlock the other doors with my power lock controls, some or none of the other locks will unlock or lock. This problem happens with the car being stationary, in motion, and on all varieties of driving. My seatbelt light on my dashboard flashes even when my seatbelt is on. The tire monitor and tire pressure light are on at all times, even after having my tires checked by a specialist. This problem has only been noticed while driving for more than 5 minutes. The overall lights on my dashboard will dim, go completely out, and turn back on after driving for a few minutes. The trunk, that doesn't have exterior key access, sometimes doesn't open and has to be accessed from the interior via the backseats. This problem has only been attempted while stationary.

While driving at 25 mph the power steering has gone out quite a few times, restarting the car turns the power steering back on. While driving any road, including 70mph highways, the car will jolt and the service esc alert will go off. It's actually getting worse.

This morning leaving work after coming to a stop, when making a right turn to re-enter traffic halfway through the turn the power steering went completely out nearly causing me to hit an vehicle turning left onto the same street I was exiting. When I bought the car last year the dealership said they installed brand new brakes but they where still squeaking so I just thought it was because of the new brakes but a month later my brakes and rotors and calipers were completely gone it costed me $1200 to replace them but then 2 months later again it started doing the same thing my brakes wore down completely so I asked my uncle to look at them and change them for me so he did and now my brakes are doing the same thing they grind very loud and squeak and I didn't buy no cheap brakes either they where top performance brakes another problem I had what's my control module in my transmission went out as I was driving on the high way my speedometer wasn't working and my car moved slowly and made a loud noise so I replaced it and it's working for now then my doors won't unlock I'll hit the unlock button in the car and the key chain but my back door on the drivers side does not unlock and my driver door does the same occasionally I have to pull the lock to unlock it and I've had my tires balance rotated and all that more than once but for some reason my front tires wear down fast I've went through 2 sets of front tires but my back tires are still good.

My Saturn Aura traction control and esc lights came on. The brake light would be on even when I am not braking. This happens when normal driving is taking place.

Takata recalls. The service esc and traction off indicator light keep coming on. Several months ago, as I was driving home the dash board lights went off and came back on. Even the speed odometer acted up. Several months ago, the car would not reverse,it made a sound when I did backed back. I took my 2007 Saturn Aura xr 3. 6l to firestone to have a diagnostic test. Firestone alerted me that I needed a timing chain. I search the internet and found gm warranty 11340 covered other gm vehicles with the same 3. 6l motor and repaired the timing chain at no cost! why is the Saturn Aura not on the list we have the same motor.

The first sign of problems was while driving the automatic locks started locking and unlocking themselves. This would happen off and on with it locking and unlocking very quickly and repeatedly, ceasing and then starting it again forapproximately 2 or 3 days. Then it would stop all together for 3 or 4 days maybe a week and then repeat the same pattern. I also noticed a couple of times while my car was parked in my driveway the brake lights would be on. I'm not sure if they went off when I parked my car and got out for the day or if they just suddenly came on while my car was parked. I only noticed this around 3 or 4 times. The main event which brings me here is I was driving doing around 30 miles per hour on a side road when suddenly I could not control my steering easily. Around the same time or seconds after my dash lights started going crazy and all of them flickering off and on. I immediately started to brake my vehicle to come to a stop because it scared me. I was seconds from my destination and my husband was with me and we decided very slowly make it to the bank parking lot. As I turned my car started acting as if it was just failing to run. My husband says this was the transmission. As I turned and started to brake to a stop my brakes did not work as they normally did. Once stopped my car died and would not turn over. We thought the battery died. We then got a jump and the car died again this time not starting back at all.

My car has been nothing but problems since I purchased it. The moonroof has leaked and I have paid to have it repaired several times even though gm says they aren't to blame. The leaks in the moonroof are only what I can start to attribute the electrical problems to. I randomly loose radio controls, have buttons that don't work, cant use my key fobs after replacing them and replacing batteries only the "panic" button will work. What takes the cake is the reduced engine power light that came on yesterday and the service ecm light, nearly killing us on the highway. I get reduce engine power but with no warning to go from 68 to 35 in the high speed lane is asking for death. On top of it the more I've googled the issues it seems like this is an electrical problem gm is well aware of and never has done anything about from 2007-2009 Auras, there are a lot of people who say they've spent thousands of dollars at the gm dealership trying to solve their problems t =o be given no real answers. I am scared now to drive my vehicle again as the lights went off and it "seems" to be fine. I am even more scared to bring it to a dealership where if the lights aren't on they cant diagnose it, although it sounds like from what I've read even with lights on diagnoses' are poor and not accurate. Enough people are describing the same exact things going on with their vehicles how is there no definitive fix and why are people being sent back out on the roads with faulty cars. Not only that if 3 years worth of cars are having electrical issues all the same how is there no recall????.

The messaging display was indicating "traction control" and "engine power reduced" when I was driving and the car started slowing down. I pulled over and waited for a few minutes and started it up again. It drove for a while and then the display came back on. I had it checked but nothing was found. This happened a few times and it seems the problem was getting worse as the car started shaking and making loud noises. I took it back and was told this is a growing problem with this vehicle. I called the dealer and was told that there was a recall on similar vehicle with the same problem but was told my car was not covered, and they did not say why. The local repair shop tells me it is expensive to repair and cannot give more than a 30 days warranty on the repair. This is very frustrated especially since I have done everything as a responsible owner to upkeep this vehicle as recommended. The manufacturer needs to be responsible and do the right thing with integrity.

Approximately 30 days ago, I started experiencing issues where the car will not shift from park gear to drive gear. This issue has occurred approximately 10 times during this window. Sometimes when this issue occurs the esc light is on while other times the light is off. The only way to "trick" the car from shifting to park to drive is to turn the car off, press on the brake pedal or emergency brake to ensure car is still in park and gently push and hold the gear shift button then crank the car back on.

The cruise control in my 2008 Saturn Aura is not functioning. Service esc and traction control lights flash on the dashboard intermittently. Brakes lights are on constantly, even when the brake is not applied. I took my car to a Saturn-approved chevy dealer for service and referenced the NHTSA recall #14v252000 from 2014. The mechanics checked the scan data and found the brake pedal learned position data was erractic in the body control module and won't hold the settings. They checked the circuits and connections (and supposedly reperformed the 2014 recall repair) but concluded that the fault is in the bcm. They suggested replacing the bcm, at a cost of $600. I explained to the mechanic that I believe the failing bcm is due to the voltage fluctuations that prompted the recall, left the dealership, and called gm. A senior advisor at gm explained that they will not do anything about the apparent safety defect because the recall did not require replacement of the bcm.

Brake lights illuminate without brake pedal being depressed, and do not illuminate when brake pedal is depressed while driving. Service traction, service erc, and esc off warnings appear on dashboard. Nhtsa campaign # 14v252000, gm recall # 13036 was not applied to my VIN even though my manufacture date is 12/08, within the specifications of said recall.

Takata recall the ecm light was on the brake lights stay on when car is on and when applying the brakes the brake lights go out. It his difficult to move the shifter from park to another gear. I have this car for 2 years and every time I check there is no recall on my car. The air bag light on passenger side comes and goes all the time.

I have a 2009 Saturn Aura xr, I was driving to get on the freeway going about 40-45mph then the light can on saying "esc traction" "engine power reduce" the car started to lose power and the brakes felt really tight. I tried to accelerate but it wouldn't go no faster than 30mph. I exited the freeway parked the car turned if off and turned it back on. When I turned it back on the same problem "esc traction" "engine power reduce" and the check engine light was on, the car was on parked position and the car started to jolt forward. I had to wait for about 1-2 hours before the car was back to itself but this time it felt different driving it. The car felt like it was accelerating too quickly and I wasn't going no more than 15mph. This has happened 3 times in the past month. Is there a recall on this car because its unsafe to drive not knowing when the 'esc traction" "engine power reduce" lights will come on again.

Saturn Aura 2008 tail lamp malfunction. I brought the vehicle to tustin gm for brake repair and brake light repair. I was told it was the brake light switch, I wasn't told anything about a recall. 2 weeks ago, I noticed my traction control, esc and panic brake assistance were not working along with cruise control and a few other features. It occurred randomly after at least an hour of driving. I noticed after a few times this occurred my brake lights would illuminate while I was in park with the headlights off. I tested it, and they indeed turned off when I engaged my brakes, only to illuminate again when I disengaged my brakes. I was very nervous driving it home and had a few close calls on the city street stopping at stop lights. I brought this back to tustin gm's attention and they told me it's been corrected and it's now my responsibility to pay for the charges of fixing it. I refused and brought it to orange coast Buick GMC and Cadillac. They were unable to diagnose the issue and refused to believe that it had anything to do with the recall, wouldn't even check. I made a case with the manufacturer and they said my only option is to drive the unsafe vehicle until the problem occurs and then bring it into a dealer so they can find out the issue. They claim my problem does not correlate with the recall in any way shape or form, and have done everything short of calling me a liar. I now have a rental vehicle because I am depended on by my elders to bring them to and from appointments. I need my vehicle fixed, properly, and hopefully some type of cost assistance with the rental vehicle. The manufacturer also can't seem to tell me the exact date the recall was remedied. First they said January, then they said August. 763-228-4543.

This car has been a bust since the warranty expired. The transmission went out a year ago and was of course a recall for many other Auras except our specific one. Had that replaced, now its the timing chain, which is also a common complaint of the Aura yet there is no recall. The car misfires, shakes violently when in idle and when driving. It has a very hard shift. Its very hard to accelerate and the rpms shoot up. It also stalls and it sometimes just shuts off. Every light in the vehicle is on, check engine, stabilty, etc. It another expensive repair thats worth more than half the car.

For the past year when I turn on my vehicle & start driving the service airbag lights up & starts dinging. In October 2015 I was involved in a collision on interstate 60 & my airbags never deployed when impact accrued going approximately 55ml an hr & my front bumper had to be replaced & drivers side wheel locked up making car not driveable impact was on passenger front & side of car & my airbags never deployed & light continues to read service airbag I went to Chevrolet 1yr ago & told them they said my car had a recall only for the brake lights & that's all that fixed. The oil engine light comes on once & awhile even when my oil has been changed but not as of her as the service airbag light yet my car shows its not included in the airbag recall so I don't understand what's going on & no one els has answers either except to take it to dealership but when I did nothing was done it even looked at when comes to my airbag & again airbags never deployed when I was involved in a collision on interstate 60 in oct 2015. Also my drivers side seat when ajusting the seat continues to go out & takes a day or two on continually playing with ajusters on side of seat to get it to work to push seat back or forward if I allow one of my kids to use car to run to store.

Case # with GMC is 81598832107 9/30/15 was at left turn lane to go in my neighbor hood put in park to grab something of the floor when I put back into drive my car started to reverse. Put it back into park and then drive and the same thing. Lucky I had my neighbor behind me him and others help me push it to a safe zone very close to my house, pushed it half way on drive way and put in park and it rolled across the street while trying to stop it I put myleft foot down caused more pain due to me recent surgery. This car has been to GMC for the recall cable 3 times, this time they said they only place half of it and will now replace the whole cable. Was called on 9/30 5 hours at the shop and was told it was ready, I explained that I don't feel safe driving this car. Too many times for the same cable. . . . I've also had a issue with the smell of gas coming from the car but could not see any fuel, so I took to a mechanic and had them look at it and said te top of the fuel pump was cracked I had them replace the whole pump. . . There was fuel leaking under my seat, I have now seen there is other Saturn Aura with the same problem. I don't feel safe driving this car this a big issue and if GMC and I can come to an agreement it will be easy agreement. I was really glad that I did no give this car to my young nephew who knows what would of happened. . . . . .

Service esc, service traction and esc off dashboard lights has started illuminating intermittently, but have become a regular issue after turning on and driving the car. Saturn car manual says this could be safety hazard.

This is the second time in the last year I lost use of my steering wheel. The first time, I was backing up and lost all control of my steering. I did not report it because there was not a warning light. Today, sept. 3,2015 I was driving through the parking lot of the school (may 2 to 5 mph) when I lost all control of the steering. I wasn't able to turn the wheel either way, it was completely locked up. I stopped the car and turned off the ignition. After a copy of minutes, I restarted the car and it was fine. It was very scary knowing I could not control the car. I noticed older vehicles had the same issue and they had a recall. I believe the 2009 Aura should be investigated for the same recall.
