All gm vehicles with v-6 motor from 2007 to 2009. The vehicle will loose the ability to keep going forward or to backup. Can happen at 70 mph on highway or while parked and shift to backup or go forward. Only 1st and 2nd gear will work. The cause is a transmission clutch wave plate used by gm that explodes after vehicles hit 100,000 miles or more. Traveling on highway with 6 lanes and lost all power to keep moving forward. Major risk of being rear-ended or killed trying to get car off the highway. Gm failed to do a recall, instead gm chose only to do a service bulletin sent to dealers, not owners of the effected vehicles. When this faulty wave plate hits 100,000 miles or more it will explode and throw metal into the transmission completely destroying the transmission. Gm chose to only do the service bulletin. Said bulletin expired on August 21, 2018 at the same time the 2007-2009 models were reaching or passing 100,000 miles. Attached is the repair bill for $3,370. 50 to replace my transmission due to a faulty clutch wave plate. Service bulletin is number14404a. I want gm to pay me my repair costs.

Transmission (6t40) suddenly failed while driving. Stopped shifting above 2nd gear (25 mph). Once I pulled out of the highway and parked, I could not reverse. Left me stranded. Gm has a recall for similar 6t70 transmission, but refuses to cover mine even though 6t40 has same problems as 6t70.

Car riding fine. No lights then all of a sudden I get in from the grocery store and my check engine light comes on, traction control light comes on, engine power reduced warning comes on and car starts jerking.
I bought 2009 Saturn Aura brand new and it only has 50,000 miles and now I have transmission issues . Called the 800 number to Saturn and they gave me a voucher so I could take it to a Chevrolet dealer so I did the car checked out and it came up with a code po601 trans electro control module they said I need a transmission valve body work and flush . April 2009 they came out with a TSB sept 7 2009 and in may they came out with another TSB pip-4327a. In August of 2009 I had bought my Saturn and I guess it had transmission problems if I would of known this ! I wouldn't of bought the Saturn . I bought my first 1991 Saturn sl2 and it gave me 200,000 miles. I think there should be a factory warranty on my Saturn.
There was a recall #12106 in 2011. There is a shifter cable problem, it breaks. It was replaced under the recall. Well, it broke again in 2013, 2015 and just recently, Nov. 24, 2017. The previous ones were covered under the recall. The most recent repair was not. On Nov. 24th, when it broke again, I was on the street I live on; I live on a hill; the car would not stop; I had to engage the emergency brake to get it to stop rolling. The car had to be towed to a dealer for repair. This is the 4th repair!.
I can not get service without making multiple trips to the dealer as required by gm to install a part that is known to them.
While my daughter was driving on a city street utica road and gratiot in roseville mi the engine shut off without any warning. Luckily no one was behind the car when it shut off or on the freeway at the time or it could have been a bad situation or accident. The car would not start back up just clicking in ignition when turning key in the ignition. Had to call for a tow at 10pm. Shop said something went wrong with timing chain and compression test showed no compression in cylinder 4 possibly bent valves. I recently received a letter from gm regarding a condition when increased resistance in the body control module resulting in voltage fluctuations or intermittency in the brake apply sensor dated March 2017.

35r waved plate broke and damaged transmission internal components. Also damaged teams case. Indepenant shop suggested I take thi car to gm dealer as this is happening on other vehicles with 6 speed electronic controlled transmissions. Gm dealer told me there was a service action against this transmission with a 6 cylinder engine, but my car has a 4 cylinder engine and gm could not offer any assistance. . Gm customer service representative suggested I contact NHTSA with my concern of defective transmission in vehicle. My car has 41883 miles at time of transmission replacement. When waved plate shattered, I was driving on I-94 west bound at 55 mph, causing the vehicle into lump mode as I braked for traffic. I was fortunate that I was not hit by the pick up truck behind me as he changed lanes to pass. . Car was repaired at gordon Chevrolet in garden city, mi 48135. Customer number 2440373, invoice number 21573.
Yielding onto a highway, vehicle suddenly felt like it had no forward momentum when applying gas but corrected itself. Next, traveling on a highway, the transmission felt like it was in neutral. Once pulled over and restarted, there was no 3rd, 5th or reverse gear. Vehicle had to be towed. Massively expensive transmission rebuild.

There was a recall on the gear shift box. It was supposedly fixed and corrected in Dec 2015 by capital Cadillac. This past Friday 28 Apr 2017, I was backing in, I put the car in park. The car was still moving so, I put the foot brake on. Later, I started the car, it would not turn but the radio was on. I thought I needed a jump and that wasn't the case, next I had the car towed to capitol Cadillac where I had the the recall done. Paul from capitol Cadillac confirmed it was the gear shift box (cable). The same item that was recalled malfunctioned, again. The dealer wouldn't replace this item because it was 1year and 4 months over the warranty and the special coverage warranty expired in 2016. I've now incurred an out-of-pocket expense due to a recall order that was haphazardly fixed properly 1 year and 4 months later.
Transmission started to shift roughly. Shift from 6th to 5th, or 5th to 4th gear when going up an incline extremely jerky. Car dropped to 2nd or 3rd gear, engine raced to high rpms as speed declined from 60mph. No reverse gear after coming to a stop. Barely made if off the highway while navigating thru densely packed four lane highway speed traffic. Transmission shop estimates exceed $4k.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. While driving in a parking lot, the vehicle rolled backwards without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.
Car gear shift cable has snapped causing the ability to put car in park and turn off car without it being in park and allowing the car to roll. This is a recall for 2009 Saturn Aura but not for one with my VIN even though it is that problem is the exact thing that is recalled.
While parking my Saturn any parking spot I attempted to put car in reverse and the clip broke for the transmission in the car continue rolling and left the car in operable and I noticed other recalls on the transmission for the same description regarding the transmission I believe that my ven should be added to the recall regarding the transmission having issues at this point we are having difficulty finding a replacement clip for the transmission wire which operates from park to drive to neutral.
With only 92500 miles use, vehicle 6 speed transmission started making a hard sound when shifting from 4th gear to 5th gear, especially when moving at highway speeds and accelerating. Dealer inspected and found that 35r piston and wave plate are defective. Recommending transmission overhaul to correct. This is the same defect noted in previous NHTSA actions for this vehicle although dealer claims VIN number is not covered by current actions.
On December 30, 2016, I started the vehicle and drove a half mile @ 25 mph to a stop sign, I pulled onto ritchie highway when the vehicle wouldn't shift out of second, the engine went to 4,000 rpm, and would not go over 35 mph. I pulled off onto the shoulder, and turned the engine off. After waited 15 minutes. I started the engine and the check engine lite was on. I than waited till I had no traffic, and returned home (1 miles away). The vehicle was sifting fine, but the check engine lite stayed on on Dec. 31, 2016, I drove the vehicle to the gm dealership and the vehicle still had the check engine light on, but now when shifting, it would shudder, would not down shift, and was also shuddering in reverse when I was parking the vehicle at the dealership. . . I'm told on Jan. 3, 2017, that it needs a control value, not covered by the recall # 14404, and that I would have to pay $2,150. The control value is contaminated by debris from the failed 3rd, 5th, and rev. Clutch plate / gears. Why is this not included in the recall? I've contacted gm (case # 8-2633465781) and they can't explain why. . Please help. Ralph.
