I was driving across the parking lot going to get something to eat. My son was in the rear left passenger seat. As I began turning the wheel, the car locked up, hesitated, then quickly sped up. Because there was no ability to gain control of the car, the vehicle stuck the curbside and then a tree. My son and I were not injured, only shook up. The incident was reported immediately and the adjuster informed me of the recall on the Saturn Auras.
Experiencing issues with the esc, transaction control sensors, and power locks. We have had the sensor in the gas pedal replaced without success. We are experiencing issues daily with our speed control, locks, and esc and traction sensors. Contacted gm and they stated our vehicle is not on the recall list due to it being manufactured in NY. We need to get this resolved ASAP as we have a newborn on the way.
We have not been able to get our recalls repaired. We have only been able to get the brake sensor repaired. We are still having issues with the esc sensors, speed control and power locks freaking out whenever they want. Every time we call the dealership we are being told that the parts are not available. This issue is getting worse and need to be corrected ASAP.
When driving the vehicle, the brake lights would come on randomly and would turn off when the brake pedal is pressed. They would operate in the opposite way that they should. This is extremely dangerous because vehicles behind you don't know when you are braking. This has been happening intermittently for months now.

I was driving my Saturn Aura on highway when the car abruptly dropped gears and the speed at which I was traveling was significantly reduced. I quickly pulled over to check out the problem. There didn't seem to be any major malfunctions at quick glance. Hoping that it was just a minor mishap, I attempted to drive it again. It was good for about 30 seconds when the car suddenly jumped up to 4,000 rpm and would not allow me to drive above 40 mph. Luckily I was able to get the car off the nearby exit and into a parking lot. Once the car was parked, it would not reverse. This could have turned into a major incident had there been more traffic on the highway. There were no warning signs as the car had been driving fine up until then. I also keep up with routine maintenance.
Rear brake lights came on without pressing the brake pedal & stayed on. When the brake pedal is applied all the rear brake lights go out as long as pressure is applied. When brake pedal pressure is released the brake lights come back on. When this problem is happening the speed control, stability control and traction control also stop working. Dealer replaced module 2. 560 part # 25861370. This same problem happen again at 48,300 miles on 9/7/12 and I had dealer repair again but this time the repair was not covered by warranty.
I came to a complete stop, the car was in drive. I accelerated and my car drove backwards, in reverse. I was frightened and deeply concerned. I took my car to the dealership for repair, no repair was done on this serious problem. The work order states, they could not duplicate concern.
Under heavy acceleration vehicle becomes unstable when passing (over crown of road) or upon encountering parallel or diagonal joint in road surface.
My 2007 Saturn Aura had been into the dealership approx. 1. 5 weeks ago because the vehicle was having difficulty accelerating. The engine would rev but the car wouldn't move. The dealership said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. On the night of September 20, 2007, at approximately 8:30 pm, while driving the car in a residential neighborhood, I tried to apply the brakes at a stop sign. The abs light came on, the pedal went to the floor, and the car revved, surged forward through an intersection and struck another vehicle. My car hit car #2 with such force that it caused car #2's wheel axle to snap in half and severe damage to car #2's front passenger side fender and door that the car needed to be towed away. I was taken away in an ambulance. Onstar confirmed two codes at the time of the accident: #1--abs/traction control system malfunction and #2--take the car to a service center as it may exhibit abnormal behavior when driving and/or stopping. This Saturn Aura has been nothing but problems since getting it in October 2006. It has just over 14,000 miles on it and has been serviced for the aforementioned issue plus replacing a broken engine mount, replacing a leaking engine gasket, resurfacing the brake rotors at 7,000 miles, multiple repairs to a non-functioning onstar system, and consistent issues with the warning light on the tire inflation monitor (I eventually had the tires filled with nitrogen). This car is a hazard. Because of the service history of the vehicle, I have obtained legal counsel. The Saturn will be evaluated by an independent mechanic to determine what needs to be repaired. I am scared to drive this car again.
Since buying my Saturn Aura in March 2007 my life has been a complete headache. I first had to take my car into the shop with only 2300 miles on it for rack and pinion to be replaced. Since then it has been in the shop no less than every 6 months. I have had to replace the brakes and rotors two times, motor mount, passenger air bag, sunroof drain, water pump, coolant crossover pipe, water reservoir, steering shaft and more. Now my rack and pinion is bad again and they will not fix it. Also there is a major rattle in front of car and squeal coming from front drivers side tire. They tell me that there is nothing wrong and cannot duplicate. Just recently I have started to notice that my car steering is funny and also that it cuts out or accelerates on it's own. I am planning on getting it back in again to the shop soon. I do not feel safe driving this car. I have three small children and want something done to stop all the problems.
