When placing the vehicle in park, it will not always register that it is park; therefore, it will not release the key from the ignition. After multiple attempts of moving the gear shift from drive to park, it will eventually allow the key to be removed from the ignition. When car is parked in driveway, I have trouble removing key from ignition. I do not know why this is happening.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

I've had several times where my car wasn't as stable as it should be. The car itself rumbles and jerks a lot on city streets and as I get off the highway. In the past there's been a few issues with the breaks. During winter time, the car won't start up (I have a new battery now and it still happens). Acceleration is occasionally delayed. Lastly there's a clicking noise coming from the passenger side of the car which continues from the time the key is in the ignition until I take it out.

Took my vehicle for inspection it passed safety and failed emissions ! there is no engine check light on.

6 Electrical System problem

Unable to shut vehicle off. Repeat turning switch on and off eventually shuts vehicle off and able to remove key. Vehicle is parked when attempting to shut off. Engine does not appear to be running but unable to take key out of switch. This has occurred on or about yr 2012 to current. Did not drive vehicle at all last year (2016).

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2016

Was guaranteed that nothing was wrong with it. I originally got a 2007 Ford escape by trading in my vehicle and 500 cash. They wanted me to put down an additional 900 down which I ended up not being able to do. So they offered to put me in another vehicle that was cheaper and I would not have to put any more money on. The 2004 Saturn Ion I received on 08/23/2016 not only had clutch issues which I said I would fix, but the battery light kept coming on and they assured me that nothing was wrong with the car mechanically. We did not even make it down the road before the vehicle broke down and had to have it towed. So now the car sits in my yard and I am out my original vehicle and the 500 cash I used originally plus towing charges and a vehicle I have to pay on that I cannot drive. I want them to come get the car and give back the 500 I wasted on two junk vehicles. I also had issues with the 2007 Ford escape. I was pretty much stuck taking this vehicle since I live two hours away and had no other way home.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2015

While driving home from work my car died in the middle of an intersection. The a/c went off first then everything went off. I put car in park and after several tries the car started again. My ignition also gets stuck in the acc position(even after two ignition recalls) on a regular basis so glad I wasn't fighting that at that problem at the same time. Called gm dealer they said there is no recall but bring it in, they won't provide a loaner car but will give me a ride home because I live within 10 miles.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

This is regarding the gm recalls for my 2004 Saturn Ion. As of June 5, the recall work up to that point was completed by my dealer, but I had previously paid for the repair, so am due a reimbursement from gm. My dealer told me to provide them with the documentation for the reimbursement and they would take care of getting me an expedited reimbursement. That documentation was delivered to my dealer on June 5th, but the dealer has no information regarding my reimbursement, even after inquiring with the dealer several times (June 6th, June 18th and twice in July), the dealer has not provided me with * information. I have fairly detailed information regarding my inquiries and the responses (or lack of response) from the dealer. What can I do in order to get the dealer to submit the reimbursement paperwork associated with this recall? I don't want to submit it again myself until I know the dealer has not submitted it since I don't want to cause any undue complications. Thank you! -richard alloway.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2013

I was driving into parking lot and electric power steering warning with alarm came on the readout on the dash. At that time it had become nearly impossible to turn the steering wheel in any direction. If anyone had been close enough to me there would have been a collision. I turned the ignition off and then on again and the electric steering returned. I am the original owner of the vehicle and this incident put me in a panic mode because I am physically disabled with disabilities that affect my arms and legs. Trying to turn the steering wheel when the electric steering failed caused me great pain. I fear that if this happens again there could be a serious accident with other vehicles or even serious injuries to pedestrians. There was no way I could control that vehicle without a fully functional electric steering. I consider myself lucky that the vehicle was going at a very slow rate of speed and not on the roadway when this happened.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2013

My Saturn 2004 Ion has ignition problems and it started in 2010 after I got the car and my keys would get stuck and the power would go out in my Saturn. I took it back to the dealership but they gave me the run around. I took it to the shop over five times and it still did the same thing so in Nov. 2013 the Saturn stop starting and no power at all. Someone know about this problem and sold these cars and putting people in danger. We need justice for all of the people who paid the price for this mess.
