This is to express my frustration with dealing with classic Chevrolet in houston TX as they have no interest in assisting me with this recall. I have called them 5 times and get on a rotating hold pattern. The one time a service adviser did pick up, he hung up on me when I told him it was in regard to the ignition switch recall. Seems that I can not even order the new switch from them. I also tried to work with them through the online service scheduler and have not received any return contact in the last 3 days. I also called the gm hotline and received absolutely no help. The call was also terminated before I could speak to anyone. The recording advised to start with the nearest dealer. That has obviously not worked. Extremely frustrating in lieu of what american taxpayers have done for gm.

I own two Saturn Ions. One in which I was having issues with the ignition switch before the recall and I already had the ignition switch replaced. The other car did not have any ignition switch issues but I thought I would do the right thing and have it done. What a mistake. . . . . . . Several years ago I had an after market remote start put in my car. After the new ignition switch was installed the remote start did not work. I was told that the dealership that did the recall was not allowed to touch the remote start system. I took the car back to where I had the remote start installed and had incurred an $80. 00 charge to relearn the new ignition switch. Am I ever going to see that $80. 00 back? I called one of your complaint phone lines and was that they were experiencing a high number of calls and that someone would get back to me within 48 hours. That never happened.

Took my Saturn in yesterday for the recall on the ignition switch-got a phone call from the dealer saying that the housing for the switch also needs replacing, but gm will not cover it and I need to pay for that part and the labor. The switch can not be replaced unless this housing is replaced, but now they want me to pay for it even though the recall says this should be at no cost to me. I called gm and they are saying that the housing is not covered in the recall. According to the recall information, I should be able to get reimbursed for having to replace the switch, but first I had to replace it again, which is what I was trying to do. What can I do about this? it does not make since to me. Have me do the recall and then attach a charge for it because you can not do it unless you replace something else. Is the not a problem of a "causal part"? if this not a problem for your agency, please refer me to an agency that can handle this. I am currently awaiting more information from the gm dealer, fremont Chevrolet. As of now, they have my Saturn torn apart and are "thinking" of what they can do for me.

I received recalls beginning in April 2014 regarding the ignition switch, then one regarding the ignition cylinder. Both recalls have caused injury or death. I now understand that there is also a recall on the power steering. (3 open recalls in all) I contacted my local Chevrolet dealer as instructed on April 18th and have been back and forth with both the dealership and Saturn customer assistance @ 800-553-6000. I was issued a case# 71-1300074576 but my family is still driving the car. We don't feel safe driving the car but was told that there was no room to leave it at the dealership so I have to wait until June. This is unacceptable! I understand that a loaner can be provided. I want to drop the car off somewhere and pick up a safe vehicle for my family to drive until the repairs can be made.

Campaign id #14v-047 gm case#71-1284927343 ignition switch recall I was offered a rental car but gm is not reimbursing the cost of insurance for the rental. I cannot afford nor have the time to argue my case with gm. This is gm's fault, they should be reimbursing all costs incurred by this recall. Please assist me. I do not want to have to retain an attorney for this.

The consumer stated he was able to remove the key from ignition, at any time in any gear. The consumer was involved in two accidents due to the vehicle shutting off, during a turn. The second accident occurred in February 2014. While attempting to make a turn, he soon discovered the vehicle had no power steering and was unable to steer the vehicle. My 2004 Saturn Ion intermittently will not release the key from the acc position as well as when trying to start it the security system will intermittently keep the car from starting, I will go to start the vehicle and then it will start to crank then shut down, I have to wait 10 min then the car will start. It is starting to happen more frequently and I seen the just did a recall on 2/25/2014 on ignition switches for my year and model of Saturn but my VIN was not included and I can see that several complaints have been put in and this in many cases was just a start to what other people have incurred @ some point most other people complain eventually then cannot get the engine to stop running. I am trying to find out why my VIN is not included in this recall as I just took my vehicle to the shop coincidentally for this problem as they told me was the ignition switch but did not have the funds to repair it. This to me is obsurd when you see the amount of complaints and now I find out 13 people have died!.
When starting the Saturn on a cold morning, the ignition fails to start the car. I get a service message. After waiting about 10 minutes the car will start as if the security was resetting itself. I've read several complaints of this problem on the internet. Gm will not own up to a faulty product that leaves Saturn owners completely stranded. This problem occurs at random times, even on warm days. A recall must be approved for this massive safety problem. It's a safety concern because in an emergency the cars shouldn't have to sit for an additional ten minutes or stall out in unsafe areas. The problem seems to correct itself after this ignition switch inside of the steering column has been replaced based on hundreds of testaments. I have replaced my stater and battery before realizing the problem was a faulty ignition switch that numerous other Saturn owners have had the unpleasant experience of dealing with.
The contact owns a 2004 Saturn Ion. The contact stated that the key failed to release from the ignition switch even though repeated attempts were made however, only after awaiting a hour until the engine cooled down the key released independently. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was repaired under the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number: 14v171000 (electrical system) however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was responsible for the repair expense. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was unavailable.
In Dec. 2011, the car would not turn on and I paid $280 for a replacement ignition switch. I have no idea if they used another faulty switch that is now the subject of the current recall. In concern for my safety, I am using a single key, as gm instructed, and waiting for the dealer to get the part to replace the ignition switch. Supposedly, it will happen this month - April. Also in 2011 (or maybe the beginning of 2012) I experienced the intermittent loss of the power steering. That was paid for by gm but, again, now I have no idea if they put in another faulty power steering column that is the subject of today's recall. When I called gm today, they said that last power steering replacement was not a recall, it was a special safety issue #10187. I asked if the incentive to trade in the car would be extended due to another recall and they could not answer the question because that is a sales issue, not a repair issue. I think it's time to replace this car, maybe with a Ford!.
When starting the Saturn on a cold morning, the ignition fails to start the car. I get a service message. After waiting about 10 minutes the car will start as if the security was resetting itself. I've read several complaints of this problem on the internet. Gm will not own up to a faulty product that leaves 100s of people stranded. As time goes by this problem occurs at random times, even on warm days. I would like a recall approved for this massive safety problem. It's a safety concern because in an emergency our cars shouldn't have to sit for an additional ten minutes or stall us in a potentially bad neighborhood. The problem seems to correct itself after this ignition switch inside of the steering column has been replaced based on hundreds of testaments. I want to add that my Saturn when it was new had other recall issues like the automatic light sensor. Also, another safety issue.
The contact owns a 2004 Saturn Ion. The contact made numerous attempts before the key would release from the ignition switch. The key of my Saturn Ion will not come out when the vehicle is shut down. When the vehicle is stopped and in park, the key turns back to off but will not come out. This is the second ignition switch we've had put in this car, and there are literally thousands of people that this is happening to.
The contact owns a 2004 Saturn Ion. While parking, the shift lever failed to go into park and the key became stuck in the ignition switch. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the vehicle was working up to standards. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. The VIN was not available.
2004 Saturn Ion- ignition fails to release the key, cannot remove the key from ignition without struggling. Have researched the consumer affairs website and there are so many complaints about this occurring, that is unreal. Fortunately we have not had to leave the car running yet. . . As so many other customers and some have had to remove a fuse to get the car to turn off. Saturn needs to do a voluntary recall on this and replace all of the ignition switches before a tragedy occurs.
I owe a 2004 Saturn Ion and like many others, I having problems with my ignition switch. The power steering also goes out while driving. I purchased this vehicle in 2006 and started having problems 3 months afterwards. At first I thought it was only my vehicle until I was looking for a part via the internet and ran across other complaints. It's a shame that gm hasn't done a recall. There are several consumers affected by this problem.
I own a 2004 Saturn Ion quad coupe and like others, it has the cold weather fail to start problem when the temperature is below freezing. I stopped by the local Saturn garage to see what type of repair is recommend for this problem. They are quite aware of the problem with no warranty replacement. Their suggestion, if I didn't want to spend the bundle of money to have the ignition switch replaced was to carry bic lighter to warm the key. The service writer said that Saturn engineering speced the wrong temperature grease to lube the switch. Now, I the customer, have to deal with the another gm generated engineering design problem. This is a very annoying problem because I can not rely on an otherwise perfectly good running car and can't count on it for an emergency.
