1 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2014

As I was driving home on the freeway on a clear day. I noticed that the steering wheel was hard to turn when I try to change lane. I then decided to pull over at the first exit. When I slowed the vehicle down, it was clear that I had no power steering. There was no warning on the dash console and no audio alarm. Finally, I turned off the engine and restarted the car. The power steering came back and I managed to drive the car home.

2 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2011

This complain has to do with a Saturn 2004 Ion, my steering wheel was not working at all, it was hard to make left and right turns, as driving with a steering wheel that is hard to move is really dangerous. Thank god I was not driving to a far place, but I have been online checking the recalls on the Saturn Ion 2004, and I cannot believe that a company will not recall these cars, I know that is a loss on money but honestly is going to be your fault if someone gets hurts while driving with defects on the Saturns, they will be sued . So dont think about the money , think about the lifes of people that are letting you know that this car is defective, so if something does happened to me, I will sued this company .

3 Steering Is Tight problem

4 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2009

2004 Saturn Ion 4 cylinder straight drive transmission-mileage 20,800. Power steering message keeps coming on. In daily 62 mile drive, comes on a min of 6 times. Have to pull off road, turn car off, wait for electronic steering to reset and turn car back on. When message flashes, steering is extremely hard to turn. If you are in a curve or turn can lead to an accident. Has been happening since Nov 2009. Call Saturn of concord, talked to service manager. Said there was recall but my VIN # was not included in recall. Cost to repair - $50 diagnostic test - $800 for part. Called gm cust service was basically told there was a recall but it was for chev. Cobalt, not Saturn Ion. Googled and found hundreds of customers who have had the same problem with Saturn Ion 2003, 2004, etc. Gm cust service would not acknowledge that any complaints had been filed with gm using hippa law to justify not telling me if complaints have been filed. Want gm to repair my car problem at no charge. Obviously manuf defect in this model of Saturn.

5 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2008

Steering problem with my Saturn Ion 3 - while sitting in traffic waiting to make a left turn the power steering ceased. The dash board starts dinging and the words power steering start to flash. It is then impossible to turn the steering wheel to make the turn without turning the wheel forcefully. This has posed a serious condition because you are usually trying to make a turn in traffic. It also happened to my daughter and she got very frightened and did not know what to do. The steering wheel is even harder to turn than when cars did not actually have power steering. It has happened several times and I have not had it looked at yet. The car has to be shut off and restarted to correct the problem. The mileage on my Saturn is only 25,000 miles.
