My ignition will not turn �off�. It will get stuck and the only way to fix the problem is to put shifter into reverse and back into park then try to turn the switch off . Also the muffler is not completely stablized to the car without tampering.

Driving on I-95 in richmond va on Aug. 28 at approximately 8:30 pm. Heard a loud bang on my roof. I was not near an overpass and did not see any debris on road. Using my rear-view mirror I observed a large dark object flying off the roof. At first I thought it was a rock but I now believe it to be a large chunk of my glass sunroof flying off. I believe my sunroof exploded.

The warning chimes and audible turn signal indicators stopped working. While the headlight on when vehicle is shut off or key left in switch will not cause any safety problem (I don't think), not having the turn signal clicking may lead to driving with a signal left on while driving straight. The other potential problem is that the sound chime no longer works to indicate that the seat belts are not fastened which could cause one to drive without seat belt and increase potential injury in case of a crash.

My car began with my ignition switch sticking and I received a recall notice in the mail so I took it to be corrected. . . . After supposably being fixed I'm still having the same problem. Now about 5 months ago I started smelling a faint smell of gas. . . Now its so severe I can't drive the car. It's actually dripping onto the ground. It takes 3 or more times to get it to crank. The gas mileage has gone down from 30 to nothing. From the VIN search my car isn't included in the recall for this which is ridiculous. I don't have the money to have this fixed. I don't understand why gm isn't taking responsibility for this. Lives are at stake here. Please help.

The gear shift button that must be depressed in order to put the car into any gear has come off. The button can be replaced, but must be properly lined up and can immediately fall off again. This could cause a real safety issue if it occurred in traffic.

My Saturn was at the dealer for the gm ignition recall. The dealer told me my fuel lines were rotted and leaking. I thought this odd since the car was at the mechanic's for a rusted exhaust the week before. I called my mechanic from the dealer and he said to bring the car back that day. He found the leaking lines. Total cost of repairs $567. 42 since all gm parts were purchased. The dealer had to have known to look for this problem, leading me to believe it's a known issue.

This car has a manuel transmission. I tried to put it in gear to back out of the drive way and it wouldn't budge. So I let it roll backwards in neutral to the street. I pumped the clutch to see if that would work. It wouldn't go into first gear when I would try to get it in gear it would slowly move forward even though it wasnt in gear. I checked the fluid levels and they were fine. I turned off the car and tried to put it in first it went into first gear just fine and when I turned the ignition on, it lunged me forward. I drove about 25 feet while trying to change into second gear, it wouldn't budge. So I had to turn off the car again so it would go into first gear then I started it up and it lunged me forward again. I needed to turn around to get back to the house because something was clearly wrong. I tried once again to put it in second, same problem I had to turn it off then throw it in first and start it up real quick. I finally got it in second gear and drove it home. I stayed idling in second gear in front of my house for about 5-7 min. Then I tried to go and it worked, it went into gear with ease, and changed into all the other gears with ease as I dove through the neighborhood just like it was a brand new car again & all day like nothing had ever happened. Now every morning since the same thing has happened so I take the same steps, I pump the clutch and let it sit about 5 min. And end up spplying pressure to get it into gear and it will work all day until this morning. It will still go into gear when its off and starts the same way as I explained but now after waiting the 5-7 min before I take off it still wont go into gear or "fix itself" like it did before. Have many people complained about this? I've been the only owner of this car and reported it to my local dealer, it will cost $115. 00 just for them to diagnose it and im on a limited income.

I went to start my car to go to work and the key would not move in the ignition. Not one millimeter. I checked that the wheels were straight, checked that it was in park. Still no movement. Meaning I was not able to move the key forward or backward. After trying at the minimum 15 times, I called triple a and then my husband. He told me to cancel triple a and contact the dealer and have them deal with it. As it was only 7:15 and I had to wait until the dealer opened at 9:00. I sat and kept trying to get the key to move. Around 8:00 it just suddenly moved forward and the car started. I guess I am filing this complaint because gm installed that whole ignition part thing on my car about 2 months ago. I'm afraid to call them because what could I say? the car starts fine now. But I don't see how I can have any piece of mind worrying that this might occur at any time or anyplace. I have also been waiting for 2 months for a safety recall part(safety recall#14115) for power steering that may suddenly be loss. I have called gm several times to request a rental or loaner vehical and have been told that I am safe in the car and if I am "going fast" I am "safer". I am extremely nervous that I could be involved in a crash or worse and drive the car everyday with a feeling of dread.

Our insured was on I-10 metairie and hestated that they were traveling down I-10 and the vehicle in front of them hit the brakes and came to a complete stop. Our insured slowed and insd insured's steering wheel failed and went right and then he lost control and went to the left hand lane from the right lane across 4 lanes/ our driver did not have control of his vehcile at this time. Our insured was trying to make it to the shoulder and he was almost there and then another vehcile struck his vehcile. Our insured was cited for reckless driving. Our claim number is pa1282552.

I had the ignition switch replaced about 4 months ago prior to the recall announcement. The air bag light had been going on and off ever since I bought the car. It was found at that time that a add on passive kill switch relay had been placed in the air bag relay location. Not long after the key would not come out of the ignition and the car could not be turned off which is when I took it to an auto repair shop who replaced it with another ignition. Now, the air bag light has been coming on while driving and then going off again. It looks like gm is still selling the faulty ignitions. I have received the recall notice. It says however that they do not have the working parts with no indication of when this deadly part can be replaced. What is one to do? yes, I saw their statement that we should park the car until the repair can be made - when ever, if ever, they bother to have the parts. How do I get around until then??? have there been any other reports of the issue that I reported on this site prior of the alarm going off at random times - no strong winds, trucks going by or persons around the vehicle even though I do not set the alarm on? I had to disconnect the battery until I got it to the shop days later but since it was not doing it then they could not find the issue. I suspect the entire electrical system in the Ion is faulty.

The ignition is stuck on the on position. No matter what is done the car cannot be turned off with the ignition key. Had to remove a fuse to get car turned off. There is a recall on this model for the ignition but not for this problem.

The first time it happened, I was driving about 20 mph in traffic when my Saturn Ion shut off in the middle of the road. The person behind me was only inches away from hitting me; she had to slam on brakes. I was able to start right back up, but it was very close to causing an accident. The incident with the car shutting off has happened multiple times. Mechanic could not figure out the problem, the problem is still happening, and I'm afraid to drive my vehicle.

I was driving home early one morning and my ignition had shut off like it had many times before this time the weather conditions being snowy and slushy caused me to get stuck and the vehicle was yanked into the ditch. I had called the claims number after my car had sat at the dealership for about 2 months maybe longer and they told me since the claim was not filed as of the recall came out they are not responsible for it. There is nothing that gm can do they will not refund me for the money to replace my radiator, condenser, and cooling fan that I needed repaired at that time to make my vehicle run. I did not have money at the time to fix the cosmetic damage in the fender and the bumper so that is still broken. The claims department advised me since it was so long after the acident they could not check the vehicles records to see if the vehicle had actually shut off. Now the reason my car is sitting at the dealer ship is because this time my car was stuck running the key is in the on position and couldnt be turned off. I would like some action to be taken or someone to contact me in order to get this taken care of.

My daughter was driving the car hit a bump and the car shut down. It started back up, drove it home and parked it. Gm issued recall on the ignition. I called the dealership and they said gm kind of jumped the gun on the recall as the parts haven't been shipped and to call back in 2 weeks. I called after two weeks and they said no part to call back in a month. He said the car is safe to drive but only have the key in the ignition and not on a chain. Well the ignition can shut the car down if a bump is gone over or if the key is jarred in any way. The car has been parked since January. Gm has known about this problem with the ignition for 10 years and fatalities have occurred due to the airbags not deploying due to the problem with the ignition. How can gm ignored this problem, issue a recall and not get parts out to the repair facilities.

Drove to local market, 5 minutes from my home, key stuck in on position, could not turn car off, drove back home, contacted on-star road side assistance-fuse to disengage fuel pump was pulled and battery disconnected (it was the only way to turn off the car)-car towed to gm dealer replacement of ignition switch with core drilling to fix vehicle-cost $340. 00 plus cost of rental car for 2 days!.

Neither the external or internal door handles will allow one or more doors to open. My drivers side door just stopped working from the external/internal door handles. In the event of an emergency where I might need to get out of my car in a timely manner it will not be possible as I would have to climb over to the passenger side to get out. If something bad happened and both doors had the same problem around the same time someone might have to crawl out the cars windows in order to get out. In the extreme something happened to the electrical system and both doors at the same time you could be trapped in your car until rescue personal arrived. Seems to me that there should not be a single point of failure on a door handles that would cause both the external and internal handles to no longer function as required and cause the door to open. I have done web searches for this and it appears to be a common problem. The fix is you have to take it to someone that could spend upwards of 4 or more hours to get the door opened before they can even start to fix the problem. If gm/Saturn can't correct the problem in an acceptable manner then should at least cover the cost of fixing the problem every time it happens.

On June 21, 2013 pulled into parking lot and attempted to turn engine off. Key was stuck in the on position. Tried several times to remove key but could not. Car was still running. In order to turn car off had to remove the fuse plug from the fuse box under the hood. Also had to disconnect battery in order to not have everything else continue to run and kill the battery. I took it to mechanic who replaced the key ignition but now the car will not start. Seems like its an electrical or security problem within the engine. This is a safety hazard and should be a recall item. Car is still in shop with mechanic hoping to get it started.

When my car first started cutting itself off while driving on the interstate or roads, r when turning key to turn car off, the key wouldn't turn car off. You can remove the key but car is still on. The doors will not unlock till the starter switch locks itself into off. You can put car into park and key will not turn off. I strongly feel that this goes along with the problem of the key turning car off while you are driving. That recall was done but we still have the problem of not being able to turn car off with the key. If you remove the key car is still on, this is a problem as sometimes you can not sit there waiting on car to shut off and this worries me as to safety.

The car will occasionally start right up or it sometimes take anywhere from 2 minutes to 10 minutes to get started. Have had the alternator looked at and that is fine. Cars lights and everything turns on and tested the battery that is fine. Car simply won't go into the run position. Maybe the new fix will change this with the recall but just another problem that I have seen documented online and have experienced constantly.

The key sticks in ignition and the car can't be turned off unless the battery is disconnected or the fuel pump is disconnected. This causes a safety hazard to the average user, like myself, who isn't aware what needs to be done poses the risk of being shocked or burned trying to turn off the car.

My daughter had just gotten off the freeway, she called me hysterical. She couldn't steer the car. Someone helped her push it to the side. I called aaa to have the car towed and was told what happened was ver rare and dangerous. My maintenace personel who has worked for BMW for 17 years says he's only seen this once in his life. A couple of days later I had my car towed to fh dailey in san leandro, and the total cost was $965. 00 a few days later my air bag light came on and my horn wouldn't blow nor would my cruise control work. Again I had to have the car towed I wasn't going to take the chance and drive it with the airbag light on. The cost for that repair was $172. 57 I was told that it was going to be $240 but it was actually lower. I've googled this problem and there are a lot of complaints regarding this matter it should have been a re-call. I am asking for a full refund.

I first bought my 2006 Saturn Ion in March of 2013. Three days later I notice that when I would get on the highway my car would sway extremely bad. Our hwy speed is 75. Going 70mph was too much and it would sway a lot. Mind you I was pregnant at the time. The car spun out as I was exiting the highway. I was terrified because cars were right behind me. Thank god I got out of the way before I got hit. You can understand how upset I was due to the fact that I was 4months pregnant at the time. Since then my husband has spun out 5 times driving our car. We've taking it to the mechanics multiple times and they don't even know what to do with it. Our wheel alignments are fine. Also, our key gets stuck in the ignition a lot upon turning it off. So we have to use the button which is in the steering wheel just to get them out. Also, lately the car picks and chooses when it wants to accelerate. Lately I can floor it and the car will still be going 30mph. Also, lately when we go to turn on the car, it takes awhile and makes a sound as if the battery is dead, but then it soon comes on. I have had nothing but problems with this car from the start. I thought this was a good buy, but everyday I regret it and I fear for me, my husband, and my child's safety. Please do something about this issue. Matter of fact just take our cars. We don't need them fixed. Just take them please!.

My key became stuck in the ignition and would not turn while the car was still running. I had to pull the fuel injector fuse and disconnect my battery to turn the car off. In researching this problem online, I've found that tons of other Saturn owners have encountered this same problem with their ignition cylinders. I believe since this is such an expensive and common problem, that there should be a recall made on this part.

Key became stuck in ignition. Could not remove, car would not shut off. Emergency ignition release did not work. Took car to authorized gm dealer, was told the ignition cylinder and housing had fallen apart and needed to be replaced, and that it is frequently seen with this car model. Total repair cost $569. 97.

A lowes box truck hit my passenger side and took out the mirror and front panels. I'm getting really disgusted with gm. They owe me 696. 00 for my ignition switch I had to replace long before they decided to recall anything. I just want my money back. Thank you.

I hit a bump in the road and my car shut off - keys became stuck in ignition switch. I already had to have my ignition switch repaired, but nobody seems to be able to tell me how to get reimbursed, and I have not received any notification to do so, even though we were told we would receive information about this the first week of April. I have tried to call your contact numbers but always get a run-around and they all say you have to wait until the letter comes out the first week of April. The first week of April has past and I have not received any notification on how to get my reimbursement. I would like for someone to let me know how to get my form for reimbursement.
