The invoice stated, they checked codes, monitored fuel pressure, tested the battery, wiggled and tapped tested the app pcm, ignition wires and relays, etc. And no trouble was found. The vehicle shut down 3 times, on her way home. The consumer returned to the dealer the next day, and asked if the vehicle shutting down had something to do with the original ignition switch being replaced, because it was not shutting down prior to the replacement. After about a year of having my Saturn Ion I was driving on 94 going the normal speed limit when I lost control of my car. My wheel locked up causing me to hot my breaks unable to steer another vehicle ans mine collided at 45-50 mph. My airbags did not deploy. Until now I did not think anything of it until you guys sent me a letter about the recalls on both the ignition switch (if my keys fell out my wheel would lock) and or if my power steering went out I would lose control as well. I never had any previous accidents not even a fender bender. Also when I called about this recall I was told to bring my car in and get it switched for a rental for 6-8 weeks until my car was finished. When ariving there was not a rental available so I was told I would have one within the next 3 days tops. I waited 5 days and called dealership again. I was then told I would be getting a rental from enterprise and because of my long late hours at work the vehicle would be dropped off that evening to come get after work. When ariving there the ball was dropped once again and I did not have a rental. The guy helping me scrambled and found a rental somehow and sent me home in it again stating it would be 6-8 weeks. 4 days later they called me stating I need to bring the rental back because it was sold. After driving all the way there once again and getting my 2nd rental I was called the very next day saying my vehcle was done. I don't understand all the miscommunication and why I had to waste my time and gas money for GMC major screw ups. This recall has upset my enough where im not sure if I will buy a gm vehicle ever again.

2005 Saturn Ion. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle ignition switch recall notice and repairs. In September 2008, the ses light illuminated. The dealer replaced the ignition coil. In June 2011, the ignition switch was replaced. In may 2012, the ignition switch was sticking, and the consumer was unable to remove the key, the ignition switch and tumbler were replaced.
Purchased a 2007 Saturn Ion 2 with 20k and I've had it for less then 2 weeks and driven it about 80 miles or so. The key would not turn completely to turn off the ignition and when I was finally able to force the stuck key out of the ignition it continued running. Faulty ignition switch. The second problem that I had 3 days prior was airbag warning light which is currently being serviced.
#1. Key. In 2008 the key started getting stuck in the ignition when I attempted to turn the car off. The car kept running. It would take up to 10 tries before the engine stopped. Even then I could not always get the key to come out right away. I could not get the key to turn when trying to start the car. The key often would also get stuck in the ignition and I could not get it out and would have to leave it in. 2014 I could not get it to come out at all and at one point the car would not shut off. Mechanic replaced (at my expense) the ignition. #2. When I purchased the car an add on offered was a passive kill switch called id system. Repeatedly the air bag light would come on, and the on-star system also notified me. It would go back off. I took it to the dealer in 2006 and 2007 and was told since the light was not on then that they could not/would not do anything. In 2013 the light was always on. I was also having other electrical problems (see #3). I went to an auto electrical shop. While diagnosing the initial problem the shop found that when the kill switch was put in the company had taken out the relay for the air bag and put the put the id system relay in it's place. The result was that neither worked. The shop pulled out the kill switch relay and replaced the air bag one. Which I paid the bill for. Now the air bag light is starting to come back on at times. I assume the air bag is not working. #3. In 2013 the alarm on the car started going off by its self. That day it went on and off 5 or 6 times till I realized it might be my car. The neighbor said there was no one around it at the time. I don't turn on the alarm. I ended up disconnecting the battery. I took it to the shop (see #2) but since it was not doing it then they could not find the problem. #4 I have never been notified by gm that others were having these problems.
Was driving at a slow speed off an off ramp when my car felt like it stalled and it turned off which I thought it was another cat who hit me because there was no other explanation at the time. It set me in a spin and the car hit the wall but the air bag didn't go off. I ended up in the hospital with an injured back and head. Could it have been the faulty ignition? my car kept stalling after the body repair. I took the car into the dealership in dumber of the same year and my car was diagnosed with a faulty ignition switch. This is not the only incident but thankfully I was just injured and I still have my life.
The contact owns 2003 Saturn Ion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact also stated that the key seized in the ignition and the battery had to be disconnected to shut the vehicle down. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the ignition switch and issued new keys but the failure recurred. There was recall under NHTSA campaign id number 14v047000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 183,000.
