The contact owns a 2004 Saturn Ion. The contact has changed the driver side headlight bulbs 10 times, which prevented the turn signals from working also. Nhtsa campaign id number 04v547000 (exterior lighting:turn signal) was referenced. She was informed that the recall repair was performed prior to the vehicle leaving the manufacturing plant, therefore it was her responsibility. After the contact threatened litigation, general motors repaired the drl jumper kit and the headlights are currently working properly. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 55,000 and failure mileage was 51,200.
Apparent electrical problem has led to failure of left front turn signal on four separate occasions. Manufacturer's authorized dealerships have been unsuccessful in repeated attempts to repair.
Vehicle was serviced 8 times for passenger front service turn signal light. The bulb was replaced, manufacturer sent a representative to inspect the vehicle and nothing was found.
While the vehicle parked while running the vehicle idling high on its own. The driver noticed while driving the vehicle would hesitate and would stalled. The driver tried to restart, but was able to do so. The driver was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer. The mechanic informed the driver that the vehicle was operating as design. (possible valve sticking) when accelerating from stop, the vehicle would hesitate, then take off at a high rate of speed. This would also occur in reverse as well. There were times when accidents would almost occur. There would be high rpm's of 6000 plus. This was an intermittent problem. It was believed to be a problem with the vti transmission. Additional problems: wind noise when sunshade was cracked, turn signal would not cancel on turns and the chime would go off and was an intermittent problems, the driver's side dash seemed loose and or misaligned, and the wipers would not clear the window.
My 2003 Saturn Ion 2 sedan has had at least eight front turn signal or daytime running light bulbs fail since the car was delivered in February 2003. The bulbs in question are manufactured by wagner, and are type 5702. Failure of front turn signal lamps creates the potential for an accident, since oncoming traffic has no indication of my intent to turn. The local dealership has examined the car on three or four occasions, and has found no objective reason for the failure. Replacing the bulb corrects the problem, typically for several months but in several instances for less than a week. The bulbs in question are not available from national parts chains such as napa, advance auto parts, autozone, and pep boys; the only source is a Saturn dealership, which charges approximately $8 for a replacement lamp. I have since experimented with using a sylvania 3157nall, which is apparently identical and is rated for use in daytime running light applications. It functions identically to the oem part, except that it appears to last much longer (it has yet to fail after several months), and is readily available from any automotive parts store for about a quarter of the cost.
By 3500 miles (after 1500mi when we could have returned it), the front passenger turn signal burnt out. The car was also sputtering when we started the engine. The mechanic found a cracked head, that we were told was probably present when we purchased the car; had we known we would've returned the car. We were given a rental car, but had to drive 45 min one way to get to Saturn of green bay. Within a month, the front driver turn signal had burnt out. The wiring was replaced while we waited 2 hrs with our 3 year old. We had to drive 1 hr 1way to Saturn of appleton for repairs. In Aug 2004, the car was making a noise when we turned onto a steep grade. In mi for vacation, we had to drive over 1 hr 1way to Saturn of troy; the swaybar and mounting brackets had to be fixed. We waited for over 2 hrs with our son while it was fixed. In sept 2004, the front passenger side turn signal had to replace the resistor. We drove 1 hr 1 way for the repair, and had to wait 2 hrs with our son. We had asked about the cruise making a funny noise, but it was checked and we were told it was fine. In April 2005, the cruise stopped working and had to be fixed. It took over a week for the part to come in, and almost 2 weeks for it to be repaired at Saturn of green bay. I had to go to the dealer 30 minutes early, be driven over to my school where I teach, walk to my second school I teach at, and wait for a driver to pick me up (20-40 min past when I was done for the day). Despite everything we've been through with a new car that should need minimal care at this point, we've been basically told that we should take the $2600 hit to buy a new car while the dealer breaks even. This is poor salesmanship, and we will not be purchasing Saturn products any longer.
The left front turn signal stopped working, 3 times. The Saturn dealer eventually replaced the wiring harness.
The turn signals working intermittently. The vehicle has been to the dealer on four occasions and the problem keep recurring.
I have had repeated problems with the exterior front lighting on my new 2003 Saturn Ion which is a safety hazard. On 5/15/03 I took the vehicle to the albuquerque Saturn dealership to fix the front driver side running light and left turn signal. They replaced the bulbs, but I had to take it to the dealership again on 7/18/03 after having driven it less than 100 miles for the same problem. This time they replaced the entire headlamp assembly. Then again on 9/29/03 I took it back to the dealership to have the passenger side front running light and turn signal replaced. I talked with the sales manager ben vigil and the service manager justin greenberg. I complained that I've spent more time at the dealership for unscheduled maintenance than routine maintenance, and I was concerned I had bought a lemon. I told them that if my turn signals aren't working properly, that is a safety issue. Mr. Greenberg told me that he probably gets two customers a day with the same problem (which shocked me). He said Saturn has sent out new bulbs to the dealerships which they claim will solve the problem. We'll see.
Electrical; door seals loose; car returned up to 3 times since purchase on 7/13/03. Saturn Ion 3 coupe--turn signals burned out w/in one week of each other; requested check of electrical system. July 26, 2003 electrical system checked. Complained about door seal at same time & service dept did not check it out until they replaced the fuse box on July 31. Requested to return vehicle and was told "it would be fixed to my satisfaction". Door seal was not installed properly & I have to take the car back for a fourth time to get this repaired approximately one week from today.
My turn signals do not work in the front of my car due to a shortage or something and also my car shakes and looses power when I have my air conditioner on.
Turn signal failed and was repaired 4 times within first 7,000 miles of usage.
Right turn signal operates intermittently leaving consumer vulnerable to accident. Dealer was notified.
