Power Steering Pump Problems of Saturn LS

2002 Saturn l300 . Have followed all maint. Guidelines. Though it is on it's third battery, third set of tires, power steering pump replaced, timing belt replaced, ecm replaced, two catalytic converters replaced, the list goes on and on. Less than 90,000 miles. Drove the car. Got out, pushed the keyless alarm ( original factory) got dinner, pushed the keyless entry, got into the car , turned the key. . And the car was dead. Car does not start. Locked in park, had to have it towed. Tow truck driver had to use the dolly lifts to move the car, so he could position it to be able to tow it. Had it towed to a service garage, they followed gm's instructions . . No luck. The car had to be towed again , to a Saturn dealership ( the only ones who have the codes) to reset the vehicle. They told me they could not reset it. Told me it needs a new bcm. Stated ecm and bcm are unable to communicate. So that until the module is replaced the car is inoperable. Stated they knew the bcm's go bad, stated they have had alot of these go bad ( alot)???. The service tech stated " they are like a computer hard drive on steroids" . Stated they burn out with no way to check them or fix them. He said they should be able tofix the car. But they do not keep any bcm in stock. It will be a week before they can get the part. After replacing the bcm I was told the cars information will not be accurate. They told me the odometer goes back to zero. How can that be the dealer just turn back the odometer isn't that illegal? I was told that sometimes there maybe some other issues also after installing a new bcm?? if they know that the bcm is a problem, and that when it goes bad, the car is completely useless! why isn't something being done ! you are at the mercy of Saturn / gm because no one else is allowed to fix the car. I will now be waiting a week for my vehicle to be repaired. Only to hope it runs correctly after it's repaired.

2000 Saturn 4cyl l series:power steering pump, serpentine belt, and idler arm all had to be replaced at 72,000 miles. Parts started to fail at 65,000 miles, makes a noise like the transmission was failing.

While driving power steering pump failed, making it hard for the consumer to turn the steering wheel. Problems with brake lights intermittenly failing. When the headlights are on all three brake lights won't work. Brake light failure almost caused an accident and had me pulled over by a police officer. The mechanic traced out and repaired a ground wire to correct the problem.

Complete failure of power steering pump. Dealer replacement required.

2001 Saturn l200 - started having intermitten "groans" occurring when making left turns (before 50,000 miles), and then over time had intermitten power steering failures for short periods. Power steering pump was replaced today. Symptoms sounded like the 1. 5 million recall gm had for the bearing in their power steering gear assembly I read about in Nov.

While accelerating a clicking noise would appear from the right front of vehicle. Dealer was notified, and informed consumer that power steering needed to be replaced. There is a rattle noise in dash board. Foam tape between clutster and bezel installed. There is a clicking and/or screeching noise while turning left or right and there is vibration coming up through the steering wheel. Dealer replaced all four tires along with rear control arm bushings.

Steering pump failed, causing a loud grinding noise when turning the steering wheel.

2000 l2w model. Power steering pump is leaking possibly causing a groaning sound after 20 minute cold start.

1) car shaking problem: dealer replaced lower control arms (right and left) as well as powe steering pump to remedy problem. Car continues to shake at most speeds. Contacted the manuafcturer, who replied there is nothing else they can do. 2) speedometer: reported problem 4 times to dealership, and dealer claims they cannot duplicate the problem. Speedometer making a "whining" sound at most speeds.

While driving 55 mph or more vehicle would vibrate. Vehicle taken to dealer, consumer was informed that the rear control arm bushing needed to be replaced. Consumer states while driving highway speeds, vehicle vibrates, dealer inspected and found all four tires were out of balance, twice at 17748 and 24575 miles. At 40 mph vehicle pops and jerks into gear, whooshing and grinding noise when braking, hearing a clicking noise when accelerating and dealer found power steering pump bad, auto lock not working properly.

Car is unsafe had tires replaced and power steering pump car shakes at all speeds.

Power steering pump was defective.

The power steering pump was replaced due to noise. And rear mirror view mirror was replaced.
