36 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2010

Safety concern for 2007 Saturn Outlook: low beam head lamp failure due to melted wire connector at bulbs. The wire used for the harness and connection at bulbs is very light gauge and repeatedly burns the wire, bulb, and melts the connector. This causes obvious safety concerns including potential fire hazard. When operating this vehicle during non-daylight hours or in times of poor visibility, drivers must have dependable exterior lighting fixtures. Excluding expired bulbs or negligent maintenance, drivers of this vehicle should not be responsible for the replacement or repair of wiring, connections, and wire harnesses that have failed (sometimes repeatedly) due to the manufacturer's workmanship/design. For the safety of all motorists, the manufacturer of this vehicle should correct the design and/or workmanship causing, or related to, the head lamp failure.

37 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2010

I have a 2007 Saturn Outlook and low beam wiring harness needs replaced on it. Has 37000 miles on it. Just past warranty. Saturn is going out of business and its hard to find parts, especially with Chevrolet and GMC to go see a Saturn dealer, even though the acadia, traverse, Outlook, and enclave are the exact same cars. I think factory warranty should fix this.

38 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2010

My daytime running light are intermittent. Sometimes on and off. Other Saturn Outlook users have also experienced this problem.

39 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2010

2007 Saturn Outlook xr driver's side low beam headlamp is experiencing intermittent operation. Upon personal inspection of the headlamp, there was evidence of an electrical "melt" of the connector wires from the wiring harness to the low beam headlamp. Evidence suggest that this problem stems from a less than sufficient wiring harness installed in this and similar model gm vehicles from 2007 to the present. It is not privy to have a customer pay additional charges to authorized dealers for service on less than adequate parts that were used in the manufacturing of the vehicle. As headlamps are an essential safety issue and necessary for nighttime/unclear weather conditions driving, it is important that this problem be resolved. There have been numerous reports and forums on this model and similar model vehicles experiencing the exact same malfunction with both passenger and drivers' side headlamps being involved. Hopefully this report will lead to an investigation that ultimately results in a necessary and appropriate recall by general motors.

40 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2010

I purchased my 2007 Saturn Outlook brand new. I was told that wiring harness needed to be changed about $1,000. 00. My extended warranty does not cover it because it is over 74,000 miles. I have been reading forums from other Saturn Outlook owners and a lot of them having same problem.

41 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

Passenger side low beam headlamp socket/wiring harness melted. Both (driver side / passenger side) low beam headlamp socket/wiring harness have melted in the past two years. Light bulb was oem bulb and was not burnt out. Nstb needs to issue recall and get gm to replace with more suitable socket/wiring harness.

42 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

Approximately mid-year 2009, the right side low-beam head light went out on my 2007 Saturn Outlook. The bulb was replaced with an after-market bulb but to my surprise, the light went out again within 2-3 weeks. Upon taking the vehicle to the Saturn dealership, the entire right front head light area was replaced as the background wiring had completely melted. The cost was over $500. The vehicle was under warranty at the time, hence there was no cost to me. On Saturday, July 2, 2011 however, the same right side head light went out again. Upon taking the vehicle to the gm dealership on Wednesday July 6, 2011, I am now told that the coils have completely melted again and the cost this time to me is $212. This is absolutely ridiculous! this has got to be a manufacturer defect as I am concerned with what is actually getting so very hot that is melting the coils. I am more concerned that this type of heat could potentially cause a fire. Something must be done to prevent an unnecessary tragedy/accident.
