Saturn Outlook owners have reported 8 problems related to air bag on-off switch (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Saturn Outlook based on all problems reported for the Outlook.
At approximately 100,000 miles the service air bag light started to illuminate on the dashboard. Furthermore, the passenger airbag is always switched off regardless if there is someone in the passenger seat or not. Brought to dealer in June 2015 with mileage of 101,806. It is giving code b0081-of stating there is an internal fault in passenger presence sensor. Approximate cost to fix was around ~$1000. Declined fixing it at this time as I had already spent $2500 in other repairs. This is obviously an ongoing issue with many of these cars and is a huge safety concern. . . . Not just wear and tear. Please look into these airbag concerns.

2007 Saturn Outlook. Consumer requests air bag on-off switch for vehicle due to a medial condition.
Passenger side air bag, seat switch or whatever intermittent for along while. Worked most of time. Now has 100000 on it. Took in Jan. 24, 2015, for recall on connector did not fix, now does not work at all. At least before I took it in it worked most of the time. Now get message service air bag, and the passenger side light on most of the time. Talked to Saturn customer service, just got run around and no help.

In April 2014, my passenger airbag light indicator begin to read: "off" while the passenger was in the seat. Sometimes it says "on" at first, then switches to "off". Very few times has it worked properly since April. (now August 1st). Took it to the dealer for the side airbag recall and was hoping it was related to the passenger seat. . The service advisor indicated it was a totally separate issue. Cost to just check it cost me $105. 3 hours later, the advisor informed me it would cost over $500 or more to replace. I declined. Seems like gm would include this as a recall, especially to those with vehicles indicating "off". Knowing you don't have a primary airbag that doesn't deploy, I would think this would be an extremely high risk issue and would be on the top of gm's list of recalls?.
Took a trip out of town this weekend and started noticing the transmission slipping when switching gears which activated the check engine light. Thankfully made it home before it got worse. Next day drove it around the block and was slipping all over the place. Pulled over to my house and parked. Turned off, turned back on. Tried to go in reverse and was unable as if in neutral. Still can go forward but major slippage. Doing research this is a very common issues with these vehicles. This page alone has 100+ and 10+ in the last month. Gm and NHTSA need to realize this issue and get that recall going!.
The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that the service air bag warning indicator was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the passenger presence switch and control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
I own a 2007 Saturn Outlook. The front passenger airbag does not work properly. Not always engaging when a passenger over 100 lbs is sitting in the seat. Sometimes the airbag light switches back and forth from on to off and then usually stays off. After turning the vehicle off and restarting, or having the passenger jump up and down on the seat, it may engage the airbag, but not always. This also concerns me the seatbelt tension is triggered based on the airbag bag light being on or off. When the airbag light is off, and the passenger unbuckles the seatbelt, the seatbelt warning light is not engaged! we have had this problem since we purchased the vehicle new. The Saturn dealer could not locate the problem and said to bring it back when it happens again. Each time they tell us it is working, although we have taken multiple photos to show it does not work properly. It appears there was a recall for the front airbags, however nothing was received for my vehicle (VIN). This is a major safely issue and needs to be corrected before an accident happens.
My 2007 Outlook xr leaks water inside of it and is messing up the electrical stuff in it. It has started telling me to have the airbag serviced, so now I am worried that it will either randomly go off or not go off when it is supposed to. It has told me that my car was over heated when I have just started it. It has continued to keep running when I have turned the key off and removed it from the ignition switch. I have read several other complaints on the internet from other owners. Edmunds website has several complaints on there that you can read. I have contacted general motor over this matter because the water leaking in is from factory defects. Other owners have taken their Outlooks in to the general motors service centers numerous times and their Outlooks continue to leak. I had the top of my Outlook covered with plastic and water still leaked in when it rained. I vacuumed 6 gallons of water out of it and could not get all of the water out, which is going to lead to it molding and mildewing. Something needs to be done to pull these unsafe vehicles off the road.
