36 Body problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 10/05/2012

Water leak from sunroof traveled down the driver's pillar and through the dash, onto the floor. This caused an electrical shortage which caused the emergency brake warning bell to sound. Water was also leaking out of the curtain airbag badge on the pillar potentially compromising the airbag. Water soaked the driver's carpet and mats. Now the dashboard indicator light for rpm is operating sporadically.

The contact owns a 2009 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle would not accelerate over 30 mph. There was also mold and water under the front driver and passenger sides of the floorboard carpet. The mechanic stated the fuse box would have to be replaced and the wiring harness would have to be cleaned. The carpet would also need to be replaced. Prior to the failure, the contact noticed a strong fishy odor in the vehicle, which also stalled. 39 Body problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 04/24/2012

1) car no longer shifts out of first gear (automatic transmission). 2) car continues to run for up to 30 seconds when the key is removed. Dealer states that a water leak beginning at the sunroof leaks water onto the fuse area in the engine compartment causing failures requiring a fuse box replacement. The vehicle has had leaks leaving water on the headliner, front seats, front driver and front passenger floors in the past all repaired by the dealer under warranty. Dealer charges so far are $500 to repair the leak, $500 to replace the fusebox, and still not sure any of those repairs have resolved the two initial issues.

40 Body problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 04/18/2012

I noticed my Outlook leaking water 3 mos. After I bought it. The airbags on passenger side stopped working. The car would not shut off in the garage. The dealer states its a leak that has allowed water to ruin the electronics all over the vehicle. This is a problem all over the internet. No one can fix it. They have 7 tech bulletins. . . Still no fix. The dealership wants 1500. 00 to "start" looking into the problem. Please help me! I can't drive a moldy car with intermittent airbags and possible power steering malfunction with my kids in the car! this will bankrupt me. What do I do?? no one online has found a solution. . . Just 1000's of dollars and scary situations on the road (defrost blowers breaking, losing power steering, engine quitting, water dumping on their laps). Please make them recall this or help us fix it!.

41 Body problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 03/02/2012

My 2008 Saturn Outlook (w/sunroof) engine continues to run with key off position (see gm bulletin #08-08-57-003c [seam seal] dated July 15, 2011) water leak at a-pillar caused various electrical problems such as engine continues to run with key off/possible no crank/no start/communication loss/various electrical concerns, which was the result of a water leak on the ip bec from the sunroof drain hose that exits through the vehicle at the plenum and re-enter through the "unsealed seam at the front of the dash". This can effect 2007-2010 Outlook; 2007-2012 GMC acadia; 2008-2012 Buick enclave. Gm only covers this to 3 yrs/36k mile warranty then gm requires owner to pay $400 to repair their engineering defect. . .

42 Body problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 06/30/2011

2008 Saturn Outlook xr. Has been in the shop seven times over three years for water leak. Have had sunroof serviced multiple times, leaking body seam along firewall supposedly repaired, electrical short circuit repaired due to water, front carpets replaced. The carpets are still wet and the vehicle is still leaking.

43 Body problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 04/11/2011

My 2007 Outlook xr leaks water inside of it and is messing up the electrical stuff in it. It has started telling me to have the airbag serviced, so now I am worried that it will either randomly go off or not go off when it is supposed to. It has told me that my car was over heated when I have just started it. It has continued to keep running when I have turned the key off and removed it from the ignition switch. I have read several other complaints on the internet from other owners. Edmunds website has several complaints on there that you can read. I have contacted general motor over this matter because the water leaking in is from factory defects. Other owners have taken their Outlooks in to the general motors service centers numerous times and their Outlooks continue to leak. I had the top of my Outlook covered with plastic and water still leaked in when it rained. I vacuumed 6 gallons of water out of it and could not get all of the water out, which is going to lead to it molding and mildewing. Something needs to be done to pull these unsafe vehicles off the road.

44 Body problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 06/17/2010

During rain, the water enters the car from the driver side a pillar and passenger side a pillar where is connects to the roof and at the floor, causing carpet to wet. Visiting various gm dealership, I have not found a solution to the issue, that can get the issue fixed.

45 Body problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 09/30/2008

2008 Saturn Outlook xr w/dual sunroofs leaks water through inside corner pillars, which house seat belt and air bags. The water could compromise the effectiveness of the air bags and the seatbelt retractors. It will also leak onto drivers floor, through electronic components, which could cause loss of functions. Multiple reports have been made. Many owners have reported as many as 6 or more visits to have the condition corrected under warranty, to no avail. Gm apparently stonewalls complainants until the warranty has expired, and refuses to find a permanent fix for this problem. Problem has been ongoing in Saturn Outlook and other similar gm models since 2007. Water enters the roof, and runs to the lowest corner of the vehicle, depending on how it is parked. Although Saturn is now defunct, there remain many of these vehicles in use. Gm should be required to develop a permanent fix, and recall all potentially affected vehicles to correct this dangerous ongoing condition.
