1 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 03/06/2019

When starting the stabilitrak light comes on and the buzzer goes off, then the check engine lights flickers off and on. This causes a rough idle like a misfire . I have had plugs and coil packs replaced as well as shocks and struts. Error still remains. Mechanic says one issue triggers the other. Have seen 100's of other similar complaints on full size gm trucks and other suvs. Hopefully soon a recall issue.

2 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 02/14/2019

Issues with my Outlook alternator caught engine on fire, electrical issues with stabilizer/tracking controls, windows/mirror and mainly check engine light comes on while driving and transmission slips into low or 2nd gear. I had to pull to emergency lane and have vehicle towed twice. Dealer states its an issue with obd/obi codes and clears code. Vehicle continues to do this almost daily, weekly. Water leaks through sunroof, front window glass, under dash on feet of driver and passenger; water leaks via dvd system while driving and stationary. Alternator caught on fire while driving and I coasted into a driveway and lifted hood the flames started, fire dept. Contacted immediately to put out. Damage to vehicle wires, tubes, etc under hood. Passenger side front window and mirror will not push out of roll down due to electrical issue driving and stationary. Recall on struts for auto lift gate, but real issue is module to lift liftgate was a fee to be repaired. What did recall cover with lift gate? these issues happen no stop since 2012 when vehicle was purchased used. I drove on interstate and and check engine light came on, transmission went to low gear and I almost was hit because vehicle jerked when this happened and power/speed instantly dropped.

3 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 09/30/2016

Engine light was coming on & off. After a couple days, the Outlook had a loss of power. Had it checked & was told we had a timing issue with the 3 timing chains. The chains were stretched & one of the timing chain gears was one tooth off. They needed to be replaced. I was also told that there was a recall on the 2007-2009 Saturn Outlooks for the same problem but the 2010 models were not included. Why wouldn't the 2010 models be included? the loss of power happened on 9/30/16. Check engine light was coming on & off just a couple days prior to the loss of power.

4 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 03/30/2015

Issues with the 2007 Saturn oulook include ongoing electrical issues (lights intermittent functioning, stabilitrack, traction control and abs lights on intermittently, remote start doesn't work, power lift gate opens on it's own, lift gate switch failed internally), air intake filled with oil and water mix, water under fuel induction service, intermittently the stabilitrack will turn off, message saying 'engine power reduced', car shakes, no power and requires coasting to side of road. (this particular issue is temporarily addressed by turning the car off, removing the keys, opening the door, waiting five minutes. Then the car starts but check engine light remains on. ) required new throttle body, replacing struts, sway bar link, shot and/or strut assembly. Rack and pinion, tie rods needed to be replaced. Most recently having difficulties with hard shifting, cel and traction control lights on, intake boot full of oil, vehicle will not shift out of 1st gear until 4000rmp's and does the same thing on highway in 2nd gear.

5 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 02/23/2015

-25 f, 2 hours away from home, 7 pm at night, two kids in the car, and treacherous road conditions ~ transmission fails !!!! was in the shop less then two weeks prior for check engine light & service stabilitrak/traction control warnings. Gm dealer cleared lights & said they were historic & nothing to worry about. This problem is widespread & it isn't hundred of cars affected, its thousands and probably tens of thousands (as these transmissions plague the Outlooks, acadias, traverses, & enclaves). So far gm is doing nothing ~ apparently it takes people dying to issue major recalls, and even then it takes many years and investigations by various agencies. Unacceptable and criminal !!!! I have opened up a case with gm corporate to see if anything will be done to offset or even cover the cost of replacing the junk transmission ($3800) ~ but, after reading countless blogs, webpages, ect of other peoples experiences with gm, I am not holding my breath. I will certainly jump on the class action lawsuit wagon, if it exists, or when it does come to fruition !!! this is certainly the last gm product I will ever buy! furthermore, I will take to social media and any other place I can to tell my story and make sure others know about these cars and the "service" that gm provides.

6 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 07/05/2014

On Saturday July 5, 2014, while traveling n/b on I-81 in virginia my 2007 Saturn Outlook xr suddenly began to lose power to the engine. At the time, I was in the left lane and going approximately 70 mph. At no time did any check engine light or other service indicator come on. Fortunately I was able to steer the vehicle over to the right shoulder before it completely stopped. After about 30 minutes on the shoulder the vehicle lost all electrical power. I had my wife and 3 kids (8yr, 6yr and 3 month old) in the car when this happened. It took an hour for the tow truck to get to us. We loaded the car seats and all of us into the tow truck and were towed to a mechanics shop in front royal, va. Since all shops were closed at that time, we had to leave our car and went to a hotel. On Monday July 7th, we were told it would be at least a few days until they figured out what went wrong. I rented a car and drove home to NJ. On Thursday July 10th, the mechanic shop called and said the engine was completely shot due to a missing valve cover inside the engine, 1 of the catalytic converters not working and multiple pistons failing. On July 24th the car was finally picked up and transported to another mechanic by my residence. The next day that shop called with the same diagnosis and said I needed a new engine. I had to purchase a new engine from gm for $5,000. That purchase with labor and tax will cost me $7,500. This whole breakdown ended up costing me approx. $9,000 total and I am still waiting to get my car back. The vehicle has been in my family since it was purchased and had all the recommended tune ups/recalls performed. It bothers me that gm puts families at risk by not addressing this issue. Breaking down on the side of the highway puts people in dangerous situations. Gm should own up to this problem and take all appropriate action to prevent a potential tragedy.

8 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 12/23/2013

3 weeks ago the dealership replaced my ecm because the check engine light came on and the vehicle was stalling. On Monday, my husband talked to the dealership because it started not shifting properly. They said due to the holiday they couldn't see us until Thursday. Within minutes if the conversation, the vehicle stopped shifting all together. . . No check engine light; nothing. Using onstar, we have it towed to the dealership. Tuesady we receive a call and are told it is $1600 to replace a "ball" in the transmission. Oops, they forgot the tax in the first quote; now $1800! we get a loan to have it fixed. Thursday we receive a call and now there are metal shavings in our fluid they didn't see before and it is going to be $4300 for a re-manufactured transmission. The service agent at one point laughed at me and said to do the minimu repair and trade it in for a new vehicle!! our warranty just expired in June, the vehicle has less than 60,000 and this is the second time in less than 30 days it has been in! as active duty military, we cannot afford $4300 to fix it but also cannot be without a vehicle!!.

9 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 12/04/2013

Power train warranty expired 11/1/13 and now my Outlook won't go reverse, 3rd or 5th, check engine light illuminated, I'll take it tomorrow to the dealer and find out if it's the same problem everyone has been having with the tcm or if it's the reverse clutch plate (waved). I also have the other common problem with the leaky sunroof, water comes down the driver floor board by the parking brake. This is my first gm and it looks to me like it's going to be my last. I'm going back to Toyota! I wish I had known all of these problems, I would had never bought this SUV if I knew this info exist online, live and learn! I can't believe gm knowingly allows these problems go on and won't do anything to correct it.

10 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

Without warning, I left a parking lot and my car seemed very sluggish. I noticed that it would not shift out of 1st gear. The check engine light came on, so I pulled over and killed the engine. I let it sit a few minutes and started the engine again. I had the same problem as I accelerated to go down the road. I didn't know what to do, so we called a wrecker and had it hauled to the transmission place. They called and told me the transmission would have to be rebuilt and the computer inside the transmission replaced and programmed. These repairs totaled just over $3,000. I am so angry because I have read on a Saturn forum that this is a pretty common problem. I don't understand why gm won't do the right thing and recall the transmission. This is ridiculous to have this type problem on a 5-6 year old vehicle.

11 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 08/11/2013

I was driving to church on Aug. 11, 2013 with my 3 year old and 11 year old niece and nephew. The car was running fine. Went down a hill and the car was having problems with the gas and then the check engine light came on. I was at a stop sign and I was turning right. The rpms went up like I was going really fast and then realized I was not getting the gas I should have been getting. I had to stop in the middle of the road with a car behind me and turn around. I was so nervous I didn't know if any other car was coming because I could barely go in reverse. I was able to get the car back home by going 40 mph with the rpms between 4 and 5. It was by the grace of god that I was able to return home safely.

12 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 05/22/2013

It jerks really hard around 50-60mph about 10 times a week. About every other day, within the first quarter mile from my beginning destination, and before reaching a speed of 30mph, my 07 Outlook jerks really hard, the check engine light comes on, and it will not shift down.

13 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 04/23/2013

I just purchased the vehicle. I went out of town with this vehicle and had to stop at some place I didn't know. They hooked the vehicle and found out it was a cylinder misfire. Within the first 2 weeks of purchasing the vehicle the check engine light came on. When found it out was a cylinder misfire I tried calling the dealership and letting them know what happened with the car. The place that checked cleared the service light. Less than two weeks later went to dealership and was informed that they would not check it because the light wasn't on. In July, a few months of having the vehicle than I had the stability track come on as well as the brake light. Went to dealership and they checked and told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it but the brake fluid was half empty. They put some brake fluid in vehicle and told me to go to gm. Gm told me that it was the master booster cylinder without looking at the vehicle and told me it would be like almost $700 to fix it. So less than two weeks go by and I drove the vehicle and it was having a hard time before this with the car getting some gas. Beginning of Aug, I start driving it to church and the check engine light came on and the car was barely moving. It was in rpms of 4-5 and I was only going 60 mph, trying too. I had my niece and nephew in the car and they new something was wrong with the car. The car would barely go in reverse at this time. Now the car will not go in reverse at all. The car has only 55,654 miles on it. This is a safety issue and needs to be fixed and recalled.

14 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 05/12/2012

Issue began as a jerky movement in reverse. A few days later, high engine rpms were noticed during acceleration which eventually led to the check engine light being lit and the transmission being disengaged. No gears were operating and car was able to be pulled off the main roads with no incidents. Many online forums describe a similar issue with the GMC acadia, Chevrolet traverse, and Buick enclave as well and across several model years for each vehicle. . Read more...

15 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2009 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 10/14/2010

Check engine light came on while driving and veh immediately lost power. Could not drive over 30mph, and engine began smoking. Dealer stated fuel injector was "dumping gas". (guess that would explain the bad gas mileage). Fuel injector and catalytic converter changed. 5 months later check engine came on again at 44,000mi. Dealer states compression problem with fuel injector. The fuel injector was replaced again, but now the dealer is saying there is also a problem with cam shaft. My veh is still in the shop as of today, so I am still not sure if the problem has been resolved.
