Transmission slipping and high engine rev during commute from work to home. Could not get over 40 mph and had to take side streets home. Was fearful that it would not make it !.

Same kind of story as that of many others. On the road, the Outlook's transmission began to slip and engine rev went high before the next shift. One difference is that in our case, we were driving home from a hospital, hours after my wife's sister died there that day. We did not need that. For the record, the dealer quoted $3750 to fix or offered $3000 in trade toward another car. Haven't decided yet. We have other things on our mind. The funeral is Wednesday.

While driving the transmission started slipping and had gone completely out. The cost to repair this will be around 3500 dollars. This is absurd considering how new the car is.
The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission began to slip gears with severe hesitation without warning. The vehicle failed to accelerate over 35 mph. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who recommended that the transmission be rebuilt. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 60,365. Updated 2/11/cn according to the invoice, the reverse waveplate was broken. Updated 02/18/14.
Took a trip out of town this weekend and started noticing the transmission slipping when switching gears which activated the check engine light. Thankfully made it home before it got worse. Next day drove it around the block and was slipping all over the place. Pulled over to my house and parked. Turned off, turned back on. Tried to go in reverse and was unable as if in neutral. Still can go forward but major slippage. Doing research this is a very common issues with these vehicles. This page alone has 100+ and 10+ in the last month. Gm and NHTSA need to realize this issue and get that recall going!.
Thought this was a good deal just purchased on 11/4/13. With a 100,000 mile warranty. Yeah right have had nothing but trouble since I drove it. And they told me they fixed all the problems. Today is the 13th they told me to take it out of town on my planned trip and see how it does. The farther we drove the worse the transmission kept slipping. So on the 12th I took it back in and the service dept. Told me they are limited on what they can fix on a used car even under warranty. And my airbag service light came on and they couldn't fix that told me I would have to take it to another dealership and they could fix that out of my pocket cost. Something needs to be done with these vehicles before somebody gets seriously hurt! somebody please help me what can I do. .
Vehicle transmission slips when shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear.
The transmission was replaced by gm at 80,000 miles with a new gm transmission. I know have 156000 miles on the car and the transmission is slipping again in 3rd gear. The tech is telling me that there is a plate in there that usually breaks on theses cars, to rebuild it is 2600, or a new transmission is 3500. The car has less than 80,000 miles on the new transmission and the same thing is happening again.
Transmission problems and slipped going into 3rd gear and revved, would not shift up to 4th gear and we were in the middle of a busy highway. Had to pull into a parking lot and check things out. Parked and checked it out. Once we were done tried to back out and no reverse also. Took it to get the error codes read and found p0776 (3-5-r wave plate).
Vehicle's transmission suddenly lost traction. Driving my child to school and suddenly the vehicle's transmission slipped and would not run. Was caught in the middle of an intersection with 5 year old and baby on board. Thankfully oncoming traffic saw us and slowed down to go around us.
Vehicle was attempting to accelerate onto interstate highway. Transmission began to slip and buck causing the car to loose power dangerously in traffic. Turns out this is known problem with transmission 3-5-r wave plate breaking and occurs almost always around 70-100k mileage. Based on my research the wave plate breakage is not a question of if but when? I cannot fathom why gm would not get ahead of this problem. I cant believe issues like ignition get national attention but an issue like the transmission is overlooked.
Transmission slipped very badly switching from second to third gear. Thankfully was in a populated area close to home and was able to limp into a parking lot. Once put in park, would no longer shift out of park and had to be flat towed to a garage.
Transmission slips and car bucks, shutters, and skips at a rpm at around 1400-1600 rpm's.

Vehicle's transmission started slipping a day before the incident. My wife was driving my 4 year old son home from daycare when the transmission stopped working. The vehicle would not move forward or backwards. About 28000 miles later the transmission has started slipping again. We no longer feel safe driving this vehicle.
8/17/2011 - j0511 head, cylinder left bank replaced as there was excessive play in camshafts r & r motor assy replace bank 2 cylinder head and new timing chain re-installed. 01/11/2012 - 3-5 reverse clutch plate replaced transmission slipping into 3rd gear, transmission rebuilt. 02/20/2012 leak was found in front transmission connector area, seal was replaced & rechecked. On 12/01/2012 truck going back into shop for transmission leak again and clunking noise. Gm needs to resolve this problem with the transmission, they need to stand behind their product and go ahead and resolve this issue immediately.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Outlook. While turning the vehicle, the contact heard a loud popping sound in the steering column. She also experienced gear slippage. On one occasion, while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the transmission and steering column. Several weeks after the repair, the failure resurfaced. She took the vehicle back to the dealer and they replaced the coolant lines. Immediately after the repair, the transmission failed again. The vehicle is in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer would not assist. The failure mileage was 1,600 and current mileage was 50,000.
I own a 2008 Saturn Outlook, since new vehicle has had a problem with the transmission. It over revs while in the passing mode and doesn't down shift until you completely take your foot off the gas. When accelerating sometimes it takes seconds before accelerating making it dangerous to merge into traffic. Recently it feels like the transmission is slipping when you accelerate to go a up a hill. I have taken it to the dealer numerous times and all they say is all the computer codes are correct and they can't duplicate the problem,so there's nothing wrong with the vehicle. I emailed Saturn this week and they stated they contacted the dealer and were told the codes are up to date and they are unable to duplicated the problem,so I accomplished nothing. I guess they'll wait until the transmission blows up or the vehicle is out of warranty before they take any action. From the blogs I have read on the internet this is a common problem with this vehicle and Saturn tells everyone the same thing. I feel this is a problem with the vehicle and the consumer is going to be stuck with the cost of repairs on this vehicle unless the us government intervenes. My vehicle only has 8,769 miles on it and the problem has been there since it was new.
