Service air bag light coming on. Known issue about passenger airbag sensor in seat.
Hvac blower motor stopped working via the control knob. Through online forums & repair guides, I did some troubleshooting to determine which component I might need to order (I. E. Fuse, relay, blower motor assembly, blower resistor, etc). During that research, many others noted that the blower resistor is known to become defective, and that melting of the resistor & the harness connector are common. This is exactly the situation I found, and it is not at all unreasonable to conclude that this could have easily resulted in a fire. These same parts are shared by the pontiac solstice and the hummer h3 (for which, I believe, a recall was issued). The parts to fix this problem are not overly expensive & readily available -- and the replacement process is not difficult. What is difficult is to think this is a known problem which can (& has) caused vehicle fires, and yet no recall or official notice has been issued to warn vehicle owners.
The Saturn Skys have the same electrical problem that the hummers did that were recalled under NHTSA campaign number: 15v421000. The resistor on the blower motor gets hot and melts. Further, they are the same parts. . Read more...

After a gm ignition recall on Saturn Sky--we received notice and took our car to the gm shop to do the work. However now the "airbag warning light" stays on---we did much research and replaced the passenger side seat cushion and sensor-----this did not result in the airbag warning light going off--we took it to the gm dealer to do a diagnostic to see why the seat/sensor replacement did not fix the problem and they state the seat is properly installed and it is not causing the airbag warning light issue---but they did not tell us what was the diagnosed problem. Many Saturn Sky owners have written to you and are very concerned about the safety of their families, the fact they cannot pass state required safety inspections; which renders their gm product completely useless. Gm has never responded to these issues for Saturn Sky owners or for pontiac solstice owners and the NHTSA likewise have not responded to this dangerous issue, despite numerous complaints. Many other air bag issues have been addressed by your board for a variety of vehicles---why not this one? I will be approaching my state and federal representatives with this concern as well; it is a public safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately. My husband has also written to the NHTSA has never responded. Will you respond now?.
Typical engineered problems @ low mileage: seat air bag sensor, dash info lights, check engine light and extremely noisy ac system. A recall would be nice, but the car is an orphan. (a discontinued vehicle, with little support. ) safe at any speed ?.
Service airbag light is on. This is a known problem with other Sky owners. I have not heard about a recall from gm, even though gm has recalls for the same part on other models.

Passenger seat airbag warning light stays off, does not go to on position when seat is occupied. Service airbag soon warning light appears on instrument panel. Had system diagnosed , found that the pass. Seat presence module is faulty. And needs to be replaced,. This is a critical safety issue and not, an isolated issue with these vehicles and should be recalled by gm and replaced at no cost to me. Please do the right thing and correct this issue!!.

I received notice that my vehicle had been recalled and contacted my dealer "airport Chevrolet" in medford oregon for an appointment to get it repaired. It has now been about two months and the dealer is still claiming that they have not received the necessary parts. It seems to me that general motors is dragging their feet, two months is longer than it takes to receive a special order car.

Service air bag warning is activated due to a defective sensor which results in air bag not functioning properly or being deployed in the event of an accident. This is an obvious safety concern that should be addressed by recall.
Everytime I start my vehicle I get the following messages on the control panel. Service airbag, service traction control, esc off/disabled. There has been no accidents on the vehicle but lack of esc makes controlling the rwd performance vehicle difficult, in addition the service airbag message is further reason for concern.
The passenger presence sensor light has been on for awhile. It had been 'fixed' once before when the vehicle was under warranty. The exact same sensor went out several months after warranty expiration June 2012). Concerned because this faulty (disabled) sensor will not deploy passenger-side airbag in an accident.
