3 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn SKY

Failure Date: 06/18/2021

Hvac blower motor stopped working via the control knob. Through online forums & repair guides, I did some troubleshooting to determine which component I might need to order (I. E. Fuse, relay, blower motor assembly, blower resistor, etc). During that research, many others noted that the blower resistor is known to become defective, and that melting of the resistor & the harness connector are common. This is exactly the situation I found, and it is not at all unreasonable to conclude that this could have easily resulted in a fire. These same parts are shared by the pontiac solstice and the hummer h3 (for which, I believe, a recall was issued). The parts to fix this problem are not overly expensive & readily available -- and the replacement process is not difficult. What is difficult is to think this is a known problem which can (& has) caused vehicle fires, and yet no recall or official notice has been issued to warn vehicle owners.

Failure Date: 09/16/2016

My cars air bag light came on I took it to the dealer and it would not pass state inspection due to the passenger module sensor. I had to pay over 900 dollars to get it fixed. I have heard multiply people complaining about the same issue. Therefore I think there should be a recall. I did nothing to cause this failure to happen yet I am responsible to pay for it.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn SKY

Failure Date: 05/04/2016

After a gm ignition recall on Saturn Sky--we received notice and took our car to the gm shop to do the work. However now the "airbag warning light" stays on---we did much research and replaced the passenger side seat cushion and sensor-----this did not result in the airbag warning light going off--we took it to the gm dealer to do a diagnostic to see why the seat/sensor replacement did not fix the problem and they state the seat is properly installed and it is not causing the airbag warning light issue---but they did not tell us what was the diagnosed problem. Many Saturn Sky owners have written to you and are very concerned about the safety of their families, the fact they cannot pass state required safety inspections; which renders their gm product completely useless. Gm has never responded to these issues for Saturn Sky owners or for pontiac solstice owners and the NHTSA likewise have not responded to this dangerous issue, despite numerous complaints. Many other air bag issues have been addressed by your board for a variety of vehicles---why not this one? I will be approaching my state and federal representatives with this concern as well; it is a public safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately. My husband has also written to the NHTSA has never responded. Will you respond now?.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn SKY

11 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Saturn SKY

Failure Date: 07/06/2015

This is in reference to the faulty air bag sensor in the seats of the Saturn Sky's and pontiac solstice. A known defect in the air bag sensor in the seats is leading to an expensive fix for gm owners. The "service air bag" light illuminates due to a faulty craftsmanship in the seat sensor. This could possibly cause the airbag system to not function properly. It is a widespread problem with these cars and really started to take place for a lot of people after the ignition recall. The replacement part and labor is costing around $900 for the repair of one seat when the parts can be ordered form germany for around $80. Gm knows and really needs to address this issue before this malfunction causes some type of bodily harm.

12 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn SKY

13 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn SKY

2007 Saturn Sky. Consumer writes in regards to ignition key defect recall. The consumer stated he had problems removing the key the from the ignition. The defect was eventually fixed.

14 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn SKY

Failure Date: 02/20/2015

The air bag warning light is on at all times and "service air bag" appears in the driver information center and must be cleared after each start. The issue has been determined to be a faulty passenger presence sensor located in the bottom of the passenger seat. This has now rendered the passenger airbag inoperative at all times and possibly affects the safe operation of the entire srs system. After doing some research online, this is a very, very common problem with the Saturn Skys and pontiac solstices. It is very expensive to fix (around $800-$1000 for parts and labor) and apparently the replacement part has an equally short life expectancy and seems to develop the exact same problem for most of those that have replaced it thus far (according to research done online). This creates a very dangerous situation particularly since these 2 seat cars are quite small with plastic body components therefore making the airbags a necessity in a collision. Gm, as well as their dealers are very aware of this problem but appear to be doing nothing to remedy the situation. Clearly it is NHTSA's duty to force their hand and make them recall these cars and replace these parts with a redesigned part that will work properly and that has an acceptable service life!.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn SKY

Failure Date: 07/07/2014

The purpose of this e-mail is to notify you of problems I'm experiencing trying to get the recall accomplished on my Sky. I've called scholfield (the designated repair dealer for my area) multiple times and am getting a run around. They tell me they can't get the parts and it will be 6-8 weeks before they expect a delivery. I'm wanting to put out a notice that if there is an issue with this car while waiting for an inexpensive defective part, there may be other outcomes, most assuredly undesirable. Whatever can be done, needs to be done as this vehicle is a potential threat on the roads and that is not due to my persistence in trying to get the mandated recall done. According to the letter, "you should contact your gm dealer to arrange a service appointment as soon as possible. " I have tried to do this on numerous occasions, only to be put off by the service department. Any assistance you could offer would be much appreciated as this doesn't seem to be a priority for the dealership.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn SKY

Failure Date: 05/05/2014

I received notice that my vehicle had been recalled and contacted my dealer "airport Chevrolet" in medford oregon for an appointment to get it repaired. It has now been about two months and the dealer is still claiming that they have not received the necessary parts. It seems to me that general motors is dragging their feet, two months is longer than it takes to receive a special order car.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn SKY

Failure Date: 04/29/2014

I have a Saturn Sky in the recall and it's my understanding we can get a loaner for free while we wait for parts to come in. Orr Chevrolet in texarkana said all they have to loan is cobalts, and this concerns me for obvious reasons. I asked if he knew those are also recalled and he laughed and said yes but that's all they got. I suggested they take a vehicle off their used sales lot that isn't made by gm but they can't do that. Obviously I didn't take the even less safe cobalt and I'm still driving my Sky, but I'm concerned that they're offering the most deadly car of them all and that other drivers may end up taking them, possibly for months.
