Front Seat Recliner Problems of Saturn SL2

During a rear end collision the back of the driver's seat released to full recline position. Leaving me which more severe injuries than I should have sustained.

After leaving a traffic light, I had to stop suddenly because the car in front of me stopped for a stalled car in the lane of traffic we were traveling. The car behind me also stopped. The car behind this car collided with the car behind me causing it to collide with my car which was then pushed into the car in front of me. My car was sandwiched between the cars involved in the accident. The hinges of the driver's seat gave way causing the seat to move to the reclining position. I was not injured but the seat could not be placed in driving position. This kind of action could lead to serious injury and should be investigated.

: the contact stated the two front seats failed when the vehicle was in an accident, and both the driver and the passenger reclined. The vehicle was deemed totaled and the insurance company determined the front seat recliner was a manufacturer defect. Both the driver and the passenger were injured as a result.

Our 99 Saturn Sl2 sedan was involved in a 3 car accident. The Saturn was first rear ended by another vehicle first at about 45 mph, then slammed into a car in front of our car which was stopped. The seat back broke (to the recline position). Further the air bags did not deploy. Luckily the seat belts were being worn at the time of the accident, and no injuries occurred.

While driving 15 mph the vehicle was involved a rear end collision. Upon impact the driver seat collapsed without warning. The driver sustained neck and back injuries. Please provide any additional information.

We were stopped at a red light, when another vehicle rear ended us. Our 22-month old son was in his car seat in the rear, behind the passenger seat. After our vehicle was hit, the seat latch on the front passenger seat released. The seat fully reclined, striking our son in the face. He suffered broken bones in his face as a result. If the seat latch had not released, he would not have been injured during the crash.

Vehicle was involved in a chain reaction accident that caused seat back to collapse. Dealer has not been contacted at this time. Ak.

Consumer stated the bench seats collapsed during a front end collision, the collapsed seat pushed consumers child into back of the front seat, dealer has been contacted. Nlm.

Consumer was involved in an accident where the seatbacks broke, 2 people were injured in the accident.

Driver's and passenger seat back fell back when rear ended by another vehicle which was going about 35 mph, which may have caused injuries. Please provide further information.

Vehicle rear ended while at a complete stop. Drivers' side seat back let go, and seat belt released, causing driver to be thrown forward and backwards. This was a low impact collision,and no injury would have occurred if seat and belt had held up during collision.

I was struck in the rear of my car which caused both front bucket seats to snap to a full recline position. As a result of laying flat on my back I could not take any evasive action. Both front airbags deployed upon impact. I have suffered severe back injuries.

During vehicle collision seat latch failed causing seat back to collapse resulting in injury to the driver loosing sight of the road therefor loosing control of the vehicle.

Vehicle was rear ended. Defect within seatback of driver's and passenger's side caused the seat to collapse backwards, resulting in minor injuries.

Vehicle was involved in an accident on 27-Jul-97. Was hit from behind. As a result, air bags didn't deploy, and driver's and passenger's seatback collapsed, causing the seats to fully recline.

Vehicle was in a rear end collision and the driver's/passenger's seats fell back into children's faces ,and the children were injured. Dealer has been contacted.

While being driven 40 mph, the owner noticed a vehicle driving erratic and slammed on the brakes. The driver clipped the other vehicle in the process. The rear seat back latch failed allowing the rear seat back to fall on top of the child belted in the rear. A mechanic, was unable to relatch the seat back. Please describe details ts.

Plastic frame on seatback sticks through the padding, and irritates the child's back. May cause injury to child's back. Cosco carseat, not attached to car, bought separately.

While stopping vehicle was rear-ended. After the collision both front seat backs collapsed and fell back onto rear seats.

Vehicle was struck from rear at 25 mph, and driver's side seatback collapsed. There was a recall in older models for same problem. Saturn has been contacted.
